You've made an allegation that you have no basis for.

Which is exactly why I asked the question I knew you couldn't answer. 👍
An allegation 😅😅are we in court?. I said johnson was an ange signing. This really seemed to trigger you. Its been said multiple times by multiple posters.
This came from Anges mouth he wanted Johnson. Thats exactly the basis for my comment. Are you calling Ange a liar? Are you saying hes not in control or has 0 say in transfers?

Gold is pretty well connected to the club and the alternative is that your other idol (levy) is forcing people to lie in order to thrust unwanted players on the coach.

I get that this creates an unfortunate dilemma in your desire to be the loyal company man for EVERYONE.
Ali Gold, despite being 'close' to the club, is often wrong and disconnected from club happenings.

The guy is regularly on holidays when big news breaks!

Of course he has some control and some say in transfers. I've said this many many times in this conversation.

Managers are presented with a list of options. Clearly Brennan Johnson was Ange's pick from the list that was supplied to him in July/August of 2023 to replace the world's best striker.

Was Osimhen on that list? No.

Isak? No.

How do we know this? Because someone would have mentioned it by now.

So Ange "signed" the one guy he thought might replace some of the goals we were losing by selling the world's best striker.

And he was right. Brennan Johnson has scored and assisted a lot of goals for Tottenham since his transfer.

So... unless you can show to me there was someone on that list who would have been a better signing then I'd suggest using the BJ transfer as a sstick to beat the manager with is pretty fucking risible.

Just my opinion, like...

My problem with the performance today is we’ve seen it so many times before, no matter who the manager is. Take a few key first team players out, play a lower league side, or European minnow, and you get this over and over again.

To me, it’s not about tactics, and it can’t be because we’ve had so many different managers. It’s about club culture, and having players who take responsibility for maintaining standards. It’s just not there and hasn’t been for years. There should be players pinning Johnson and Werner to the dressing room wall for insipid, weak, lazy play like today. But it’s always just shrugs and platitudes to the media instead.

We need someone to change that. Is it Ange? Probably not. But I don’t know who can.

Eze and olise. There ye go. Def on the list. Linked with them. Ange wanted johnson.
Just my opinion 👍

Not even Solanke was purely Ange. It's group effort that follows a process on every player.
He has done well on back post goals. His all round game however has cost us games. Lack of effort, being timid, not tracking, defensive work. Its swings and roundabouts and depends what your looking for but not for me
Exactly

While a fair point in his favour, a few back post goals in a team that’ creates lots of chances does not justify either his fee or his place in the dquad

I don’t think it works as a sub either. He’s too emotionally fragile

For the record, I don't think he has much of an input in signings in general. He has no leverage due to his weak resume and mediocre performance, and even if he had the club is currently operating in a way that doesn't give the manager much power. Is he going to overrule people whose job descriptions actually involve identifying and recruiting players? Don't think so.

For the sake of argument, even if we assume that he indeed enthusiastically authorized the signing of players like Johnson and Werner, I still wouldn't blame him for it. If you let any manager, not just Ange, handpick players then you're just asking for trouble. Why would you dump him additional responsibility when he already has enough on his plate? Let those in the club who are actually charged with this task do their jobs, and keep the manager mostly out of it. Or get Ten Hag'd I guess.

Timing and the fee give me the impression that Johnson was just a panic buy, while Werner was a poor attempt at a stopgap player. Unless I'm missing/forgetting something crucial here, I don't see a reason to look deeper than that.

This season we are:
15-5-11 F 62 A 42
Last season
17-5-9 F 61 A 44
So more goals scored, less conceded but 2 less games won.
Did anyone mention our injury crisis?
Or that we are in all the cup competitions?

What’s the point of these delusional posts? To somehow fool someone in to thinking we’re actually doing ok? Nobody is fooled. A couple of also deluded people will give you a like react because it makes them feel cosy and warm, but that’s it.

We are 12th. 3 points ahead of Crystal Palace in 15th. 12 points below Chelsea in fourth which was the pre-season expectation. Other than the league cup it would be borderline impossible for us to not be in all cup competitions. Nobody is convinced by empty statements.

This season has been a disaster. We are sat below Forest, Brighton, Brentford, Villa, Fulham and Bournemouth. We are 3 points ahead of a West Ham team who think their season was going so badly they just sacked their manager.

I don’t really care that you’re completely detached from reality, but don’t try to infect everyone else with the insanity.

Well, I wouldn't say this season has been a disaster. Some positives

- We are within spitting distance of the league cup final
- Our injury crisis has enabled us to give minutes to Spence, Grey, Bergvall - who have all shown immense quality. It is very likely Spence would have been sold for peanuts had he not stepped up.
- Have scored the 2nd most goals in the league - despite not having a prolific center forward. We have goals coming from all of our squad.

The league position is disappointing, but we are only halfway through the season. 54 points still to play for.

My expectation is that winning the Europa League is now our realistic way of getting back into the Champions League next season; and as a result; our ambition in the premier league will probably be to finish in the top 6 - which given Newcastle, Forest, Cheslea's form, may be a tough ask.

Of course it has been a disaster. We are 12th. We are closer to the relegation zone than the top four. It’s been utterly terrible.

- Spitting distance? We carry a 1-0 win to Anfield. Presumptive much?

All the rest of the positives are just almost meaningless. I don’t care if we score lots of goals if we are 3 points ahead of 15th. We have been a hideously ineffective football team.

‘Disappointing’ - fuck me. It’s an absolute disaster of a position.

We are getting nowhere near the top 6 and if we’re pinning hopes on winning trophies, good luck.
