Yet that better coach finished 8th, 8th, 5th in his first three seasons before that wonderful coaching bore fruit and they started conceding less chances and creating more.

Yet that better coach finished 8th, 8th, 5th in his first three seasons before that wonderful coaching bore fruit and they started conceding less chances and creating more.
You're simple.

getting bent over and buggered is what that is.
So what are you saying, we should wait 3 years before we actually see consistent results under Postecoglou?Yet that better coach finished 8th, 8th, 5th in his first three seasons before that wonderful coaching bore fruit and they started conceding less chances and creating more.
That can't be right because of the magical 2nd year we've been told about. So what are you saying, we should wait 3 years before we actually see consistent results under Postecoglou?
That's a really good post, balanced and sums up so many things.I'm not a fan of Postecoglou's system and I didn't like his hiring. But the old saying, "In for a penny, in for a pound" applies. We've got to find out if the system works. It's an extreme approach, but that extreme nature is what is supposed to give Spurs an advantage. Once you dial back to 80% Ange Ball, it's just one more attacking system but riskier than most. Through drills, repetition, and matching the players to the system it might be the next big thing. I don't think it is, but you have to find out.
Not sure that that's any more of a concern than the 31 goals conceded against the bottom12 clubs.League goals scored against us last season:
City 5
Woolwich 5
Liverpool 5
Chelsea 6
Newcastle 5
Villa 2
United 2
It was extremely easy for most of the top teams to score against us last season. That’s 30 goals conceded in 14 matches against them.
| Team | Conceded vs Top 8 | Conceded vs Bottom 12 |
| Aston Villa | 30 | 31 |
| Spurs | 30 | 31 |
| Chelsea | 32 | 31 |
| Newcastle | 27 | 35 |
| Man Utd | 27 | 31 |
This 100%. Solanke absolutely fits the profile he likes of an in the box forward that takes the chances he's given at a good rate that presses well.Thought this was a great comment from the comment section explaining the rationale behind Solanke being a great fit for us.
"Comparing Solanke's positioning with Celtic's Kyogo is smart. Most English "analysts" haven't taken the time to look at Ange's previous teams, all of which required a front foot, finish in the box forward. Besart Berisha in Brisbane, Junior at Yokohama and Kyogo Furuhashi at Celtic. And when Ange was asked after a game about Kyogo's goals, he would instead reference the strikers pressing and off the ball runs. Solanke is soooo an Ange system forward."
Possibly, if we see progress. Building a club with solid foundations does take time particularly if the budget is not limitless. So what are you saying, we should wait 3 years before we actually see consistent results under Postecoglou?
True. Not sure Ange will last long enough to find out though.Yet that better coach finished 8th, 8th, 5th in his first three seasons before that wonderful coaching bore fruit and they started conceding less chances and creating more.
The cycle will just repeat itself then. With our dear leader and his budget, we’re not gonna accomplish anything overnight. It’s gonna take a manager time and a fair bit of luck to build something that can fight teams who are more ambitious.
Not sure that that's any more of a concern than the 31 goals conceded against the bottom12 clubs.
Also not particularly out of step with the rest of places 4-8:
Team Conceded vs Top 8 Conceded vs Bottom 12 Aston Villa 30 31Spurs 30 31Chelsea 32 31Newcastle 27 35Man Utd 27 31
We need to do better defensively to move into top 3, against all clubs obviously.
doubt itIt's the tactical flexibility for me, it's literally the only thing but he had 1 bad run, he deserves time like we will give him but he is being backed as much as our club will back a manager
I'd love to see us take the Europa seriously
Ange will need to show improvement over last seasons dip AND the same problems evident all pre-season. Otherwise it's his fault and no one elses. The cycle will just repeat itself then. Disagree given for the 'real' fan bollocks.Ange will need to show improvement over last seasons dip AND the same problems evident all pre-season. Otherwise it's his fault and no one elses.
I like to blame Levy for everything as much as the next next (real) fan, but if a team is getting worse by every metric, there's no point sticking.
So you're saying even the Levy fans want to blame him as well then?Disagree given for the 'real' fan bollocks.
Agreed with the rest of it.
