Watching De Zerbi actually lead training made me remember how much I hated Ange’s hands-off arms folded style.
He’ll comfortably clear Ange in tactics that isn’t even a question. He’ll likely clear him in player development as well.
The question is can he truly command a room and have enough pull to get players to come and die for the badge?
The feeling of waking up with a competent person in charge of your club instead of Ange the Clown is unbeatable. So secure. Slept like a baby last night. I feel safe
I was intensely Ange out, thought he was a terrible manager who made a joke of the club, but Frank has somehow been worse.
This is the worst I’ve felt about the club ever. It’s a soulless, rudderless disaster.
We are, underlying metrics-wise, worse than we were last year under Ange at the same point in the season.
Now, he obviously deserved to go.
But I think today shows why he was far from the main problem with the team and why it was ludicrous to expect improvement with any manager. The technical quality in this midfield is absolutely abysmal. No one wants the ball and no one can turn or pass with it. Gallagher was a shocking signing.
We have zero wing play. We have donkeys for forwards. We have a cunt keeper and idiots for CBs.
Frank was not the right fit here but he is not some uniquely awful manager. We are the problem.
Is it just me or is anyone else feeling deja vu with this post...?
Oh yes, from the Thomas Frank thread:
Oh dear... I think we can all agree we hope and prayJDefoe 's piercing insights work out a bit better this time

The absolutely audacity to come in and say this in here when he posted that nonsense about Frank![]()

Ange was awful. Arguably dealt with fewer injuries than Frank as well funnily enough (though Frank was also a failure). I stand by every single piece of Ange critique I’ve ever posted on the site because every word of it was true. Sure I had hope for Frank and I was wrong about that. What I was never wrong about was how awful Ange was.Is it just me or is anyone else feeling deja vu with this post...?

And we'd already have been safe last year with only the number of points Frank collected. Ange would have had us in a relegation scrap with this year's bottom 3Ange was awful. We need someone who actually gives a monkeys about developing players, that's for sure.
Perhaps at Celtic where your tea money is more than some clubs' wage bill you can get by with "my system is infallible if you just do it"
Frank can't get a tune out of these players but it's doubtful anybody could.
The biggest fault in Frank may be that he didn't see this in advance and took on an impossible job
The board has demonstrated none of the commitment to result on the pitch that they made noises about when they removed Levy.
How could they force him out and then continue his policies of complacency and inaction?

No one could make these donkeys into a great squad, but a competent manager would do better than 17th place and form that would have put us in a relegation battle most years. In spite of the fact that they walked through a poor Europa field and then won a final by throwing his system off altogether.Another case in point:
"No one could get a tune out of these players but I really hate the guy who finished 5th with them and won a European Trophy with them, despite an unprecedented injury crisis"
It's so weird and fascinating.

I’m sure you stand by all of your Ange praise as well, despite him mightily failing at Forest. I could probably pull old posts of yours around that time but I really can’t be arsed.Of course you do.
That's what's fascinating.
And why this thread will get to 5000 pages![]()
Got to hand it to youPhomesy - you’re holding that torch proud and high, despite a spell in chokey.
No way I’d be able to be arsed. Well played.

Those statements are not at odds. The squad isn't capable of being great, but Ange made results worse than they had to be. An average manager would have done better. The fact that Frank is no better than Ange doesn't raise Ange's standing at all. That's not what you said, my friend.
You said no one could get a tune out of these players and that Frank's biggest fault was he didn't realise how shit the players were and took on the job.
You must see how insane you're behaving - but you continue to do it anyway.
Fascinating. Weird but fascinating psychological behaviour.

Not in the top half, but certainly not in any relegation conversation, and we were only saved from that by the awful bottom 3 last yearWhere do you think a competent manager would potentially be able to finish with that squad?
