We would’ve gotten a point if we had packed it in. Chelsea are an awful club with zero creativity whatsoever, their only strength is pace with Sterling Mudryk and Jackson. There was no way our high line could keep up with those road runners.

I think Ange sacrificed a short term point to prove a long term point to the players about never abandoning the philosophy and that’s fine and I respect him for it.

But let’s not act like it was the best decision to salvage something from the match.
You simply cannot say that. We could just as easily conceded. We very nearly got level. If Angeball is built on a philosophy of attacking football it makes zero sense to change mid game.

I’m sure he may tweak things but the philosophy will remain attack focused

Sure, they created chances via pressing and counters because we were trying to attack them and they had the pace to counter.

I’m not saying we should’ve solely packed it in but after a certain point it was clear our legs were absolutely gone and couldn’t keep up with their pace. You give them 25 chances to beat the high line they’re eventually going to figure it out.

The only thing about that strategy is that it was our best shot to score a goal which is the best argument for using it.

However it was doomed from the get go if the goal was to prevent Chelsea from scoring.
The goal was to try and win the game. 9 men or 11, we're going to try to win the game. But failing that, entertain the fans and give them something to roar on.

A famous Spurs Captain encapsulated this ethos perfectly,

"The game is about glory. It is about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

We've REALLY got our Tottenham back.

I love Angeball.

my probelm with what he did last night is we havw lost 2 CH's for minimum of 3 games, we lost LB 1 game, Maddison 1 or 2 games
so why have the other 8 out field players run themselves into the ground (maybe causing muscle/tireness etct) with 9 players we could have dropped back and defended (yes I expect we would have lost the game) but I'm wondering what damage we may have done to the players now

Yeah, the cost of playing this way was more than just losing a point.

you cant really include romero in the losses as that was with 11 v 11. the injuries and red card after him you can 100% put down to not going to a plan b.

All clubs playing us in the future will now spend the days leading up to the match practising beating a high line. If they have fast forwards then they have a good chance of succeeding. There must be a plan B and even a plan C.

yea thats a great point. especially without VDV because to be fair if you got him in the side you can practise all you want it will still be hard. with dier starting you dont even have to practise.

Anti-football cunts can all suck my filthy. That was the bravest thing I have ever seen from a Spurs team or manager.

I know this for certain, I will never be happier or prouder after a 1-4 loss than I am right now. We were fucking immense.

Let's go down swinging, every fucking time. That is what football is about.

I’m all in! The defend deep tactic just doesn’t work for us! Also let’s not forget. If dier was an inch onside and bentacur was match sharp we’d be sitting here saying it was the greatest comback in our recent history
