Found ourselves in this laughable position of needing to play Gray at LB to rest Udogie.

Terrible squad management. Luckily the level of competition is low so we will still qualify but it needs to be rectified in January if we want to win this thing.

We joke about it now, but then not putting Spence in the squad (even though he’s obviously now injured) is another example of the piss poor squad management. But it’s been going on for years. Ripping up Aurier’s contract, the Doherty Ath Madrid situation plus others, so many times there’s been cock ups with the squad and organising it. Then this summer we bought a load of kids in positions that needed proper recruitment in. Gray is a good player but he shouldn’t have been paraded as a main signing of the window.

Gray is a good player although, his best position is yet to be found.
At 18 we could be waiting 4/5 years , to see him really fufil potential, by then ange will be gone.
I'm all for snapping up potential i think it should be done but, if we had a better set of experienced players out last night, we probably wouldn't have looked as laughable and probably not lost.
But it is what it is, the club will stagger along and we have to go with the flow.

We’ve been shit away from home in Europe for as long as we’ve been regulars in it since Jol even when we’ve put out experienced sides. At least last night Ange was scathing of our first half performance and not being able to keep the ball, we lost to a big team rather than a whimper away at Paco de Ferreira.

Oddly I think Ange is saying the right things post match. Ultimately his demeanour is annoying if we lose due to his style of play, and ok if we win. He doesn't shy away from the fact that our wounds are self-inflicted, but changing it is another matter.

Surely our club record signing, Solanke, was paraded as our main signing of the window?

There has barely been a backbone with most spurs teams , so yes it's a common theme.
It's certainly a worthwhile and prestigious trophy to win, don't think anyone would be unhappy winning that.

A big team? The championship is rated as a tougher league to win then the Turkish premier.
We played their first team, gifted them 25 chances through sloppy play and nearly pulled a point with 10 on the field.

Because Enic don't invest in the squad quality - when we are in europe, we play weakened teams so we can compete on the weekend against premier sides, and we don't have the strength in depth to compete with the clubs that go balls out with their first teams.

John! Start the Ipswich thread.

If you don't, you're a Gooner!

Tbf, this is the sort of comment I'd expect to see from a Gooner troll!!!!

I'm enjoying not giving too much of a shit about the results.

Friendly? WTF!!!! We need to knock that woke shit on the head!!! :wansum:

Poch also had the advantage of real time premier league experience with Southampton. That would have given him a decent head start.
That said. I still think he's the better manager of the two. Just my honest opinion, like.

Poch last season didn't really show anything until the last few months at Chelsea and if you compare to Chelsea now they look much better now under Maresca, time has moved on since 2017...not sure Poch is on that level anymore tbh.

There's a reason why he's managing USA now.

Apart from uber freak Kane, I don't think we saw mass improvements of players at this stage in Poch's 2nd season, it was around December when players such as Dele, Rose, Walker, Eriksen etc...started levelling up when we went on a run

Most people will struggle to clearly document what they did last month.

So I will forgive you being unable to remember what happened the better part of 10 years ago!!
