Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

set pieces arent important
subs arent important
Woolwich winning the league is irrelevant

get this absolute cunt job out of this club and out of the country too. piece of shit.

imagine being told youre going to have a manager come in who doesnt care about the scum winning the league, doesnt care about set pieces and doesnt think subs are important....and theres people that want this mug! is this a sick joke.

In response to a journo asking if he could have made subs earlier:

"All these things are totally irrelevant to me, substitutions and all those kind of things.

If you're not competitive, it doesn't matter what you do, you don't deserve to win, we didn't deserve to win based on our second half performance; irrespective of subs or anything else and I think if you do get something out of the game, then you're falsely rewarded and I don't want to get falsely rewarded"

This may be the most idiotic statement I have heard from a football manager in a very long time, if not ever.

So, according to his own words, our second half performance was bad and we didn't deserve to win but making subs are irrelevant and if he did make a sub and we managed to win the game he wouldn't want it because we would have been falsely rewarded for, you know, turning the game around with subs...

It makes no fucking sense at all, why are you even the manager then you clueless moron if not to change the game with the one thing you have control over outside of tactics?

Also, I thought he was a winner? What does it matter if you're "falsely rewarded" if you win a fucking football match?

It's arrogance, ignorance and stupidity, a bumbling cunt with no clue as far as I am concerned.

JFC. This guy is a moron. He'd rather lose the game, the make subs and win the game, because then it would be falsely rewarded.

That is one of the most stupidest things I've ever heard a manager say in football, in history. If that was a rival manager we would be taking the piss for years. Arrogant fucking fraud. I've had enough of this cunt, get him out of the club.

I would say maybe expecting your team to keep running, pressing, attacking flat out for every minute if a first half will result in them being flatter than the opposition in the second half. Porro was incredibly exposed throughout this game by the space behind him and the space between him and our free-roaming midfield. I like watching us play most days, and I want us to stick with Ange, but he has shortcomings that need to be addressed, and he needs to be man enough to accept that if he's to be more successful at the top level.

You’re not entirely wrong in what you’re saying, but I would pose 3 questions to you;

1) assuming you want Ange sacked, who would you replace him with?
2) with the players we currently have, where do you think we should realistically be finishing?
2) do you accept the true blame for the perpetual cycle of mediocrity we find ourselves in has to be with the ownership?

1) I don’t want him sacked. I’ve said before - end of the season and assess. Sacking him now = limiting options and Mason. I do want to realistically assess where we’re at and I’m not going to do stuff like claim we’re on some mega run because we had 3 piss easy cup games. That sort of shit is just annoying.

2) We have the 5th best squad in the league, so 5th (again) is realistic. We definitely have a better squad than Villa, they just have a better manager. I think our squad shades Chelsea’s overall but they have Palmer who is miles ahead of anything we have in terms of star quality. He’s like when we had a Bale. That’s worth more than having a better centre back and fullbacks.

3) Abso-fucking-lutely. I don’t HATE Ange. I doubt his reputation. I am yet to see any great in game management or be pleasantly surprised by us tactically in a game. He’s very good at some other stuff. He’s obviously not terrible. I just don’t think he’s elite.

ENIC are tremendously happy for us to settle on not elite.

Ultimately we’ve wasted two great performances away at our immediate rivals for Europe. Pure defensive stupidity and wank sub patterns by Ange mean we get 0 points at St James and the Amex despite pinning them back and dominating. It’s fucked because you don’t get to do that at every away match, and we’ve effectively wasted them.

it shows what the squad is capable of! now it just needs to be in the hands of a competent manager! this squad is decent. its lost 8 games from the last 14 and won 5.....thats no where near fucking good enough for this group of players!

this charlatan is massively holding this squad back!

We are basically like a boxer who is incredibly active early on, throwing everywhere, slick, constant pressure. If the opponent folds early its great, if they are able to stay standing later then we are out of gas and not clever enough to really take the sting out and waste time.

We are insanely one dimensional, basically. Our one thing is great fun and high energy but we have a soft centre. Teams pretty much always have large periods against us where you can see our press has fallen off and we’re tired. And individually we make too many mistakes to weather those periods.

Now arguably you could say Ange is establishing the fundamentals and then we will add more strings to the bow and become a team who wins points as well as plaudits.

Newcastle 100% we were mostly better than them and had our boot on their throat (for huge periods they couldn’t play out at all) but Brighton wasn’t a whole good performance, it was one half.

The second they were by far the better team and good value for three points.

Looks like we are talking about two different matches mate.

When did we sit back with 10 men behind the ball? And when did he change his tactics? For all what I saw, our team was running around like headless chickens not attacking and not defending. The fans (check match thread) begging the brave manager to do something. BHA changed tactics and made subs, but what did we do? Our players couldn't (and not expected to do on their own since they execute directions and plan) deal with their changes. That's the point me and others of the same opinion are talking about. He stands there with "what's-for-dinner-tonight" look on his face. Looks like one of the coaches whispered in his ear "Hey Ange, we need to sub" and he blabs subs names without any clue of what that sub is supposed to do.

And he always brags about "we play our way", "we play one way". Since when did he change his tactics to please critics as you mentioned? That's news for me. If his idea (and yours maybe) of changing tactics is "doing nothing", then we are really in trouble.

the narrative is that ange never changes his tactics, so the non smart people like you who can't think for yourself assume that this happened, i call it 'scenario fulfillment'

the team sat off, the high press was non existent and it was replaced with zero pressure, when brighton advanced then spurs dropped back deeper and had all players behind the ball, from the 49th minute until brighton took the lead

this is good news for people who called for ange to do this and try to see out the game but bad news for anybody who wanted spurs to win the match because that just invited brighton in and cramped up our defenders

Ange didn’t do anything. He had no control at all. The team were forced back. A low block doesn’t work very well if it’s against your will and everyone’s shitting it because they’re not very good at this and they’re fucking knackered and can’t press anymore.

We were fucked. And then we got the football equivalent of a flashbang so everyone was really tired and really scared all at once. Recipe for total fucking disaster.

For me ange doesnt have a personality. Its all shallow shit. Good in a presser talking about his accomplishments cos hes a fraud. But he doesnt give me confidence or motivation. On the sideline hes as meek as they come. The only time he showed a bit of life was to screech at a Spurs fan for criticising him

Id rather have tim fucking sherwood back. It comes across as ange being all about ange. Every single opportunity he’s gone against the fans. Secretly i dont think he likes the club or the fanbase and just took the oppurtinity

Yeah he’s got to go. Sorry. Line in the sand. That is a sackable fucking statement, indicative of dizzying arrogance and stupidity. That cannot be the mindset of a professional manager at this level.

I’ve just lost all confidence in Ange Postecoglou leading our footballing project. He must be replaced at the end of the season if we’re serious.

By the way, I am not the only non-smart person who didn't see tactic changes, the 10-men behind the ball, getting back defending without attacking, and changing tactics. Almost the whole worlds. Including the "pros" in the video below:

They seem to suggest that his "mistake" is not getting back to defense and tightening things back and not changing tactics. Contrary to what you talk about.

no this was all starting 2 minutes after halftime and well before anybody should be feeling tired, their opening goal is not the team being forced back, it was a weird half assed narrow high line, their left winger totally open and then the defensive line drops off and happens again after the goal a few minutes later on the other side and for the next 15 minutes

this is not the so called ange ball with relentless pressing to win the ball, this is different, this is some weird experimental high line mutant ninja catenaccio

good job you have found other non smart people who repeat the narrative and assume it happened here, im surprised they didn't bring up the chelsea down to 9 men game

if Glen Hoddle was on the air then he would bring it up pre game at halftime and fulltime

you asked when did they drop back, i replied and you reached for the pundits, but if you want to go on a pundit arms race then ive got paul scholes and tim sherwood saying tottenham problem was sitting back and not playing their usual attacking game

btw let me know which goal comes about because spurs were playing too attacking, don't let some weirdo pundits do your talking for you, you should have responded yourself
