Player Alejo Veliz

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gold:

Alejo Veliz (Rosario Central)

It was only the second time in seven league matches in Argentina that Alejo Veliz did not record a goal or assist for Rosario.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed his return to Argentina and has picked up five goals and one assist in his 15 matches back at his old club. Saturday brought a goalless affair though at home against San Lorenzo.

After a couple of unsuccessful loan spells in Spain, Veliz has had exactly the move he needed with a whopping 1,271 minutes to his name so far.

Alejo Veliz (Rosario Central)

Alejo Veliz is loving life back at Rosario and the 22-year-old has netted five goals and recorded one assist in his 15 matches back at his old club.

After a couple of unsuccessful loan spells in Spain, the Argentine has had exactly the move he needed even if it meant stepping back to where his senior career began.

The league season in Argentina ends next month but Spurs announced Veliz's loan as being for the entire 2025/26 campaign and it would take a huge effort for anyone to prise the youngster away again from the club he loves.

Much depends on whether Tottenham receive any interest in the striker that benefits them financially during the transfer window. Even with their own current striker problems, it's unlikely that Veliz will play again for Spurs at this point, barring a miraculous change in fortunes.

Verdict: Stay (barring a January transfer bid)
Wouldn't Rosario try to buy him?

Still think he wasnt given a proper chance. Like Scarlett it is ridiculous they havent been when the other options have either been shite or injured.
What's striking (no pun intended) is that seeing as Kane came through the Academy/youth system, you'd have thought they'd try the same trick again...

But maybe because it was Kane, the club are worried we're never gonna match that level again from within.

Scarlett feels like he should be about 30 now, but is still the same age as Odobert (21) and only a year older than Tel... Which kinda also puts Tel into perspective!

Tottenham Hotspur linked with AFC Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams

Spurs are being linked with a move for AFC Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams this winter. According to CaughtOffside, they are admirers of the player along with Chelsea and Manchester United. His contract with the Cherries expires in June 2028 meaning they aren't under pressure to sell him immediately and can wait for the right money to come in for his signature.

Kane is literally the most complete striker England has ever produced. You could play every academy player, in the first team, for the next 100 years and never strike that well again

I suspect the only reason Tel plays ahead of him is that we’ve spent a large sum of money on him so the manager is under pressure to play him.

First time I saw Kane play a whole match was for England under 20s and he played in midfield. He was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch that day, definitely English player. Everything he did was at the highest quality. So for anyone at the club to say they didn’t think he’d go on to make it was probably telling porkies. Sure he’s surpassed what they would have thought be he would always have been a top level player. Add that to his goal catalogue for our youth sides at the time and it was obvious he was top draw.

No issue if Veliz doesn't make the grade.

You have to take a punt on players, and before anyone says anything, no big club has bought a young striker (under 20) in the last however many years and seen them do well.

We gone darn fucked up again.

We are going to be kicking ourselves later... Is this Brazilian side, one of Man City's feeder clubs, or owned by the same group or something...

Lets go out and spunk millions and not give the promising strikers do have a real chance.

They buy lots of players. Mostly just to operate those clubs. Have we had more than one actually move to City?

If Veliz comes good, fair play to the City group for seeing something in him, because he's been stone useless everywhere he went on loan.

Wouldn't even give this a second thought. He's not going anywhere near City.

Reckon the lad can't wait to get the eff outta Tottenham after the way he's been (mis)treated.
Feel like he got treated way better than some players, Tel for example. Got a few Frost team chances and got loans to develop. It's not the club's fault that he was awful on those loans.

It was a punt, didn't work out, we make most of our money back.

I'll have a go at the club and the utter shambles that it is any chance I get, but this was just one where it didn't work out, and that's fine.
