Against Jose? I’m not overly confident….

I mean, the board should be making money available to fix the squad without selling Kane.

We aren't seeing Liverpool selling Salah to afford a whole new midfield even though they need one.

Guess what? They will get a whole new midfield as well, even though they just spent 100m on Darwin, 60m on Diaz, 40m on Gakpo.
That's because they don't have lightweight owners.
I never really had a problem with the actual amount spent tbh, just the recruitment and overall strategy.

Hopefully Levy actually understands the task at hand, he's hired a good coach that seems to fit what we want, but it will require work and it sounds like it will take a few windows to get going.

Maybe the fact that he hired Ange instead of going for someone like an Enrique despite being cheap and a big name shows a shift in strategy and an acceptance of where we are at as a club.

Of course not. But that doesn't mean that they don't have a style of football that they prefer.

Probably true but that just shows where we are. Rudderless, buying players for systems/styles they aren’t suited to.

It’s all arse about face, cart before the horse.

Decide on a long term way of playing > hire a DoF who fits that > get a manager/scouting team who fits that > get players suited to it.

Until we do this and behave like a modern club rather than reactionaries we will always be a mess, always rebuilding to nowhere.

His name is Angelos. My wife's name Angela but shortened to Ange which she is happy with.
If my name was Angelos I would consider its full spelling or Angelo maybe, but Ange would be the least appealing.
Unless he is using the Johnny Cash theory in the song a boy named Sue.
Seriously I wish him well and am looking forward to it.

The amount spent is one thing. Spreading it out over loads of average players instead of having the balls to go after elite talent when the squad needed it, that's one of the things that held us back.

When we have been good enough to add world class players and get over the edge, mysteriously something always happens and the deal can't get done. Always a totally understandable excuse but they still never get done.

Now the problem is the volume of players needed to fix the squad. Nobody is expecting a Boehly window so they can't all be world class players and we aren't in CL anyway so world class players aren't coming.
This range of player is much more of a comfort zone for Levy.

Not seeing them sell Salah yet, whilst also not seeing them buy any midfielders yet.

However, the sales of Coutinho, Suarez, Sterling, Torres, Mane over the past several years have been to allow them to build the side. They sell a fuck of a lot more players that they would rather keep than we do.

Seems to work for them, but that wasn’t the point you were making.

They have pretty much done the deal for MacAllister.

They will be picking up at least 2 more Mfs.

Coutinho raised them some money but surely you aren't saying that Mane for 30m paid for Darwin, Diaz, and Gakpo.

Sure they are better at selling players but that's a direct result of being better at buying them and having assets other clubs want.

That will be awesome 😎

They could keep GOAT GOAT fully wound up during the ashes along with pleb pleb and Art Vandelay Art Vandelay
Not sure how I feel about being mentioned in the same sentence as that shitgibbon.

But yes happy for this appointment. A coach I actually like.

Will a front three of

Son Kane Kulu

Work with a 4-3-3 pressing murderball tactic?

I’d imagine he wants more pace on the right over kulusevski, son will need to find his bollocks again aswell or he’ll be out on his arse, Post isn’t scared to drop players or phase them out which is desperately what we need

A midfield of

Bent Skipp Bissouma/sarr

Seems solid enough for what he asks them to do

Then we get to defence which is an absolute nightmare

Udogie Dier Romero Porro

Replacing Dier with a footballer is incredibly important, Jury still out on Romero and porro for me, udogie a bit of an unknown

Obviously goalkeeper we need a new one that’s good with his feet

We need 5 signings minimum to play his football imo

I’m not saying selling Mane paid for those players no. I am saying they have history of selling their better / best players to fund squad rebuilding. Just like we would be doing if we sold Kane.
