It's not the only reason I'm Ange In, but on some level I just think his footballing philosophy is correct.

I think when you're leading, getting the next goal is an underrated strategic objective, ESPECIALLY if you are a team that typically wants to play attacking, possession-based football in normal game states. Taking a step back to control the game is very often a mistake.

That simplicity and clarity of philosophy, and training the players to always have that same objective, and to always know exactly what the tactics are regardless of situation, makes a lot of sense to me.

We need to train and excel in all phases (not being able to defend a set piece has nothing to do with "philosophy" for instance) but I'm keen to stick with the fundamentals of Angeball.

People are much too quickly forgetting how little tolerance they had for wretched anti-football tactics the second anything went wrong.

If you want Ange out, you're a straight up spineless cunt.
You know those clueless cunts on Woolwich TV that we all laugh at?.... that's you!!

Get behind him, or fuck off... and keep fucking off! It's a simple equation.

Ange has brought attacking football to us (at last). Give him the time to learn the EPL. We've proven we are capable of beating the best teams, we just need to give him (and a young team) more time to gel.
Klopp was given time.
Yes, of course Levy needs to get on board and support more financially, but please, let's not throw another manager under the bus!

So? I could have the same philosophy and I wouldn’t be a good coach. Anyone can be forward thinking. 99% of coaches these days are somewhat forward thinking.

His tactics on the other hand are basic bitch stuff. Someone like Slot or Pep are a lot more adaptable and have shown a lot more capacity for tweaking their approach to fit the league. Both assert more control over football matches which leads to more consistency. Neither have their players running about chaotically and hoping for 10 minute golden spells where a match is won.

Uh when? A win against nine man Liverpool and the glorious win the other week against a City team in crisis losing to everyone and their nan are hardly proof of beating the best teams.

When have we ever under Ange beaten a top side at anything close to their top level? Why do people just make stuff up when it comes to Ange?

I mean it's gotta be one or the other, right?

He can't both be doing what all the other attacking managers are doing while also deviating in some critical fashion.

For me that difference is an insistence and inflexibility in wanting to push the defensive line higher and dedicate more men forward in moments where (or with a squad where) Pep or Slot would take a more judicious approach.

It can cost you. It has and will continue to cost us. But I just think the gains will outweigh the losses over time.

I'm less sure of this than I was a year ago admittedly, but it still makes good sense to me and I enjoy watching it, so I remain firmly on board.

Time and time again, the same merry go round.

Ange is an excellent coach and a serial winner.

We have some great players; and our squad is certainly much better than many of the teams who are beating us.

The problem is, and always has been - THE CLUB. Its not just Levy; its the whole board and leadership. Some examples :-

1. Allowing the amazon doc to be made without consulting with the players and coaches.
2. Telling the squad there would be no champions league win bonus if it wasn't in their contracts.
3. Not signing proven players, and consistently trying to sign potential.
4. Not awarding existing players with salaries to match their peers at rival clubs. How do you think Eriksen was motivated sitting on 70k a week as the best midfielder in the league for 5 years straight - whilst his rivals were getting 200+. Was Kane motivated getting paid less than Martial?
5. Denying players comp tickets for family and friends.

The list goes on. Many of our players feel under appreciated by the club and have limited motivation and love for them. Barely any of our ex players and coaches speak with any love of the club - compare that to the likes of United, Liverpool, Chelsea - who's ex players gush about them non stop.

Levy and the club has done a fantastic commercial job - stadium and revenues are world class and the envy of world football. However, on the pitch needs to change. They need to remove Levy and leadership all access to the football side of things and bring in a new leadership team to run it based on an annual budget approved by the board - no interference, no sticking their nose in.

Ange is the right coach to build this; we just need the suits upstairs to fuck off.

He’s doing the basic premise of what they’re doing but without the tweaks they’ve made since.

He reminds me of Klopp at peak gegenpress but with less aura and Klopp since then majorly adjusted his approach.

The gains outweighing the losses over time is a big statement when we are 11th and likely to stay there with Liverpool after Southampton.

You cannot be a top team at the top level unless you have the ability to control the pace of a game of football.

It's one of the reasons (and there are a few) as to why we are the most unstable, unpredictable team in the league.

If that inability to understand the game state, or take the foot off of the peddle was a teething problem. Then I think most fans would sit tight through this rough period. The problem is, it's baked into the managers philosophy. He wants break neck pace for 100% of the game. So this isn't something that is going to be ironed out over time. Unless the manager accepts that control is a fundamental part of elite level football, we'll never be a stable team that you can trust to get a result.

It's all a walk in the woods. Once you're this far in you have to go through to the other side. I'm just tired of hearing about the guy.

Klopp was a world class manager before even going to Liverpool he won the title with dortmund at a time when bayern were dominant. Got to a cl final with them too. I much prefer gegenpressing football to the inconsistent shit we get here. And also klopp was a hot manager at the time and alot younger then ange is now. I don't see any similarities between the two at all.

Also I don't care if he stays or goes but if he goes I want someone who's a clear upgrade and not another mid one coming in

This philosophy is good but he has to be smarter.

Bielsa also had a good philosophy. Where did that get him?

But we've also played on the transition a lot this season and dropped our line deeper at times. So even he isn't dogmatically sticking to his philosophy.

It isn't his fault either. The board let him down this summer so he's trying to adapt. We aren't getting angeball under this ownership unless they do a 180 and give him the players he needs that are ready made to go right into the first team.
