In this system, players have to convert every half decent chance and never misplace a pass to beat...Leicester.

God forbid we are able to defend when the other team has the ball. We will simply push on until we can get 98% possession in every game, then the ball will never enter our penalty area.

I just think a lot of us can see us finishing fifth or even eighth and it’s frustrating. But realistically where else are we going to be with this squad? It has had a lot spent on it now, which was needed but is it enough? All the same problems from last season are still there and the manager hasn’t got the player in he wanted.

I suppose realistically we are going to finish where we are expected to. The PL is pretty much set in stone nowadays. It’s losing its excitement. Hopefully the charges stick on city and they’re relegated which at least will spice things up a bit.
Why is finishing 5th bad?

We drew a football match last night.

I just don't get why after drawing a football match, everyone knows we should have won gets an over analysis of why Ange's football doesn't work? It clearly worked in the first half and parts of the second but unfortunately the players on the pitch didn't convert the chances. If they had have scored does Ange's football go from being unviable to the best in the league?

Haha and what about when we were sitting 3rd under Conte, in the Champions League and yet everyone was moaning about 'Not playing attacking football'.

I seem to remember that was a pretty negative time aswell.

Some sections of our fanbase deserve nothing for being so miserable and fickle.
If you're winning the majority are happy. I mean a lot of the football was shit in his last season but the expectation was that it might turn and we',d start playing better up until probably Sheff Utd. No one moaned about Conte in the last 3 months of his first season because we played well ,won a lot of games and looked a serious side.

Problem is where do you go from here.

Elite manager: Jose/Conte - can’t use them as don’t support them well enough.

High press manager: same issue as Jose/Conte need specialist players which take either years to develop or lots of money.

Defensive manager: Nuno - fans hate it, anti-Spurs.

Jol/Redknapp pragmatist: that brand of football doesn’t really work anymore at least in terms of being successful. I suppose Eddie Howe is the closest but he is already with Newcastle.

Your pretty much left begging Pochettino to quit the USA and come back.
From what I saw of liverpool since pre-season, Slot would brave been a perfect fit.

Organised, balanced, stable structure, yet still a strong attacking bias.

Because.

It didn't work, because we only scored one goal. It needs a higher success of goals in order to protect the result. The theory works, it's the execution.

And secondly because "we" pay the highest prices in the entire premier league. And it's been so long since any tangible success and even those were the lowest acceptable trophy. The 1999 Worthington Cup and the 2008 equivalent. Whatever the sponsor was I can't remember.

We've been starved of success for so long, and the "nearly" era under Poch was replaced with utter tosh for five years.

Most fans patience is massively eroded.

Goals change games. If we'd have stomped Leicester for the 3/4 we deserved it would be different. Instead it's panic stations for how the second half of last season played out.

1:09 in this video, chance for Brennan was a much better chance than the side-netting you claimed was a good chance for Leicester in the second half. i never even counted it amongst the good chances we created in the game.

Slightly better chance because Brennan had a better finish, they were pretty much from the exact same angle.

How would you not count that as a good chance for us ffs? lol. Come on Rich you're just being silly now.

Like I said, agree to disagree, anybody who isn't hand in hand thinking everything is all sunshine and rainbows at the moment is a negativity merchant in your eyes and that's because you love Ange, if we were on the same run of form with the same issues under a manager you disliked I would bet you would be saying something different.

The fact is I want Ange to succeed and I want to be positive about the season ahead and acknowledging we have big issues doesn't make people less of a supporter.

Difference being Johnson was wide open and so was Son on the other side if he’d attacked the cross.
I didn’t count it because I’d forgotten about it but really it’s a much better chance than the Leicester one because we had a defender blocking any angle except the side netting. If they scored from that it would have be a miracle

He can take responsibility all he wants it’s not going to magically improve when you have the same players trying to fix the same issue…

The responsibility was on people above ange to sort out the issue in the summer and they’ve given him just 1 first team player to do that, when it was clear we needed a lot more .
But Ange has clearly, publicly said he has the final say on incomings.

So he's either lying or he's got what he wants

If he's lying, he's a yes man fruad.

If he's gotten what he wants, then he's deluded and his talent ID is dodgy af, (for the most part).

leading up to the vardy chance, the spurs players look lethargic. serious lack of intensity in the press and they do some basic knockabout and have a one on one...he waited another 10 mins after this to get fresh legs on and a spike in intensity.

subs should of been brought on in the early 60s. he always leaves subs late.

Perfectly reasonable to be very concerned at potential to continue in this direction.

Obviously the system has been defensively poor last season, but in the Leicester match I didn't feel like we were open, outside of a few shots in a 15 minute window, one of which happened simply because a CB switched off, which isn't a system issue.
