Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we can't secure two strikers. It makes sense keeping Soldado. I understand what Poch is saying or what "ITKs" are implying. No point getting rid of Soldado if we aren't guaranteed to get a striker in, otherwise we'd just be left with one striker in Kane.

Though saying that, he clearly can't be in the clubs plans if he hasn't even traveled to Germany. He isn't injured.

We could try playing with 10 men and paying 10 men rather than playing 10 men and paying 11. :levystare:

Soldado is gone, he wants it easier in Spain, wants more sun, he has cleaned up good money in the EPL, someone now 30 he is on his way to retirement.

Levy just letting the player trade chain play out with the best result for THFC. We hate it because we want a quality settled squad, Levy does as well but he wants it with a strong bottom line.

Like I said. If we can't get two strikers in and we sell Adebayor. I'm more than happy to keep Soldado. Kane, Berahino and Soldado is better than last seasons options.

No clearly we need a few more strikers but surely we can find a younger replacement for him. This situation is one where clearly both parties are better off moving on. The fact that he hasn't even trained with the first team for the past 3 weeks speaks volumes.

You'd think. But I imagine we want a player who will be able to come in and play, not a youngster who won't be capable. Which is why I imagine we are linked with Werner, Njie and Berahino who can't all just play up front but out wide.

I agree and think any of the three mentioned would be great signings. I think Berahino is the key though because he has proven he can play as a lone striker in the PL. I don't think experience is a huge deal for our third option as like you say it would probably be a winger/striker option. Also, Kane will likely start all league matches so we have the other competitions where new signings could get their feet wet and ease into our setup.

On the flip side with Soldado he has had many chances. If we kept him on now he would be used in Europa maybe only as a sub if we got someone like Berahino. After Ade he has the biggest wages in the squad it just doesn't make sense. Add to that it will be another year on the wrong side of 30 and another year removed from people's memories where he was scoring goals in Spain.

...is this some Cryptic ITK that's telling us he's about to sign for Grimsby?

I think Bobby will be gone this window. The Spainish season doesn't start until near the end of the month so maybe the Spanish clubs are playing poker with Levy predicting he will fold first to get replacements. However...

I certainly don't detest him like I do another forward who is being discussed elsewhere.
His football(except the end result) hasn't been bad. Unfortunately he's a strikers so its all about his goals

IMO his football and general game has been weak. Take the goals away, he goes missing and leaves us with a weak spine. Offers practically nothing from a heading, 50/50, leadership, mentality, attacking or defending set pieces etc. He's too slow and lightweight for the prem. He was steamrolled.

Couldn't disagree more.

Leadership especially. He's a leader on the pitch, he fights for his team mates, i remember one game last season, there was a bad tackle on someone, Soldado was straight over to the ref, and afterwards, i think gave a sneaky little elbow on the guy that did the bad tackle.
But his overall play is fine. He can hold up the ball and all that, just doesnt seem to get on the end of many chances, and when he does, he fucks it up.
