Other than finishing 7 places above us on a fraction of the budget! 😁

So why does that make him worthwhile?

Nuno has just finished even higher, and he was not wanted.

In fact Nuno got Wolves promoted, had them finish in 7th and into an FA cup Semi Final, got them into Europe

And he was deemed completely inappropriate.

What are we even talking about here. You guys are nuts.

sure but the debate can't include, 'if we can't get someone good we keep ange'. he has to go
There's no circumstance where Ange should keep the job by default. He lost 22 games and finished 17th.

If you can't find someone clearly better then you would still do better drawing a card from the deck. An assistant, someone who's had some success at a smaller club. Anyone else gives you a chance that he could be the guy who could take us up toward winning the league. We know Ange isn't that man and there's no space below him in terms of league performance, so there's nothing real to lose.

You guys are so obsessed with your hatred of Ange you simply cannot enter into a conversation about us without making up reasons to be angry.

Ange should go
Frank is not good enough to be managing us and nothing he has done in his managerial career can convince me otherwise.

if he gets the gig, ill support him and hope he is the answer, but its incredibly underwhelming and people are only into it because he seems a better prospect than a guy they hate, rather than on any kind of data point that makes sense.

And what’s the PPG March ‘24 to May ‘25?
One spell we haven't litigated to death on here were the four straight games at the end of his first season against Newcastle, Woolwich, Chelsea and Liverpool. In the thick of the top four race, not in any other competitions, and had Van de Ven, Romero and Vicario for all four.

Had deficits of 4-0, 3-0, 2-0 and 4-0, and despite a few consolation goals lost all four. That stretch is why Villa made the Champions League.

Outclassed against the top teams. Other than the continuation of Pep's Spurs curse, we didn't exactly overturn that issue this season either.

Why is it?

There’s enough Gooner trolls on here without considering any of the online polls.

What on earth makes you think if they’d bother to register on an opposing teams fan website, they wouldn’t click ‘Ange In’ on one of these website polls?!

You are incredibly naive at times!
Oh, the ironing.

You claim everybody you know wants Ange out...
Why can't you just accept the fact that not everybody agrees with you and also accept the possibility that you Ange Abusers might be in the minority among the fanbase?
Anyway the poll has rattled your and other's cages so my job here is done.

No he didn't. It's a combined success for everyone at THFC. We win together. We fail together.

Yes. I am laughing.

Yep, Frank is unknown. Ange IS known and IS known to be shit. We'll get spanked out of the champions league by actual football teams and continue to get done every weekend in the PL. This is known. We know. The known is not the way to carry on.
A lot of risk in changing, for anyone. But we have to throw the dice at this stage or we're done.

Frank could win the quadruple and some would still claim this. The utter madness Ange has inflicted our fanbase with is astonishing.

Poch hadn't managed a club of our size in the CL. Or any club in the CL. Or even in a European game AFAIK.
Great comeback... I will try one last time... what do you think Frank will do in his first season not what you hope he will do what do you think he will do and what evidence can you provide to support that... try to be insightful, lucid, intelligent rather than... well the opposite of those things.

Absolutely that spell is a stick to beat him with. As his record against Woolwich and Chelsea

I’ve got no issue digging Ange out for those. He needs to address that in a big way.

What do you see in Postecoglou to keep him?

Forget Frank or anyone else.

The manager we bizarrely still have at the present time, in the PL has overseen atrocious performances, since we beat Villa away in 2023/24 . Posters need to put to one side the Europa cup victory. Separate entity entirely.

It''s stupid to ask what another manager will definitively do, but one thing Frank or someone suitably qualified will offer is more than going into next season with a nanager out of his depth.

He can't change a thing and other teams will just rip us to bits, with Postecoglou having little to no idea how to change it.

How anyone who understands football continues toi defend last season's PL dross is honestly beyond me

What the fcuk Levy and co are doing is another question. Maybe it serves to deflect from transfer inactivity. They have sacked managers for infinitely less.

On paper, our PL managerial record seems (from my recollections certainly) to be terrible when hiring someone who's never managed in the PL (thinking Gross, Santini, Ramos, Ange), and generally good when it is some kind of perceived underwhelming option (Jol [partial outlier from the previous], Redknapp, Poch) and a car crash overall when trying for the 'exciting' options (AVB, Mourinho, Conte).

As noted, there are outliers in there, but I think the only trend we need to be careful of is doing what United have done (and us, to a smaller extend) and hiring in some jazzy manager with no PL experience. It's a tough league.
I'm nervous about Glasner for that reason, but he's done well at Palace so I can see why he's a really good option.

People get underwhelmed by cheap/young signings too, when some of our best players have been exactly that.

Why the fuck should anyone move on from that?
It's a cult. Deny the truth that is evident and established. Rubbish any alternative, over inflate the achievements of our chosen one and overlook the multiple data points that if given longer he will cause the club real harm. I admire the people still bothering to contend them, but it's a waste of time. At this point they may as well be that newsreader on North Korean state television. When Postecoglou is replaced all these heroes of the upside and positivity will be queuing up to kick the new coach at every turn because their man was 'better'.

You seem to only want a coach who will guarantee us a title.
You seem to be happy to keep one who will see us finish bottom 3-4 again if we can't have that.

Think about the repercussions of that.

I don't care if it's Frank, he's not my top choice, but if it's between him or 1ppg Ange, I'm Frank all day. If he doesn't work, try again.

apologies if i've lumped you in with the ange dead enders unfairly. honestly if ange didn't have so many people blindly defending him he'd get a lot less vitriol.

I think that most of those ‘Thomas Frank’ fans firstly, agree with you that Ange has to go as we (I include myself) see Frank as a better coach who can bring more entertaining football for the fans than what we’ve seen over the last 18months or so.

However, if there was a better manager (other than Frank) available, someone like Glasner or Alonso or Hoeness, then I think most of those same fans would likely have picked one of those three over Frank. Well, I would anyway.
Good post Malibu, I think we are saying the same things... Ange does need to go but we need an upgrade. I don't believe Frank is that... I see him as a safe pair of hands to help us avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap. I don't think his football is entertaining, it's more practical and industrious. We will not compete at all next season with him in charge. We will finish lower top half at best, knocked out in the Champions League groups stages or we might scrimp into that playoff round and then get booted out, plus early exits from both domestic cups. That's the limit of what Frank can do. We should have been talking to Simone Inzaghi before the Saudi's got him or maybe tried to convince Xavi to take the gig. Hoeness is a great shout. Just won the German Cup but has recently extended his contract so might be difficult to prize him away from Stuttgart. So many better options befitting of our club but we plump for Frank. Underwhelming and doomed to end in failure.

I want a coach who knows how to win. Winning breeds more winning.
For the record, I want Ange gone but why are we not trying to upgrade. Plenty of managers our there with better pedigree's than Frank. I don't think you can guarantee we finish bottom 3-4 again under Ange. You say it like it's a given clearly forgetting he finished 5th in his first season. How many ppg did Frank get against Spurs last season under shitty Ange?
