Romero has pretty much made it clear that if Ange goes then so does he!

It is a tricky one for Levy. Performances in the league have been well below standards but the players and management seem incredibly united. Its hard to rip it apart.

There are different sort of fans. Armchair fans, occasional member going to selected matches,Home season ticket fans and Home & away season ticket fans. I do get it that those season ticket holders that pay good money to see all home PL matches would give a higher value to the poor PL losses than either armchair fans or members as they sit through these losses and the away fans that watched the Europa away matches would
Rate those experiences ahead of the poor league results.

We had to get a trophy and as a one off season the PL results were an acceptable trade off. However that cannot happen every year and next season the only winnable trophies are the 2 domestic cups and even if we won one it would not beat this season or qualify for Europe the following year. Therefore we must qualify via the PL. we cannot assume England will get the extra CL position and so top 7 is a minimum.

So top 7 & say FAC or top 4 & no trophy. Neither in my opinion beats this season. It cannot be a 10 due toPL but say 8/9. Last season 5th & no trophy 6/7.

Only Spurs could win a trophy and it result in an agonising decision over the managers future thereafter 😂

He's gotta go imo - winning the EL, as great as that is, doesn't provide any answers as to how we can expect to improve on our disgraceful league performances over the last 18+ months

71:40 that leads to a bruno chance... thats me skimming through for 30 seconds...there was other times down our left hand side which i remember bissouma being part of. youre not going to be well drilled at sitting in and having the right players press at certain times when youve had some braindead idiot in charge for 2 years who was married to suicidal high line and FB's acting like 10s are ya!!

whats your thoughts on sending a 19 year old on, 7 mins to go, protecting a one goal lead, with fuck all info given to him? doesnt sound very italian to me.
So you don't think someone went through the iPad with him before he want on showing him what they wanted from him. I guarantee he was given instructions. I will go back and take a look at this play to see if it's three players aimlessly going for the same ball... if you're right I'll come back and say so.

so a 19 year old has decided to go and press bruno every time he had the ball on his own, which to me shows bravery and football intelligence from the kid.

I mean in terms of the current squad, they clearly aren't capable of winning a league game with these tactics, so ange will want more of 'his' style of players (you know, footballers who have the ability to gloss over a lack of coaching).
We'd certainly need another wing back, maybe two, to rotate and cover for when porro and udogie are run into the ground
As to the tactics, I'm afraid there's nothing for it but to just accept things as they are. That trophy is a card that Postecoglou will play for quite a while to come.

Giving him the first couple months smacks of, "We'll get stick if we sack him now. So lets wait until the feeling on him turns again, and criticism of us sacking him would be at a minimum and then we'll do it. " By then we've wasted a fantastic opportunity to kick on thats fallen in our lap. It would be typically cowardly of this board, so I agree that's what I think they'll do.
This is why I think this is exactly what we'll do.

Levy won't want the media backlash, so he's hoping that either a) Ange turns it around in the league, or b) Ange is appalling at the start of next season and they can sack him with no fallout.

It totally screws us because I think b is far more likely than a,, but I don't think they're thinking in footballing terms, just PR. We're not important to ENIC, especially now we've won a trophy as they know that that'll be enough to keep the fans in line for now.

If you chose Ange in but on a “give it 10 games and see” vibe then you’re not really Ange in, you just want to reward a guy you have no confidence in but have you a great moment. This summer is too important to mess up based on sentimentalities.

Last summer was important, the summer are this one will be important... he needed sacking after Ipswich at home this season but he delivered that moment of euphoria. As with all things Spurs there is no easy answer but not making a decision is ultimately costing us. Levy needs to say what direction we are taking. All these new faces with June start dates can still be contacted for their input. Just get on with it.

This is how I feel

I don't think we can underestimate how badly this will look to the players if we sack Ange

It will also be used as another stick to beat Levy. I don't think he will do it.

Fully committing to him as a long term option would be wrong, but not as wrong as giving him an arbitrary number of games to decide his fate.

We already have a large enough sample of games on our hands, over 100 in all competitions probably, to get a clear idea of who he is as a manager. Why would anybody suddenly want to reduce that sample to a fraction of it where all kinds of noise could creep in to the decision making process?

What if he gets a brutal start to the season schedule wise? What if he gets an extremely easy one? What if he flukes a few totally undeserved wins? What if he gets his team to dominate the opponents in every facet of the game only to lose/draw?

You either -wrongly- wipe the slate clean with this cup win and treat him as if he's just been appointed, or you let him go. No half measures.

I think the players would fully understand once emotion has subsided. For all we know they possibly have doubts themselves.

I wouldn’t take any notice of what Romero says given he’s been incredibly vocal about wanting to play elsewhere. You can’t have one player deciding the direction of the club.

It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, and after last week, think he has merited a stay of execution. I can't emphasis how important it was to us as a Club, huge monkey off our back. Yes, the league position is awful but the choice of even being third or a trophy is a no-brainer for me.
There are a few reasons why I think he should stay:
1. His motivational skills are next-to-none, and we should take advantage of those to the full.
2. He's had a season where he has taken a more pragmatic approach when he's needed to, to get us over the line, so maybe he can be flexible.
3. If we could find a top notch coach that would be able to act as a "co-manager", who Ange would actually listen to, in respect of setting up the team right and bring out the best in the players we have and hopefully are going to get in the summer. This would require Ange to be more flexible and acceptance of advice that may be different of his way of doing things.
4. I think we forget how young some of our team are, and they've been thrown in the deep end, not necessarily playing in their best positions. Last season they have had invaluable experience, which will hold them in good stead for the next one.
I would give him until October to see if he's up to it. It's a bit of a risky strategy, as if it doesn't work out, we have wasted another season.

Ange won't survive next season anyway. So if Romero is so attached to him that he doesn't want to work with anyone else - its better to sell Romero now with 2 years on his contract left, than after next season with only one remaining.

Point 3 is only way I could see how Ange staying on would work, as it’s patently obvious the assistant coaching team isn’t good enough.
