Yeah I dunno , some people think it’s better to be in the CL each season, myself I’d rather win a trophy then come 2nd
Do you really think Postecoglou is getting the best out of this current squad?
5th last season was a result of the first ten games. Post Christmas the form was dreadful and it continued into this season.
Last night makes me even more desperate to get rid of Ange. By focusing on basic principles instead of his own personal idiotic football dogma we got a great performance and the team showed that they are not as bad as Ange has made them look for the last 18 months.
We will improve very quickly once we replace him with a coach who actually understands the game at this level. Ange is far too arrogant and stubborn to drop his "philosophy" long-term. We will probably go back to playing Angeball on Monday and get a good hiding.

At the end of the day, if and it is still a massive IF we win the Europa then Levy will take soundings in the club. He will consider if Ange is likely to win further trophies whilst getting an improved league position or whether it will be like another Ramos situation. To sack a Manager after he wins a trophy is ruthless. Do people think Levy is ruthless enough to do it.

5th in the first, fair enough, should have been 4th in truth but our form toward the end of the season wasn’t great, however 5th definitely fair enough. Unfortunately the poor from we picked up last season has carried on in to this one.
2 semi’s, one where we were entirely outclassed, managed to grab a 1-0 win in the first leg and then were no where near being in the game in the second.
The other semi, I’d love to win the EL, but let’s see if it actually happens first. If it ends up that we go out in the semi, then look, you can only beat what’s in front of you but let’s not pretend like the man has knocked out European giants - Ferencvaros, AZ, Elfsborg… we drew with Roma and Galatasaray should have absolutely wiped the floor with us, if they had won that game 7-2 no one could have said it was unfair. But, either way he’s got us there, and I’ve said numerous times, I really want him to win us the Europa League.
The elephant in the room though is that even if he does, he’s isn’t a good premier league manager. We’re on course to lose 20 league games this season. We look out of ideas, tactics and inspiration in most of them. He’s lost to all of the relegation favourites at least once except Southampton. When we had the run of games including Brentford where we won three on the trot, it was the first time he had managed it since 2023. He has us in 15th and no, it’s not just down to the players.
You could give this exact squad to about 10-12 managers in the premier league and they would have it top half. You’re correct Solanke is our main striker (you should remember this easily one of the semi finals you’re talking about him having us in is due to a Solanke pen after all) however in Anges system the bloke gets basically sod all service.
If Ange stays next season, it’s bottom half, most likely a relegation threat for a while, saved as we have been this year by the three promoted team being awful.
By every single metric, he’s the worst manager we’ve ever had. Before you say “but he might win is a trophy” you’re right he might, and I wouldn’t swap for Juande Ramos or George Graham either.
Cannot count the amount of people on this forum who have wanted managers out over the years.

It has further been claimed that winning the Europa League this season would help convince Kulusevski to stay, and the decision makers at the club ‘have pinpointed keeping him as of more significance than sticking with Postecoglou‘.

But, Daniel Levy has no interest in letting Kulusevski go and views him as a key part of Tottenham’s plans for the coming years.
Kulusevski’s current contract at Tottenham expires in the summer of 2028.

Indeed, the Spurs squad has been decimated by injuries in recent months, and that has certainly contributed to the north London club’s poor form.
However, Ange Postecoglou hasn’t helped himself at times either.
Postecoglou’s tactics have been questioned all season long, and according to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, a few worrying things have happened behind the scenes at Tottenham.
The journalist says that Spurs’ players have been left unimpressed by Postecoglou lately after he lost his temper in the dressing room, while, earlier this season, he actually took a holiday on his own, leaving his assistants to steer the ship.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Postecoglou seemed to distance himself from his squad, leaving training early on his own, leaving his squad alone.

“I’ve been hearing some interesting stuff about Postecoglou’s relationship with the club and with the players over the past few months and it’s not good. What I’m hearing out of that camp is that the players have been unimpressed with him for some time over various factors,” Castles said.

While he took a rest for himself, there are incidents where he’s been throwing stuff around the dressing room and screaming at the players after bad results. Then just last night, I’m told, Postecoglou left training before his players had showered, returned immediately to the team hotel, ate dinner on his own, went up to his room before the players had returned to the hotel to eat.
“Those little bits and pieces tell you there seems to be a disconnect between Postecoglou and the players.”

Not read all the comments so apols if already covered but I also would take the El and 17th(ISH) however what we are all missing is that to finish 2nd means a possibility of improving next season if you improve the team whereas chances of going from 17th to Top4 are low.
But finishing 2nd is so hypothetical; that it’s a bit like saying what if we all won the National Lottery clubbed together and bought the club .
Given the purely hypothetical choice of either finishing 2nd OR 17th and winning EL . It would be a no-brainer for me . ( And also given that even someone like AP has to eventually learn from making mistakes; we’ve got to be better in the League next season; surely ?) .
I'm not sure we would be simply better. Let's see if it translates against Nottingham Forest. I mean we are two senior pros down. That's about what happens during a given season.Lets see us start to deal with the basics of EPL competition. If I was the board I'd look at the remaining league games very closely for a guide.
Maybe it’s just me ; previously I’d have completely agreed with you . But after five decades plus I’ve finally realised there’s simply no point in being logical anymore . Thursday night was the final , liberating experience.
Supporting this club isn’t “ a curse “ ; which I overreacted about btw ; it’s actually a Psychedelic experience.
Reason and logic are meaningless concepts . Embrace it !
