Yeah, when you pick Onana as a better keeper than any of the GKs left in EL, that’s when you lose the argument

A Spurs/United combined 11 would probably look like:
-------------------Vicario------------
Mazraoui---Yoro----VDV---Spence/Udogie
------------Ugarte-- Mainoo------------
--------------Fernandes---------------
-----Kulu-----------------------Amad---
--------------Solanke------------
You're talking just how they performed in the Europa League?Udogie was amazing in both QF games. If we make the Final he’s 100% going in the team of the tournament.
Ugarte could go into the MF. Bergvall is definitely in there based on his form for over a month now but especially in the QF.
Spence on ability for sure but he’s only been in the EL squad since the R16.

well tbh if thats the case wouldn't Maguire be a centre back then?

Ange in the Champions League?....you've lost your mind...we wouldn't get past the very 1st round...Before the season started, if you told me we would finish 17th and win the Europa League, I would have taken it. Moreover, if Ange wins a trophy in his second season, it will be a successful season.
Without any better options, I really don't have a problem with keeping a manager I personally dislike just for the principle of finishing a season and/or letting him win a trophy. I felt a similar way about Mourinho and Conte to an extent - there were fundamental things I disliked about them, at least half way through the season, but they still deserved to see out the season despite my disagreements, as long as they had a chance of a trophy and/or a CL place [and did not get relegated]. For me, at least, that was their job and they get paid to take any criticism, to an extent.
The biggest problem is if Ange does not win the Europa League. Then we may as well have kept Poch, who would have easily been able to finish bottom half and get us to semi-finals and finals on a consistent basis, even with a worse budget or recruitment team. I truly believe any of our managers could have won something, like Juande Ramos did, if they were all allowed two seasons to fuck off the Premier League entirely. Even Nuno is proving himself to be a good man.
But Ange winning the Europa League and getting another season is not an actual problem for me. It may well be a problem next season, ala Erik ten Hag at Man United, yet I would have taken this exact problem last season given our lack of silverware. It is a higher quality problem to have than no silverware at all. You have to risk failures in certain areas for success. Our failures in Premier League this season I was expecting last season.
This season has been more disappointing, but I've said many times I don't give a fuck what Ange says in the media as long as he is successful. It is painful when he is not successful and therefore it is a massive problem a lot of the time with a lot of the shit he comes out with for many fans. Of course any fan is going to bite back at him when he says something that discards them all and he loses 18+ Premier League games, all the while being compensated an unfair amount of money. It's a massive imbalance, and it does suck to be a football fan.
If things are being promised and they are not delivered the fans deserve a refund - one that they never actually get I might add. If they are not promised it in the first place, or success is not paid for already, it is easier to accept the demise with less protestations. I don't think it is on the fans.
On the other hand, if he wins a trophy, it's fair play, relatively speaking in my opinion. I'll congratulate him aptly like I did after his first ten games. If he is there next year, I hope he wins three or four trophies. It is pointless to think otherwise. He could even tell me to support Woolwich again if he wants to and it just would not matter. The point, for me, is that success trumps sentimentality, and a trophy is better than any random Premier League position. We have no better options to manage this club at the moment thanks to the owners and the chairman. Ange basically should only be sacked if he gets 2 points from 8 games starting next season, which I was entirely expecting him to do in his first season anyway - given that we just finished 8th the previous season and sold our best player yet again.
So, yeah, if he wins the Europa League, in my opinion he deserves a go at the Champions League and recovering the Premier League form next season, as unrealistic as all of that may seem right now. However, if he does not win the Europa League, I think we need to part ways.
I Can'tAgree 100pc.
If he wins EL, I actually think he will be given the start of next season. I don't want that, but I can live with it if need be.
I agree with you individually, but you do not defend as a an individual but as a team. If we had a manager or any coaches with any clue how to coach defensive work and actually work on our defensive weaknesses then they would have the potential to be phenomenal but we don't.They are a better team no question. I’ve said that since the start of the tournament. The spirit they defend with is incredible.
Which one of their defenders is a better individual player?
None of them. Sorry but that’s just a fact.
I’d even take the Frankfurt keeper over Onana despite his WWE impression on Madders!I'd pick Bodo Glimt's GK over Onana and I've never seen him play
Vicario isn't the best keeper.
Maddison isn't the best No 10.
Sonny isn't the best LW.
Brennan isn't the best RW.
I'm taking Inaki Williams over Dom, even though the former plays out on the right a lot.
Our defence has conceded 5 more goals than United's...and twice as many as Bilbao's. But yeah Porro-Romero-VdV-Udogie are so much better than their counterparts.
Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur...lol.
Oh and your beloved Ange sure isn't the best manager...soz.
TBF from the rest of your post it makes it seem like Ange is a miracle worker for getting to a semi-final considering the dross you think he has to work with![]()

But the point he isn't successful, and what's coming out of his miserable mouth is a major pointer as to why he isn't.This season has been more disappointing, but I've said many times I don't give a fuck what Ange says in the media as long as he is successful.

This whole narrative that we control games also stems from people just watching our games individually in a vacuum. And ignoring the fact that opposition teams gladly allow us to control possession and push forward because they have Ange's tactics figured out. Then there's his public analysis of our games. Saying we controlled a game against Wolves where we conceded 4 goals and we were outstanding against Forest when they should have 3-0 up is just risible nonsense and fucking thick. Wolves hadn't scored more than 2 goals at home before we played them and our football when Forest just sat back with their lead was ok at times - but it was never remotely outstanding or resembling anything like how we played at times last season.
Watch his interview from when he managed the Aussie U 20 he has always been a blithering idiot when questioned. But the point he isn't successful, and what's coming out of his miserable mouth is a major pointer as to why he isn't.
The truculence with the media and our own fans reveals a thin skin unlike anything I can remember in this league - certainly from a THFC manager and I'd have to be reminded of others from other teams. You can imagine Roy Keane being like that and also Di Canio - and where did their managerial careers go when they were exposed at the top level?
His way of handling pressure is to be combative but with the mask of not caring about criticsm. It's just fucking bollox, nobody is falling for it anymore, and more importantly, it's surely not how a successful person who has to inspire others behaves.

Something has turned him into a blithering fucking idiot - presumably the pressure - which he says he doesn't feel - when he's clearly losing his rag. The blustering fool
Fluking a European trophy would be epic but it will not make Ange successful. The league is your bread and butter barometer of how good you are. Go and watch that Brian Clough interview with John Motson. The 1st question was which out the 4 competitions is the most important, and Clough's answer told you everything.
Ange has made losing in the league normal. It's completely farcical. He has to go. He surely doesn't want to be here anyway and the feeling is mutual. Win in Bilbao hopefully and part ways on a high.
There is no senario that I can see where it would be a good idea to keep Ange beyond the Europa run. Before the season started, if you told me we would finish 17th and win the Europa League, I would have taken it. Moreover, if Ange wins a trophy in his second season, it will be a successful season.
