The real problems in the Poch era were buying punts like Suarez for a then record £36m ....... who after one season rarely played before being given away.

and I assume you have heard of Ndomble who cost £65m and we had to pay off his last year wages of £10m to go, or Lo Celso who with loan fee was about another £60m .... sold for £4m and a sell on option on another Betis player and Sessegnon at £30m who was released on a free. Clarke we might get back our money on with sell ons, so he's far from being the problem.

Never understood Janssen being bought for £20m but never played, N'Jie or N'Koudou either but at least they were not huge write offs like the others
Ndombele turned out to be a terrible signing, but you can totally see why they did it when you remember what he can do on a football pitch.

Who is Suarez?

Sanchez doesn't fit that profile as he played over 200 games.

Equally Janssen played 38 games in his first season - he was just borderline invisible on the pitch, but had a big ego on him off his one half a season of success at AZ and pushed for a move.

Problem was that Sanchez, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, and Janssen were all players Poch made a big fuss over us signing, and they were all terrible fits. Hard to really get that right without ignoring the fans though as the majority of the fanbase pushed very heavily for Poch to be 'backed', but he couldn't spot a good player

Another goal Veliz, that's 4/5 goals in 6/7 games.

We are desperate for anything useful in front of goal, it's criminal we never gave this guy a real chance.

Just luck of the draw isn’t it. And when the dice falls in your favour you usually have to take your chance immediately. Alejo has had a couple of very limited chances and hasn’t had the rub of the green so doesn’t get any more minutes to prove himself. A couple of injuries to the 1st and 2nd choice at the right time for him could have seen him get 3 or 4 games and 2 or 3 goals and given him a chance to cement a squad place.

Sometimes it’s just not meant to be.

Who the feck scouted Lamela. Bale replacement my arse. No pace, no right foot, hardly any PL goals.
