RAMOS AGREES NEW DEAL

It seems as though Manchester United's pursuit of Sergio Ramos is over as, according to Marca, the defender has signed a new contract with Real Madrid.

Nice to see we aren't the only team being used for a contract bump.

Unless we are looking at Schobesberger or Beric from Vienna who are both getting rave reviews.

Schobesberger and Beric both play for Rapid Wien (or just Rapid), not for "Vienna". We've got 2 football clubs here (Rapid and Austria) ... and fuck Rapid.

I wouldn't touch Beric at all, don't think he's very good and he loves himself - and he's kind of old already. Schobesberger though, I'd be happy to see him Spurs colors.

Thing is I can't remember too many people saying we are not set up for Soldado. Lamlea we would not have signed, if Willian had not run out of Hotspur Way, yet Lamela has fared better with assists and scored just as many league goals and more overall.
Paulinho, to all intents and purposes was thought of as a massive signing.
Yes, it's the man charged with watching and buying players that should know. That's the point. Most loved Baldini then & now, with hindsight, he's a cunt who messed up.
Levy obviously knows not much about players and employs people who do to do so. He has to make decisions based on what is available/willing to come. They are not always going to be correct.
We were all happy with Mitchell's appointment, well the majority. So, let's just let him do his job and see how that turns out.
In a couple of years we may be calling Mitchell a cunt and Poch another Levy disaster.
However, like the original poster said levy seems to have backed Poch all the way. There are no more leaks, no more players undermining managers and those that did, supposedly, have been shown the door. We seem to be avoiding headlines and there is less media bullshit.
Also Baldini seems to have been given less influence.
It's a new direction. We already have a chairman who avoids the courting the media spotlight and now a manager/staff who do likewise.

Whether backing Poch and hiring Mitchell will be a mistake is yet to be seen. It's obvious why they have been employed at this time though. That's why I cannot understand the spend, spend, spend regardless mentality of some.
Let's just put this out there. Considering we are not going to have the spending power of the top 4, who would everyone want in charge, excluding Frank De Boer - I just don't think he'd realistically come here. Like the ones who need to have money:
Van Gaal, Benetiz, Mourinho etc, etc.,
&
Who, right now, would people want to see buy out our club to do a better job?

This is getting a bit broad, I replied to somebody saying that because Levy is selling the deadwood that he is showing an excellent strategy and strong leadership. I don't think so at all, he's just maximising what's left of those useless (to us/Poch) assets.

I didn't want Poch and have no idea what Mithell will do for us, we have the rest of the window to see if it's anything in year one.

Although I didn't want him, yes if we're going to spend fuck all as usual and just bulk the team and squad out with kids then he has some sort of track record with that - pretty low aspirations though aren't they?

I think he did very well to get us 5th with the mish-mash of the squad and particularly when he ditched half of it from January. I do think he fucked a critical 2wks up, culminating in losing league points, going out of Europa and losing the cup final.

New season, clean slate. If we don't bring in a couple of decent signings then it really will be a case of gambling. Poch is a hero if it works, and a scapegoat if it doesn't, he can blame lack of squad depth, Levy will blame him for 'lack of cohesive communicative abilities to ensure progression within a competitive environment to the standards and style demanded by our supporters' or some such bollocks, short-hand for 'I've cocked up the managerial appointment again but at least we didn't spend any money regardless'.

I'm not a Levy hater by the way but I call it as it is. I'm a supporter but I'm not blind.

Also, id rather keep Adebyour than sign Young. One or two good seasons, too old, cheating oik and don't want Man U freeing up those massive wages to buy a decent replacement.

Beric scored tonight for Rapid against Ajax.

I see Klaassen scored twice for Ajax too. I don't think he's the sort we need though, isn't he an attacking midfielder? Wonder if anyone impressed Mitchell.
