Arguing? I wasn't "arguing"?

I simply showed Dr Rocktopus - in his own words - how happy he'd been when Postecoglou won us a European Trophy and how miserable he is now he's got the outcome YOU wanted - which has led to catastrophic disaster. 🤷‍♂️

You can be happy winning a European cup and also not happy with a manager who gave us 22 losses, has won 1 in 19 of his last premier league matches (over two clubs) and who saw zero long term development of style or any kind of measurable progress in terms of players improving.

They seemed to be getting worse. We won a cup by switching to a player led negative style against Bodo, Frankfurt and United. That doesn’t mean the manager is good. You can think Ange is a clown and also like him as the guy at the helm when we won something. Personally I think he’s a bit of an arse but I digress.

Frank failed. As a non cultist manager worshipper I can accept his failure despite liking him when he came in. His failure doesn’t equate to Ange’s success. Ange was busy failing this very season with another club. He lost almost every game and got sacked before he could get them relegated. A shame as we could’ve done with that.

The “catastrophic disaster” is as a result of a whole load of decisions. The idea it is down solely to sacking Ange is ludicrous irrational nonsense. We were on a downward slope as a club for a while and finishing 17th UNDER Ange is clear, measurable decline whilst he was still here. He had no cups to win this season as we weren’t in Europa. There is no proof he would have done better as again, he failed to win 18/19 of the last league games we can show he managed.

The “Ange wouldn’t have us here” argument is based on nothing but emotion. You can’t prove it. He has proved utterly incapable over a very long period of winning premier league matches, with multiple different squads in different conditions. He sucks at this level. This is a truth you and others can’t come to terms with, but the top clubs can as they don’t want to go near him.

TLDR: me right you wrong.

Or, maybe, injuries and an imbalanced squad low on genuine quality is the reason for our league form the last 2 seasons.

All the evidence points to that. If you want to ignore it that's fine. But why you need to continually prove how wrong you are by posting in this thread is quite beyond me. An example:

Lol he's so much better than Ange it's not even funny. The scale of improvement is ridiculous.

An actual coach doing actual coach stuff. Amazing.

There is no other way to describe this post as completely and utterly wrong. Every single word has proved to be wrong. Catastrophically so. 🤷‍♂️

Couldn’t win a single game at Forest btw in a league run that included Burnley. In a squad which has put 6 goals past us unanswered btw.

Just nothing but excuses for a manager who has made failing in England a habit. Loses matches for fun.

Not quite making the point you think it is...

Besides what Postecoglou does outside of Spurs is neither here not there for me. This isn't a Nottingham Forest forum. 🤷‍♂️

It’s a pretty good point as Ange was handed that squad and managed to be total shit with it. You can say it was the players all you want, Ange showed with better ones he still lacks the ability to win league matches.

It’s relevant because this is the Ange thread. Ange did that. You want to big him up and blame the squad at spurs, well we have evidence of him failing at a different squad straight afterwards. Pretty fucking relevant in fact.

I suppose when he ends up at AEK Athens and does well out in the sticks you won’t be bringing that up.

You're completely delusional Jack Russel! You just choose to pile in on the negatives rather than see the situation and Ange for what it was.

We have gone round so many times, but ultimately considering this season and how it has gone for 2 other managers we now know sacking Ange was the wrong decision. People are only now starting to realise the flaws in the squad that many before identified and had sympathy with Ange for what he was having to work with.
Ok...I capitulate..Ange was probably the best manager we ever had...

What exactly does this mean? Can you provide examples of me doing... whatever it is this is supposed to mean?

All I've said is that he overachieved with us by finishing 5th and then winning a European Cup (and making the semi-finals of the League Cup) in a season ruined by catastrophic injuries.

This is simple fact. Just as him being a "legend" of this club is simple fact by dint of being one of only three managers ever to win a European Trophy with us. This isn't "bigging him up" - it's simply acknowledging actual tangible achievements that are now part of Spurs history. Why does this annoy you so much? 🤷‍♂️

36 pages to go btw.

We need to slow this thing down a bit. Would be good to hit the #5000 on the 24th May and the anniversary of our GLORIOUS EUROPEAN TRIUMPH

Hopefully in the same week De Zerbi will be clinching us Premier League safety. 😍

Nope. Definition of opinion.

I guarantee he won’t be considered a legend by a very large % of the fan base. Winning a Europa league absolutely does not automatically make someone a legend, that is fucking stupid. There are people who argue whether Kane is a legend for fuck sake.

He is a cult hero type. That’s it.

Of course winning a European Trophy makes a you a legend. Only 3 managers have ever done it for spurs. 🤷‍♂️

Well that's just silly.

Kane never won anything with Spurs. ;)

Nope. If someone won a conference league at Spurs are they automatically a legend?

The size and status of the “European trophy” obviously matter and the context in which they won it obviously matters. Many don’t consider him a legend, that’s a huge thing for you to decide is factual based on a fucking Europa league.

When we reel out the legends of the club he is absolutely extremely unlikely to be one of them. Except in very obvious cases legend status is very subjective.

He's definitely a cult, with a load of cult followers.

No because the Conference League is a completely new and made up European competition with no history or pedigree.

The Europa League is the equivalent of the old UEFA Cup which we won with Bill Nich and Keith Burkinshaw - and now with Ange Postecoglou. It is part of our history and pedigree in Europe - this shouldn't be difficult or controversial for Spurs fans to understand. And indeed the vast majority of Spurs fans do understand it 🤷‍♂️

But there's always one or two grinches out there sadly. :ange-bored2:

Yeah but it is a European Trophy mate. Look I called it a European Trophy so it is HUGE.

The Europa league has drastically changed in terms of prestige from the old UEFA cup. You can either accept that and still enjoy it for what it is or keep pretending that it is viewed as one of the most major trophies in the modern era.

You can keep saying “vast majority” with no evidence. This forum definitely doesn’t reflect a vast majority viewing Ange as a legend. Don’t know where you get it from other than “hurr durr there was a big parade so they must all think Ange is a legend.

Feel free to start a poll and include cult hero as an option, which is the one I’d expect to win. Son is a legend, not Ange.

On this forum? Are you nuts? :D

You can start it on Reddit, you can start it on Spurscommunity.. start it wherever the fuck you like, I expect results to be similar.

Ange was here for a relatively short term, had big failures along with a success, and the EL is not the CL or PL where to spurs just winning it once probably gives you legend status.

He is firmly cult hero status. He won something big but was and is controversial and was sacked immediately after doing it.

Son is 100% one. Kane people will still debate but I would say defined an era of generally consistent success alongside Son. Other than Son from recent years I don’t think we have a single nailed on legend.

This bit in bold is exactly why he's a legend.

As is this thread which is now 35 pages away from #5000 - so you really need to slow down a bit or you'll ruin my timings :ange-blow:
