What happens when Bale inevitably signs for Shitty or Utd? Do we still worship him then? Or just realise he's as mercenary as the rest of them?

If you're going to grudge someone for not taking a massive pay cut that's your choice, I won't though. Whoever he signs for doesn't change a damn thing he did for this fucking club and to have that attitude is shitty and small minded.

He only gets one career, and they are short at that. Can you actually give one single reason why he should decline a move to Chelsea or united if he wants to come back to Britain and those are the only two matching his wages?

And honestly, because he played for us isn't a good enough reason. He gave us his all then moved on, he owes us nothing.

I don't have any problem with either Bale or Modric. They both did things the right way.
Gareth played his part in getting us a massive fee. The fact we threw a lot of it down the drain is not his fault. He left, but he got us Lamela and Eriksen.
Luka didn't go to Chelsea, he promised us an extra season and played his heart out for the badge. That's why Madrid wanted him.

I'm not grudging him a move in the slightest. I said all those that are wishing that Bale come back to be our saviour (we don't need saving), if he inevitably then turns out for Shitty, Utd, Chavs, the Woolwich even, will you still be singing his praises? Football fans are a tribal bunch, I support the team not players that have left us for better pay and conditions.

A lot of people seem to think that because we have 'first option' that Bale will be back some time, people should stop living in the past and look at the present. I worshipped Bale when he played for us and was very disappointed with the way he left us. I have moved on and I am more hopeful for our future with the squad of players we now have than constantly banging on about how Bale will improve us.

I know, what a cunt he is right, making sure he always had a contract so we got a transfer fee for him. Had he left us on a free then I would see your point, but the way he left us? Mate, we were a very easy to leave club at the time. Our managers were constantly changing and there seemed to be no real future at the club. He left because he wanted to be the best player he could at the best club he could. You can pretend we are that club all you want but the fact is, we were 5th best, at best, in our own league when he left to join what was easily one of the top 5 clubs in world football. He left, we got paid a substantial amount of money and so did he. That's just business as usual, nothing suspect about the way he left us at all.

Okay going on strike, feigning injury, all signs of an impeccable employee. You can say we got a record fee, that's only due to Levy's hard bargaining tactics which is as per usual. The constant Marca/media push in getting him to leave. It was rumoured we were offering the highest paid contract, the captaincy, the team was going to be built around him. We'd just scored a record PL points total, missing out on CL by 1pt. AVB was the coach to take us forwards, prior to his 2nd season disaster.

Well done Gareth for improving your job prospects mate, you deserved it and owed us Tottenham fans who worshipped the ground you walk on nothing.

As soon as a player decides it's their time to leave I am not interested anymore. I may not like the way it's run at times but my allegiances lie with the club.

I'm not the one living in the past, I am living in the present and infinitely enjoying what we are doing now compared to 2012-2013 where our joy was watching 1 player smash them in week in, week out. Considering we're the 5th best club in the country we're doing pretty well and I can only see us improving with our existing squad, not harping on about someone who left us to be the 'best player' in the world for the 'best club' in the world.

The more I read and see (admittedly predominantly YouTube clips) of Embolo and Tielemans the more I believe these are the two players who we need to get. Young grafters with exceptional talent.

Players in the highest tier, players of Reus or Gotze's, and I have mentioned these two previously as they're background with Dortmund makes them appropriate for our style of football, ability would be fantastic but I doubt Reus is going anywhere and Gotze just seems destined for Liverpool.

So Embolo and Tielemans, please.

Lass Diarra wants out. Would be great backup to Dier and provide us much needed depth in DM. It would also provide more depth at CB as Dier could drop back without the worry of no DM.

Cheap and reliable with tons of experience.

If not, THIAGO MOTTA

He didn't go on strike. He just didn't go to training a few days.

You pull a sickie at work are you ''going on strike''?

To think that every player should be a one club man is mental.

Players that left us include...Greaves (to West Ham no less), Ginola, Gazza, Hoddle, Mackay, Jennings (to Woolwich no less), VDV...the list goes on.

Gareth Bale does, and always will, deserve our respect.

For the extra midfielder we need to get in I wouldn't mind Alex Witsel who has one year to go on his contract.

- knows the other Belgians and have played with them a lot
- can cover for Dembélé, Dier or one of the attacking three behind Kane.
- last year of contract, so will come at a decent price

Greaves was pushed out, as was Ginola. Gazza was being sold to save the club, Hoddle had served us for years, same with Jennings. VdV was on the wane and wanted regular game time and be near his then family. None of them left a sour taste in the mouth.

I'm not disputing Bale being a the player that he was for us. However he will never be lauded as some of those mentioned above.

Pulling a 'sickie' is not going to work, different if it's legitmate illness.

Jennings left to Woolwich. It was sour.

I'm just saying, show Gareth some respect.

We have been linked to a pre-contract agreement with Topal nicknamed Spiderman, has played at centre back this season too so would fit in, never seem him play

And that was one of his greatest moments for us which I cheered like there was no tomorrow.

Apologies G, I must still laud you for those years of service.

Jennings...

Get your sour moves right, his move was hardly akin to Judas. He was treated very badly by our board, hence going to the Woolwich.

Greaves was no longer wanted by Bill Nic, and sold to the Spanners to get Martin Peters.

It's slightly souring but when you hear the reasons behind it, would you begrudge him doing that? He's now one of our club ambassadors and he knows it was the wrong move but the motives behind it were akin to being cheated on at the time.

As I have said I worshipped Bale in a Tottenham shirt, I remember the first time I saw him was for us against Brum when got injured and we lost. Even then I thought he would be a talent for us, which eventually proved correct. However he no longer plays for us and I don't pine after him, I am more hopefully for our club with this set of players.

Let's go back to the transfer talk please. :dierpochhug:

I'm not beefing you, we get on. Just don't understand begrudging Bale going to Real but not Jennings to Woolwich.

Both had their reasons. With Bale we got compensated hugely and it was the catalyst for where we are now.
