Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What are the encouraging signs? We are playing like shit, concede goals essentially EVERY game, don't even score that much and every game is a struggle. Conte and Mou were also shit, that doesn't mean this is encouraging. Ange's had a year with the team and they are actually playing WORSE now than they were when he arrived.

We need competent people running the club from the top obviously. We sign tons of good youth players but with no clear planning with older mentors which means they end up not realizing their potential while also stunting our current performances. Liverpool, Woolwich and City literally gave us the blueprint - sign great and mentally strong players in the ages of 22-25 for 2-3 years then start signing a mix of proven and potentially great players to give the team institutional knowledge.

I'm not gonna name names but we should have went for a manager with a modern footballing education. But the manager won't matter if the structure above him is shit.

My thoughts exactly. There's nothing you can point to that says the club is headed in the right direction. Or any direction.

The team that went into last season is basically the same one today. Subtract Kane, add Solanke, fine... I'm glad that after a year they decided to sign Kane's replacement.

Being more direct or seeking to dominate are fine but in total, the entire recipe is the same as the one that didn't work last year when we were grateful to finish 5th.

Are we to believe Ange is going to turn water into wine now, absent any signs of progress last year? With all the same faces? That doesn't seem sensible.

It seems far more likely that his seat will be warming progressively and we'll all be brawling in October once again about whether Ange is wrong for the job or he's yet another manager who hasn't been backed adequately.

This truly is purgatory...

My problem with the match yesterday is it was obvious we would need some technicians like Kulusevski and a Bergvall too break them down but he insisted with Johnson and Sarr. If it wasn’t obvious from the start then it was damn clear at halftime those were the switches needed too be made yet he insisted with the latter for 75+ minutes.

The devil is in the details and those kinds of mistakes will get you punished at this level. He needs too be better as well as the players on the pitch. There will be games for Johnson and Sarr - against sides where we won’t have as much of the ball- and there will be games for Kulusevski and Bergvall - against sides where we’ll dominate.

Ange is 50+ been a manager 15+ yrs if he doesn't know now what changes needed or how to change way team plays he will never know
even top managers took a couple of years to understand how they could use 5 subs (still playing as if was 3 subs)
this is top level football not pub leagues, look what the championship players/managers say " in Championship you get away with mistakes, in EPL they are punished"
Ange can get away with his style at Celtic (big fish little pond) or in backwater football BUT not in this league
we are in for an other few years of wasted times & wasted money on HIS players, before Levy moves to the next manager

Sacking another manager would set the club back even further.
I admit, I am finding it frustrating that the same shit is still happening and nothing appears to have changed.

The issue at HT wasn't that we couldn't break them down, we could.

The issue was finishing our chances.

It's difficult isn't it mate.
We all know where the real problem lies. But if we have a manager who exacerbates the problem then what the fuck do you do? Or hope for?
Wait for yet another season to potentially be written off but Christmas?
Tough one.

So neggy in here for some of you,
1 game into the season.

Need to give yourself a lil holiday in the sun and find some happiness.

Plenty to be positive about, shit result. The first 45mins was 10-1 shot count, 9-0 corner count.

Bring on Everton, a little bit sharper and get this season going.

leading up to the vardy chance, the spurs players look lethargic. serious lack of intensity in the press and they do some basic knockabout and have a one on one...he waited another 10 mins after this to get fresh legs on and a spike in intensity.

subs should of been brought on in the early 60s. he always leaves subs late.
We were getting battered for a good while till he made out first sub at 78 minutes.

I mean surely if you're being outplayed for prolonged periods in the second half you could try to do something proactive to counter that.

Perfectly reasonable to be very concerned at potential to continue in this direction.

If we have 13 points after 12 games at the start of this season, there's going to be serious questions.

The bad 29 games were heavily masked by our fantastic start last year so it didn't feel as catastrophic, but if this season starts as last season ended then we'll be up shit creek.

Watching the game it felt like Cooper noticed that and in the second half instructed them to force the play down our right hand side.

I don’t think it affected us until the first goal but that’s probably because we were playing one of the worst teams in the league.

I’m expecting other teams to do the same now.
Ur basing ur belief that they are the worst team in the league on what? They have Vardy, they will stay up IMO. Cooper is a good coach, not saying they are awsome, but I don’t think they are shite is a bit strong, but yeah we should have won the game easily.

Ffs we were not getting battered at all in the first half, hyperbolic bullshit. Il sure a lot of posters on here don’t watch the games, they jump on the wanker train.
