What about in the last 15? And how have they done? Between them?

The spl has become one of the worst leagues in Europe! Winning there and getting humiliated in Europe is not the land of giants!

How did Gerrard do at villa? How did villa do when a competent coach took over? That is exactly what we are looking at.

You've yet to give anyone any tangible reasons as to why his brand of football isn't translatable to the Premier League

If you go back 15 years, Celtic has made the knockout stages of the CL twice.

Between them they have beaten Shakhtar Donetsk, Milan, Benfica, Villareal, Barcelona, Ajax, Anderlecht, Stuttgart, Lyon and PSV in the Champions League in that time.
So they've won 11 games in how many? How many times have they been beaten? Fucking way more than they won!!!

I can find the last 10 years only.

22/23 12 games - 0 wins
21/22 0 games dnq
20/21 0 games dnq
19/20 0 games dnq
18/19 0 games dnq
17/18 6 games 1 win
16/17 6 games 0 0 wins
15/16 0 games dnq
14/15 0 games dnq

They are footballing giants in thier own minds only. Their fans are bigots and glory seekers. Huge mate! Sure they would be winning the English league as our teams are shit....

Ok do you really think you can simply transfer a brand of playing and be successful between a pseudo league and one of the best in the world? Why didn't Gerrard win? Why did his replacement do so well? Because it's about his coaching ability!!! Not just mouthing off about style.

Winning in the spl with a team whose wages are multiples higher against 10 out of 11 opponents is not an achievement in terms of style of football. It's just a case of having all the best players by a country mile. Litterlly anybody could win the Scottish league with either of the old firm now.

Even the non-Old Firm sides European record, while extremely minnow-y, isn't quite as bad as I expected. (I'm just diving into Wikipedia now)

Motherwell did get knocked out by an Icelandic side in 2015, and even worse, Hearts lost to a Maltese side at home in 2017.

But in general the other teams beat the minnow countries then fall to the first real team they play.

Aberdeen did play a 2-2 draw at home against Bayern Munich in the first leg of a UEFA Cup knockout tie in 2008 though, that's pretty good.

Dundee United beat AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of an ECL qualifier this year too (don't ask what happened in the second leg in Holland)

FFS having live up there for a while I know even they are humiliated when it come to thier results in Europe.

You need to go back to Aberdeen and utd in the 80s to see the last time they produced in Europe. Hearts in the uefa cup got to the quarters.

They don't fn qualify now!

Today may be the last game of the BigAnge era here in Glasgow. The weather is fucken marvelous. I'm in shorts enjoying a flat white on one of Glasgow's finer pavement cafes. It has occurred to me that my subtle calf-sized Spurs tattoo may, for the first time in these parts, be a controversial emblem placing me in mortal danger.

Depends on tight your shorts are….

I think if you're a good coach, yes. That's pretty obvious. Now you've also got to have something about you as a person to be able to convey that to a squad and make them believe it. But considering you haven't got a clue about Ange Postecoglu outside of "LoL mAnaGeD in AuStrAliA, JaPaN aNd ScOtLanD", I am not sure you can make that judgement.

But when you consider he's won everywhere he's been at international and club level, whilst playing good football and transferring those across multiple leagues I'd say that's pretty good proof that his style of football is transferable.

Why didn't Gerrard win?

Because he evidently wasn't a good enough coach.. He got the job because of his name value and managed to win his first trophy after 9 attempts at Rangers during a time Celtic had their worst period in decades?

Haven't we told you this numerous times?

Winning in the spl with a team whose wages are multiples higher against 10 out of 11 opponents is not an achievement in terms of style of football.

That's like saying Man City can't be praised for the way they play football because they've simply spent more money than anyone else since Guardiola has took charge. Completely negating the fact that they've been coached exceptionally well and look completely different to any City team of the past.

It's just a case of having all the best players by a country mile. Litterlly anybody could win the Scottish league with either of the old firm now.

They may indeed have the best players by a country mile and anybody could probably win the Scottish League with either of the Old Firm teams. But that's not the reason we're after Postecoglu. You do realise that, right?

So tell me again. What tangible reason do you have as to why his brand of football isn't translatable to the Premier League?

When he first arrived he did mate,

That first stretch he was like a tiger pacing the touch line and willed us to beat woolwich to 4th.

Was only after the summer transfer window he started talking us down and sulking
By saying, "maybe I shouldn't be managing this club" after the Burnley game, I think? And I know that maybe it was tongue-in-cheek, but still, that's a uniter?!

"We messed up and the players and I will make sure we're never in this position again, because we're fucking Spurs and you the fans know we're better than that, and we the players and the staff know we're better than that. " That's what a uniter sounds like.
