The whole point of the europa & conference league is to give the motley crew of misfits a continental competition ffs.

If you think the Sevilla, Villarreal, Frankfurt etc teams who won it recently were anything but a poorly assembled group of players on a shoestring, think again.

We were literally joint favourites going in to the competition and most definitely had the 2nd highest wage bill and transfer spend in the entire competition. We then chucked our entire season in to it, it’s not fucking heroic.

Sevilla have won it 5 times recently. FIVE. Sevilla. Mostly from being too rubbish to get out a champions league group. They’re the dictionary definition of broke Spanish side who take any player who will sign a contract and is cheap. Man’s talking like Ange won the World Cup with Trinidad & Tobago.

Frankfurt won it the season they finished 11th in the Bundesliga. In a final against bloody Rangers. I promise you that you can enjoy us breaking the trophy duck without feeling a need to big up the europa.

I don't know if you've noticed but essentially the same squad with a couple of hundred million worth of additions on very high wages are about to get relegated to the Championship. 🤷‍♂️

So, please, leave me in peace to enjoy my memories of Bilbao before I start working out how to get to Doncaster in August :ange-pray:

Minus Son and Maddison & with this years league we would’ve been relegated last season. 16 goals and assists for Maddison in the league, 16 for Son. All you’re seeing is what happens when you take 32 goals out a team and replace it with a guy who can’t adapt to England and
It’s like talking to a 10 year old girl, relegation was never going to happen,Ange wouldn’t have tanked the league to allow us to celebrate a trophy win, qualify for cl,we would have finished maybe 13th and lost 17 games, fantastic ,he chose the wrong option 🤦

It’s like talking to a cultist.

Man who can’t structure sentences and uses a comma every other word thinks I sound like a child.

I’ve heard this bollocks so many times before. AZ, Frankfurt and Bodo. There was no justifiable need to tank the league. Ange’s form in the league was going off a cliff for ages, all the way back to the season before. The idea it was some great strategy is nonsense.

Minus Son & Maddison all season (who scored or assisted nearly all his goals) we could easily have gone down under Ange. He was very fucking lucky that it was 3 useless sides going down last season. West Ham & Forest were both miles better than Ange’s team last season.

As always pointless arguing with you lot as you just go “well if Ange had wanted to we’d have won x games”. What a fucking waste of time.

Managers are responsible for setting the tone and ethos at a club. Which is why Slot won a league first season because the players were still in Klopp mode. The winning mentality was still there. Ange didn’t overachieve, managers who overachieve don’t get sacked at the end of their overachievement and then end up managing Forest. You are objectively wrong on this and the football world agrees with me; not you.

Ange set the ethos of the league doesn’t matter at the club. He turned us from a club which expects to challenge for Europe to a club on the periphery of fighting relegation. The next step was always relegation batting, definitely if he stayed as all the indicators show that he was sliding & getting worse and worse in the premier league.

Forest could win the EL and get relegated. It would have happened to ange if he had to fight in this relegation battle and had no Son or Maddison to score goals with. Any premier league side outside the very worst teams has a shot at the EL, it is exceptionally bad.

I like European trophies of real value.

In what ways has the club shown that it that it expects to be "challenging for Europe", and by that- given your disdain for the Europa competition- I mean actually winning the Champions League?

As for the ethos of the club he did try to set a winning culture at the club. He wanted the players to experience winning a trophy. The only way that can be done is if the club actually wins a trophy. We were never winning the league, so winning the Europa was it for him, the players and the 250,000 fans lining up for the bus parade.

I could be off the mark but judging by the way the club is run it could be that winning trophies isn't the ethos of this club, and instead looking back at black and white photos of past glories in the barren trophies room is.

Top 4 and all that.

So perhaps you are right-the culture he aimed to create and what the club ethos is didn't align.

He clearly picked his best players for the Europa games. Its probable we would've finished higher than 17th, and TBF I don't believe even he thought we'd finish as low as we did in the league.

as per the calendar, that only accounts for about 6 games of the season between the 10th April (QF leg 1) and 21 May (final), of which we lost 5 and drew 1.

Now, the other 32...

We had more games lost to injuries to key players than any other club in the league..which is why he rotated the squad in the games those key players were available to the Europa.
which was about 6 games of the season, of which VdV and Romero did play and concede 2 to forest in MW33, Romero played in MW32 etc (so was probably 4 games we're talking, max, but lets keep to the generous 6)

so about the other 32...

I think that's called cherry picking the stats: you're limiting "injuries to key players" to two key players and a total loss of 6 games, maybe less-if clubs lost a total of 4 games to injury in a season to key players they would be ecstatic.

Don't bother replying, mate. It's so damn obvious they are cherry picking it becomes utterly pointless to debate. What's the argument about without Son and Maddison goal involvement we would go down?! Like HONESTLY what sort of argument was that?!
Ice Cube Reaction GIF

Did anyone not realise how RIDICULOUS this sort of hypothetical argument was?

O M G

Edit: I couldn't resist and reply to their arguments as well. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I really didn't wish to respond to your reply but you actually said these one more time. Omg

I feel the need to highlight this part to show how UNBELIEVABLE this sort of argument was YET you could continue peddling like it's gospel.

Minus Son & Maddison all season (who scored or assisted nearly all his goals) we could easily have gone down under Ange.

1) You don't happily assume what could happen due to so and so. Basic logic. Nobody could turn back time to test the outcome. This is the single, biggest joke of an argument used I have seen here for a long time.

He was very fucking lucky that it was 3 useless sides going down last season.

2) Ange played the relegated teams twice, SAME as all other teams. There wasn't an asteroid struck or lasagne gate to the opponents in those 6 games and have the matches forfeited and given 18 points to him. Those 3 teams won/lost fair and square THROUGHOUT the season. There was no luck from Ange part that the 3 teams were the weakest FOR THAT SEASON.

West Ham & Forest were both miles better than Ange’s team last season.

3) For goodness sake, why would you compare teams across seasons. OMG.... Why......
:ange-facepalm2:
If one of spammers or Forest is relegated this season, you will look even, sorry but not sorry to say, more stupid, with this point.
:palhinhashock:

Insults hurling at Ange and to people who supported him with senseless stupid logic in arguments just keep proving what you have been trying to prove WRONG. Please. Just stop.

Erm no - you said he "rotated for europe".

I pointed out he games he "rotated for europe"

So what about the other games where he wasn't "rotating for europe"

All you have to do is look at this season, in which Frank was given a better squad than Ange had last season, to realise that Ange was working miracles with what he had at his disposal and sacking him was the single worst mistake we’ve made in the last few years

I’d take him back in a heartbeat

Ange takes his fair share of the blame for the shit we're in at the moment.

He was our worst ever premier league manager until this season (he might end up being the 4th worst by the time this season is over, which just goes to show what a clusterfuck this year has been!).

He is partly responsible for normalising losing (despite all that bollocks during the Man City game about how bad it was to ever lose) and I think he's partly responsible for exacerbating the attitude problems of some of the prime culprits this season like Romero and VDV by putting them on a pedestal and making them think they are better than they are.

I'd rather be kicked in the nuts than take him back - unless we're actively trying to let him finish the job he started of relegating us.
