Potter is a good tactically flexible manager, but I hope we do well this season it's just with how the season ended it's up in the air

Wouldn't be worried too much. Squad wasn't suited for the most part, too many losers we had to rely on like Emerson, Skipp and Hojberg. With a sprinkle of Lo Celso and Gil thrown in.

Bergvall and Gray is a good start. Players who aren't just good on the ball, but suit the way we want to play. I just wish we'd hurry up and get more signings in and get the ones we don't want out.

Season can't come soon enough though, actually looking forward to seeing us tomorrow against Hearts and hoping some of the kids impress.

Repeating the same criticism, post after post, across multiple threads has reached the point where it has just become white noise.

At this stage, whenever I find it difficult to fall asleep, I open up the forum, read a couple of white noise contributions and generally wake up about 7 hours later.

I wish that would work with me!

Maybe I should try some of these Times posts…..

Just selling or releasing the five wankers in your first sentence improves us, even if no-one comes in

Australia to Japan to Scotland is about as sideways as it gets.
Celtic are by far and away the most dominant side in Scotland and have been for well over a decade since Rangers went belly up. Celtic in a "diabolical mess" is finishing 2nd once every 10 years. Winning titles there is as easy as showing up for work and not being a dick to your players.

I can't see why so many people think it's remotely comparable to talk about Australia, Japan and Scotland compared to the PL and Bundesliga.
If just winning titles is all that matters, why are we not taking guys who win titles in league 2 or the national league? They're probably more competitive.

No disrespect but you have a Europhillic view of football. Japan beat both Spain and Germany at the WC. This is the Spain that just won the Euro's.

The J-League is definately a step from the A-League and IMO is also another level above the SPL. I've watched them all.

Finishing second for Celtic is finishing last. They went from -25 points behind Rangers to +4 points in a saeason.

I have absolutely no doubt that Postecoglou could comfortably manage in the Bundesliga. None at all. Could he win it-at the right club, for sure.

It's only been running since 2005. The previous league, the NSL, was disbanded in 2004 due to financial problems and public fallout over ethnic rivalry between clubs. The A-League was formed in 2005 with mainly new franchises and specifically avoided any ethnic alignment of the new teams. It has grown from 8 to 12 team competition with the addition of 7 new franchises and 3 clubs going bust.

It's a salary-capped competition which makes it difficult for one team to dominate. In the 2011 season for example, 2010 premiers Sydney FC dropped from first to 9th, while 2010 wooden spooners lifted from 10th to 3rd. Even City Group club Melbourne City dropped to 6th last season after having won the previous three seasons.

Salary cap limitations make it a difficult comp to come in and win as an owner or manager; you can't just buy a title oligarch-style. The list of former A-League Men managers includes Robbie Fowler, Dwight Yorke, Terry Butcher, Paul Nevin.
You have a team called Wooden Spooners?

Noticeably he was taking some of the training sessions in the spurs play preseason video. Based on his comments after the Man City game I said I thought we might see him doing more of the actual training. Glad he’s doing that honestly.

Season must be close to starting, because the Ange bashing has started!

Guarantee you go on any football club forum the manager will have people who don’t like him.

Gareth Southgate has given England the most successful period in terms of tournament progression and look at the shit he gets.

Just the way the world works.

As long as he doesn’t piss off Daniel any time soon and gets the results Danny boy expects on the pitch then Ange will be fine.

It's the Spain that played shitty football and sacked the coach and started again. Germany were even worse. And where do the best players in the Asian national teams play? It ain't fucking Asian leagues, is it.

They had one bad season. One. Stop making out like Ange is fucking Jesus and walked on water. He did nothing other managers haven't done there. Managers who have far less fucking fanbois.

I have absolutely no doubt that Postecoglou could comfortably manage in the Bundesliga. None at all. Could he win it-at the right club, for sure. Yeah. Bayern.

Japanese players are notoriously reluctant to leave their homeland. Its only recently they have started to do it. But I'll put aside the quality of the Spanish squad versus the Japanese, and lets talk the managers:

You can be a loser and a disaster of a manager like Enrique was, but if you're European, and have a name as a player from a big European club, you're then in the mix to manage Spurs.

Who was Japan's manager? Don't know? Neither do I. That's the point-the Asian manager will not get the opportunity a Louis Enrique or a completely unproven one like Alonso will get.

As for Celtic, the trophies in the decade prior to Ange are the one's where Rangers were either not in the SPL, or without the funds to put out a competitive side.

Postecoglou has the second highest win % (73.45 versus O'Neill's 75.53 ) of ANY manager that managed for a full season, in Celtic's history and the second fewest number of games per trophy @ 22.6 games versus Lennon's 22 games per trophy.

I'm not a fanboit BTW, he has his flaws, who doesn't, but he can manage. Whether it works at Spurs, we'll find out

Yeah. The onset of the internet and online fandoms have created an environment were it is just as much about what you don't like as about what you like.

People care way more about being "right" than about actually just being fans of their teams or any other sort of fandom now. Look at any player thread on here. It is just as much negative stuff as it is positive stuff because people will want to be "right" about a player being bad or whatever.

I think something that all spurs fans agreed on was that the manager needs to be given time.

How much time is the big question. Just over 2 years was the average I think. Which was boosted by Pep and Klopp and Moyes. Maybe all 3 no longer there come the end of this season.

So I guess it will be lower by the end of this season. Hopefully Ange can join the two year club.
