Glad to see him score. While he shoots way too much, he's been so unlucky not to score more for us. Hit the bar and post 3-4 times last season and already done it again this season with that free kick. Has to be good for his confidence to see one go in.

The Europa league is an important competition for us and if Townsend can build his Besiktas performance and England goal into some real form it would be a great boost in Europa.

Ha ha ha, I'd love to see it. Unless you mean with one of the players after they were celebrating keeping it to 5. It was a great goal, let's try to praise our players. Plenty of gooners to pick on. What about that Andy Carroll. He is a fat junkie cunt if I've ever seen one
What the fuck mate. Seriousssllllyyyyyyy. Someone made a comment about the SAN MARINO keeper and all i said was premier league keepers are better quality than the guy in goal for SAN MARINO. You need a cup of tea and a lie down mate, you seem to be having a hard day.

"Townsend lost the faith of the Twitterati when, against Liverpool, he lost the ball to Alberto Moreno in a poorly considered take-on. Moreno was then able to run unmolested from halfway and scored a fabulous goal, which Townsend was judged solely responsible for. "

What about the prem season before that game where he played almost 30 games, got zero assists and none of his almost 60 shots went in?

But it was just that match vs Liverpool right? Not the fact that a winger in a team that was gunning for Champions league didn't get a single friken assist???

That is the type of article that pops up when something of note happens.

"Townsend should be a fan favourite and an important part of Mauricio Pochettino's plans at Spurs."

Erm, no. His replacements or scoring and assisting in the perm.

He only started 20 games last season and got two goals, compared with Lennon who started 32 and scored one. The article isn't saying that he should be in the starting line-up at the moment. It is saying that he is a key impact player, is young and has all the attributes to be a top player for the next 10 years. He should be a fans favourite because he is one of us.
In an ideal world yes, but gibbs has a point when he says his overall play is wasteful. I hope he comes good, but we won't be a force with so many players learning their trade in the same squad. We need more experience if this policy is to be continued.

Pochettino will make him into a real force. Surely that's what we all want.

It can be argued we wasted time withTownsend when we had better, younger players who could have offered us a lot more from the get go and will be a better payoff long term.

Less greed, more team ethic and help more in the general game as well as bringing in other players and making us less predictable/soft.

Improved massively so far this season, especially in becoming more selfless on the ball. Has cut down on his shots per game to only 1.3 per game (4.1 per 90 mins) in the PL and 2.3 a game(2.5 per 90 mins) in the Europa League. On top of that his defensive usefulness has gone up a lot too. He's made 2.5 tackles every 90 mins in the PL and 3.1 tackles a game in the Europa League which are very impressive stats for a winger.

However for both stats are very limited in use for the premier league as he's only played 109 minutes. Meaning for example his shots per 90 minutes stat has been boosted from 2.5 to 4.1 because of two free kicks he's taken.

I may be alone but I'd like to see him given a start in the league soon. He's done well in most of his sub appearances in the league and has impressed in most of his cup appearances too. Plus with Lamela and Eriksen both of form both are undroppable and it seems almost vital we have someone who can carry the ball forwards due to the lack of form for the team at the moment.

Would you start Andros on the left over Chadli? Although he has grabbed a few goals I feel like he gets lost in matches. I think that Andros could provide another positive outlet if he played on the left.
If Erisken, Lamela and Andros could play as a floating three and all rotate with the flow of the game I think we could create and score a lot of goals. With Kane scoring for fun he would just be a bonus addition!!

Start him over Lamela
Even though Lamela is working his socks off? Chadli, like I said before, gets lost in matches. Andros is the type of player that is always looking to prove a point. He doesn't want to be sat on the bench, he wants to be in the starting 11 every game and I feel like if Poch was to give him a run out along side Eriksen and Lamela he'd has a really positive impact.

You don't think Chadli is working his socks off as much as Lamela?

In the league both Chadli and Lamela do have a tendency to go missing. So to does Eriksen. Of all 3 only one of them is consistently scoring and that man should not be dropped. The other 2 despite having better potential than Chadli aren't in anywhere near as good form and are under pressure from the likes of Townsend.

He's definitely turned things around since the Forest game. I would like to see our starting front four from last night in the league soon. I think playing on a real pitch, as opposed to a lunar landscape would have let them do a whole lot more. The number of times Andros and Erik tried to dribble into space and had the ball literally bounce away from them was comical.

But yeah, first with Rose, and now with Townsend. The whole "Pochettino can make players better" thing rather seems to have legs.
