It's not one loss though mate. How many embarrassing, utterly abject defeats have we seen since the turn of the year?
I am not Ange out yet, but I don’t understand how people seem to ignore last season’s results when defending him. We ended the season in a bad way, this should not be ignored.

Next game is at home to one of our 3 closest and most bitter rivals. And the weakest one too. He hasn't won a single game in 7 attempts. If this becomes 8 he has to go immediately.
His record in these games is shambolic and it needs to improve with immediate effect. No excuses for not beating a poor West Ham side at home.

The second half of last season included embarrassing away defeats at Brighton, Fulham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea. This season we have one point from Leicester, Newcastle and Brighton, all games that we were in complete control of. The away from is disturbing at best and Ange seems either incapable or unwilling to deal with it. The lack of in game management is frightening.
His attitude seems to be, keep playing this way lads - eventually you will become so good at it that the odd mistake at the back won't matter. Sorry Ange, that simply won't cut it at this level.

Yeah and in Klopps 3rd season he was like 9th after 9 games with 13 points having just got thumped 4-1 by the mighty Spurs.

Yep that day really looked like we would kick on. Dele was fantastic. A very good day out at Wembley.

But Klopp 3rd season they finished 4th (just behind us) having only lost 5 games. His 2nd season 4th as well.
If Ange finishes 4th the next two seasons his job is more than safe. Daniel will probably buy him a Bentley.

But I’m just really looking at this 2nd season scenario we find ourselves in with Ange. Can we kick on? Or at least stay the same in terms of league position?
Klopp finished 4th in his and Arteta 8th. 2nd season in a row in 8th for him.
The board at Woolwich kept faith in Arteta while over here we were all laughing at him. My friend who knows pep and arteta quite well told me he’d come good and pep and everyone at city was full of praise for him. I thought he was mad.

Wonder if Daniel has faith in his decision to appoint Ange like the Woolwich board did if we don’t finish top 4? Time will tell. Long way to go in the league yet.
Season Jose had us top after 10 games we finished 7th!!

I think all this chat after 7 games is just noise - our fixtures before the next int break are

West Ham (H)
AZ (H)
Palace (A)
City (H) EFL
Villa (H)
Galatasary (A)
Ipswich (H)

All winnable, especially considering City will be playing a weakened team.

If we don't pick up a min of 10 points from those prem fixtures my concern will have grown quite a bit. Think Turkey will be a tough place to go - would be happy with a draw there, but we should be beating AZ at home and I want to see a proper good performance vs City in the cup.

If we end GW 11 on 20 points we'll be satisfied.... 22 would be very good and around our average position after 11 games when we have finished in the top 4.

Ange has won 50 points from the last 105 available.
Ten Hag has won 53 from 105.

Can anyone spot the difference in narrative?
Exactly 👏

yeah and we've also lost one game in six, gotten 6 points from a possible 9 etc etc , when you massage the stats by cherry picking which games to include to prove a point.... well it's pointless
What the actual fuck

His sample size is the last THIRTY FIVE GAMES FFS!

how the hell in God's name can that be described as cherry picking 😆

It's crazy but people keep doing stuff like this. Forget last season, focus on Carryerbag and Coventry. It's just denial. I'm just like I know Nutter-Naylor Nutter-Naylor is am bloody desperate for us to just click start on a 21 game unbeaten run....BUT the underlying metrics are not great indicators.

It’s notable we haven’t played any of the bottom 4 yet. Ipswich look like they will struggle all season.
Wolves and Southampton 2 points out of a possible 42.
You’d hope / expect we can get 9 points from those 3 matches alone in the first round of fixtures.

We just really need to start picking up more points from the top 6 if we really want to compete at the top of the table.

After reading this thread, I realised how low I have sunk as a Spurs fan. All the fans complaining about Ange and our points tally - whereas I'm calm and accepting of what's happening. I'm just happy that we're trying to play some sort of watchable football. Years of being Spurs fan have finally broken me

True, though just picking up an extra 6 at home would put us in the mix.

Last season, our dropped points against Wolves (6) West Ham (5) Fulham (3) and Everton (2) would, if reversed have given us an extra 16 points and left us on 82. Same as Liverpool.

For me, those are the games we need to reverse first and foremost

of course you would think that, youre a little ange fanboy.

"I don’t see anyone complaining about Ange in the first half"...yea, its a shame that the game is actually 2 halves and managers are allowed to effect the game...believe it or not, managers actually do that in football over here! they make changes that benefit their team!

"werners end product"..what the player that your hero wanted? then re-signed for another fucking year after the first failure!
I think you need to read Ange’s comments after the game. He knew it was going to shit but he decided not to solve the problem because the players went against the basic principles of the system. Go back and watch the first 2 goals for Brighton. Forget about Udogie’s error. Look at the the front 5, they’re all retreating, jogging backwards failing to press. This is why the goals came. You would think that straight after half time our players would come out of the blocks with the foot on Brighton’s throat and killed the game just like at Man Utd. Instead they were too busy thinking about their national teams or suffering fatigue. Maddison came out and said that the half time team talk was about not getting complacent so I think it sounds like Ange did warn them…

I’m not saying I necessarily agree with what Ange did but I think he was trying to make a point to the players by not changing things. Now he has 2 videos that he can show the players. Video 1, Man Utd 3-0 away. This is what happens when we stick to our principles. Video 2, Brighton 2-3 away. This what happens when we go away from our game plan. He did say at the fan forum that he would not be changing and parking the bus. He’s not stupid, he know he can grind out a result by changing thing up but he doesn’t want to.

Now I’m ok if you want to call me an Ange Fan boy for the second time but please note that I did criticise him for his selection and in another thread I mentioned that Spence and Bissouma should have featured more. I also criticised our build up play after the Woolwich game and said we needed to be more direct when we win the ball from the press.

As for Werner, we need to remember that he’s been signed as Bryan Gil’s replacement. He’s 3rd or 4th choice. It’s just unfortunate that Son, Odobert and Richarlison are all injured at the same time. I think most fans would agree that he’s a better back up than Gil.

Anyway I liked your post, it made me think…

thats fantastic management that. so throw the players under the bus and instead of dragging them off like any other manager for not 'sticking to the basic principles of the system' he leaves them on so the entire club suffers. its a great message to the bench too. i bet the players absolutely love him.

how long do we wait to reap the rewards of the great ange postecoglou, part time football manager full time life guru? its over a year in now and it seems hes still not done teaching everyone big life lessons. when do we actually start looking like a competent football team?

The ‘fanboy’ term is so childish and pathetic. Whether it be Ange/Levy/Son/brennan etc

We’re all spurs fans and want what’s best for spurs and for spurs to win and be successful

I get very irritated when accuse others of being a fan of a ‘business’ or a ‘spreadsheet’ etc

Childish nonsense

As I said, I’m not saying I agree or disagree with what he did. Will it work? Who knows… I don’t think it’s throwing the players under the bus, maybe just teaching them a lesson… perhaps the players will learn not to make the same mistake twice after this.

How long do we have to wait for success? Who knows. Maybe it will come perhaps it won’t under Ange. What’s the alternative? Southgate, Moyes, Potter.

I think there are a lot of strong teams in the EPL this year. I feel at best we will finish 7th and that next season will be pushing to finish in top 4

You clearly weren’t here when Jose was manager.

That man has lunatics following him for whom “fanboy” is quite a nice way to describe them.

Childish and pathetic is actually quite a good way to refer to them.

I would fucking love it if Ange turned it around and won the Europa League. I wouldn't really care where we finished as long as we didn't go down.
