So wrong. See, you don’t know Ange at all. You don’t have an intimate knowledge of what he’s been through like us Aussies do. He is so far from the type to stay quiet that he walked out on a World Cup after qualifying because he’s not a yes man and he does rock the boat. You’re getting the public persona confused with the private.

Walking away from the Australia job is not the same as walking away from a top 4 PL job and all the incredible money and status that this role offers. Not even fucking close.

And you don't know him either, he's not your mate, you're just a fan watching from afar and idealising a figure because you feel he represents you in some way. Projection.

They absolutely count... but it would probably be better to look at a rolling 12 months... i.e. Ange's last 38 games (a full season) . If we do that then it's: P 38 W 18 D 6 L 14 Pts 60 - on average that gets you a 7th place position in the PL. Those 10 games, rightly or wrongly, quickly changed our expectations.
The problem Ange needs to resolve is switching the losses and draws ratio. It’s not an unreasonable goal given the amount of losses by 1 goal. He manages that it’s another 8 points in the bank and puts things in a much better position.

Top 4 :):):)

Apart from that, you are right. I wouldn't and I don't think he has the luxury to throw 15mil in the bin. Although I'm sure that Levy added in the contract a clause like'if you're sacked on a Tuesday there is no compensation'.

At least he’s Spurs!

Well yeah, but then Chelsea aren't exactly normal. Even City don't have their quality in depth.

Liverpool, Woolwich, United etc when all squads are fully fit aren't hugely far off ours.
Vs Scum bench:

Neto // Forster
Califori // Dragusin
Zinchencko // Davies
Tierney // Gray
Jorginho // Bentancur
Merino // Bergvall
Trossard // Werner
Jesus // Richy
Sterling // Odobert

I'd probably give us 2/9 there.

But happy clappy levy lovers like The Extra Mile(sey) The Extra Mile(sey) protect their ENIC overlords and want to sack the manager etc etc etc

Pretty sure that's how it works 😉

Is it though? That could have been a career killer for him.
I know him better than you and have followed his career more closely than you.
You have zero understanding of the football scene in Australia and how volatile and vociferous the media are towards it. And you have zero understanding of the pressure and scrutiny that managing Australia brings. Again you’re just another football snob who thinks the game revolves around Europe. Your comments are really naive.

You are a wonderful man

I hope you know that

I don't care about the football scene in Australia anymore than you probably care about the Aussie footie scene in the UK, because its microscopic compared to the football scene in Europe. Sorry.

Pressure and scrutiny vs tens of millions of guaranteed pounds if you stay in and around the PL top 6. It isn't comparable. You seem to think he's this pillar of morality and would always walk away for honour, but you don't really have a clue. You just have someone you idolise. MY comments are naive? You're a fucking fanboy mate, this guy is your hero!

You may be able to answer this better than me. I've seen him kick off with people outside of his club/national team to defend himself. But has he ever said a bad word about the people who pay his wages?

I'm almost certain we'd have sold Richarlison when signing Solanke if we could, but Richarlison being injured and stating he didn't want to go screwed that plan right up. You could argue if that happened then Ange really would have been stuffed.

I'm fed up with idiot "non football fans" suggesting that the women are better than the men because they do/did better in tournaments. If they're so good, play the men. If they win they can take our place at the next World Cup.

This is hilarious.
Just so people are aware folks, he/she put me on ignore because I can't remember a bet we made months ago.
I have absolutely no intention of getting out of it. But he/she won't refresh my memory. Instead he/she just called me a tosser and put me on ignore.
I reckon he/she think they're losing the bet that I can't remember and saw a way out.
Like I said, being the Socceroos was his dream job. He walked away from it prior to a World Cup, in large part due to disagreements with the Football federation.

You don't have to care about it, frankly I wouldn't expect anyone to. I get why it'd be easy to think the Australian national team is a tiny little job, because for anyone not from Australia - it is! But the point is for him at that point that was the be all and end all, in Europe there's always your club vs country debate, and club always wins. But in smaller football nations it's not even close, country is far more important than their local clubs, it's the only time that a football community is really large enough to be properly formed. The point of this, is that for him this was the pinnacle at that time, no Australian had ever managed in Europe - that's a pipe dream! So to walk away from it would be incredibly harmful for him, he couldn't walk away and stroll into a Premier League club, whereas now that he's in the system, if he left/got sacked by us he easily could. So to say he's a yes-man, and that he'll do whatever Levy says is just factually incorrect based on his track record.

As I said you don’t understand Football in Australia. And that’s ok. The game is broke, and getting to the World Cup and getting out of the group stages brings a massive windfall financially for the federation. In both prize money and sponsorships. Throw in the sport fanatical Aussies who think we should actually be winning the thing ( yes, it’s true), and the media who want to keep football downtrodden because they have financially vested interest in Rugby League and AFL being the mainstream sports, the blowtorch on the manager and the pressure and scrutiny is fucking massive. Is it more than managing a would be Top 4 (cough) PL side? Maybe. Is it less? Maybe. Point being it is comparable.
Football in Australia is the largest participation sport among our kids, so massive $$$ is needed to fund that. And to try and translate that popularity into the A League and our National Teams. It’s why Thugby League and Aerial Ping Pong (and their associated media hacks) pile it on.
And as for being a fan boy. Ffs I’m just a 53 year old bloke who loves football and wants to see it excel in Australia. And if Ange being a success in the EPL helps that, well of course I’m interested.
Oh and btw, your comments are naive at best, or just simply uneducated. You choose. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Its not factually incorrect because we're talking money Ange has never been exposed to before. Premier league money is on an insanely different scale.

Millions and millions of pounds if you're sacked. Nobody really walks away from this, I don't care how much of an honourable person they are. He's not had a massively lucrative career and he's getting on. No way he throws it in the bin. You'd be a crazy person to ever do it.

I'm continuing to love the absolute hypocrisy of being called naive by someone who (no matter their age!) is very obviously a fanboy.

You love the guy. You think the best of him. You've followed him here, of course you think he's awesome and honourable and would never do anything wrong.

Ange isn't walking away from Spurs because that would be throwing away millions of pounds. No amount of working for Australia, Celtic or in Japan is getting him near those figures. This is his big career break (the pinnacle of club football is the premier league) and that comes with money he'd never have seen before.

It's the dictionary definition of naive to think that is comparable to being prepared to walk away from managing Australia. Tell me how many top coaches "walk away" from top clubs. It doesn't happen. They all get sacked. And those guys have career earnings in the multi millions already!!!

"Uneducated" "naive" - I'm not the one who thinks some bloke I've never met is the Mother Theresa of the sport.

I note you conveniently don’t discuss similarities in pressure etc. Do I take that as you actually agree with me? 😜

it's tough because Pedro is a good player but im gonna have to agree. Watch him tomorrow close, he absolutely stinks defensively, doesnt stop crosses, let's people go past all too often. compare and contrast to destiny who gets stick but is way superior imo.
He isnt scoring or assisting enough to offset his issues for me

Its actually the reason why our right sided CB gets dragged out of position often. At some times during Fulham, Dragusin was defending near the corner flag as Porro had been beaten.

I'd argue that Sarr or Bissouma ought to be helping him out more, but our system struggles when the full backs are easily beaten in 1 v 1
