Honestly, can you tell me that Townsend is any better than Stuart Downing?

I just looked it up and the only time I ever referred to Carroll and Xavi was in jest when I said he was playing in the Championship and thought he could be the English Xavi there. My point with Carroll and now Mason is always that since we've lost Modric we looked turgid in the center of midfield. I would play Mason and still play Carroll over Dembele and Paulinho in any game against a team that sits back against us. It's a style of play preference for me. I don't like playing two players in a midfield two that can't pass unless we're away against a top four caliber team and even then I don't love it. My love for Carroll had much more to do with a dearth of his type of footballer in our team than anything else.

I also still don't think it is weird to suggest Bentaleb could be incredible one day. I hate the term world class as I don't know what it even means. I don't see "struggles" everyone is attributing to Bentaleb this season. He's performed at level amongst our midfielders even or better with everyone except Capoue. Oh and also he's 19.

Just because I don't follow your wide-eyed admiration of underwhelming players and don't place nooses around their necks to hang themselves by. You say I ''downgrade'' them, but I only downgrade them by your standards. I rate them how they are, you rate them on what they could be in your mind. One is realism, one is fantasy.

Don't take it personally, giving me barry about whatever that point about O'Hara was. I'm just saying, as I always have. Rate the player in front of you, criticise and reward as you see them, don't make excuses for them because you think they might be good at some point. The worst thing that ever happened in football for youngsters is this fad of calling someone ''the next...''. If a youngster performs as badly as Townsend (who's not a youngster btw) has for a consistent period, how long before we call form their actual ability?

Like, how do you defend 70 shots without a goal? So many things wrong in that stat....the decision making to take the shots, the technical aspect of missing that many, just so much wrong with Townsend it annoys me. h'e hasn't played well in too long for me to defend him any longer. Backup or no backup.

Fair play. That was pretty epic. Agree with most of it.

I think Bentaleb has "it" but he's being AVB'd. We risk ruining him if we keep playing him as a holding player in the back 2 midfield spots.

I said a while ago Bentaleb and Mason IMO should be used as part of the front 3 along with Dembele in the cups instead of Lennon and Townsend on the wings.

I think they would be fucking terrifying in the final third in a 4-2-3-1

I think them with Kane ahead of them will be unplayable.

Bentaleb is an AM at the end of the day. I can already hear Dembele style rumblings from Spurs fans who ignore the good he does as a holding player and are starting to whine about buildup.

Mason, Dembele, Bentaleb and perhaps even Paulinho need to be pushed further forward to save them from the grumblers who think our DMs/holding 2 need to magically score and assist for fun from thier own halves.

First of all, Paulinho is terrible. I don't want to see him play much more. Mason has proven in one game that he is better defensively and has a better range of passing than Paulinho. Benteleb has proven that too. Second of all, Benteleb, Mason, and Dembele as an attacking front three is a joke, especially with Kane in front of them (who I really like but I don't think he should lead a line in front of those three).

You know what is ironic? Paulinho did play in a more attacking role in his last game. But since he had Lennon and Townsend on his flanks, he didn't stand a fucking chance with that buildup.

It's also pretty funny one of Townsends greedy scuffed shots ended up setting up Soldado. Unintentional of course because he was thinking glory.

All of you jumping up and down for Mason? I was doing it before that goal. I predicted EXACTLY how it would go down with Lennon and Townsend and what they bring to the table before the game. A home game. Vs a championship side. They pushed our shit in and Soldado was a ghost. Going 1 down was unbelievable. A low point that I predicted.

You keep talking about playing Bentaleb in AM because he played there for the youth teams... but you've never even been to a youth game? You're only saying that shit because you've read it somewhere, probably on here...

It's only because our center backs were absolute beasts that we didn't concede more with them two waving everything past them allowing cross after cross. How many headers and clearances did Kaboul make? Were you part of another puile on where I was defending Kaboul and Jans form? Short memory indeed.

Townsend, Rose, Naughton and Lennon are soft Spurs. Don't do enough in attack to justify how wide open they leave our flanks. You know that now, and you are just upset/venting on me.

You are not even mad at me. You are mad at your boys for being our weak links so it made months of you taking the piss out of me look like a mong after seeing us go behind with Naughton, Lennon and Townsend "pulling the strings".
