The Tottenham Journal understands that Andros Townsend has been sidelined for six weeks due to the ankle injury he sustained at Stoke on Saturday, ruling him out of the World Cup.
Townsend came off the bench in the 78th minute at the Britannia Stadium but, shortly after coming on, the winger was hurt after a challenge from Stoke’s Erik Pieters, leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
MRI scans have revealed ligament damage which is expected to keep the winger out for six weeks, ending his hopes of playing for England in Brazil this summer.

Yup just saw that now. Basically, who cares.
Fair play to Townsend. He's a tough bastard. I respect him a lot. The way he went into that concrete barrier at full pelt and would have none of it to be taken off. Then in this last game limped around like a champ etc after that challenge...He is a mans man no doubt. Respect.
Of all the players I talk shit about, Townsend is the one that is hardest to criticize. I want nothing but good things for the lad.

He was one of Englands best players in the qualifiers and deserved to go to Brazil. Get well well soon mate!
