I genuinely don’t get the obsession some people have with youth players as the cornerstone of our future and viewing it as such an important element for success, a Harry Kane is the exception, not the rule.
Let’s be honest—the success rate for academy graduates making it in this league is painfully low, people pinning their hopes on that as a viable long-term strategy feels less like forward-thinking and more like indulging in a footballing fairy tale. It’s romantic at best imo.
Over time these players would be good enough if we weren't trying to chase success and competing with fine margins, if you give youngsters enough time to flourish and nurture them then eventually they'll forge out a career - it takes 2 things...time and patience, neither things we have right now.
It seems like this fanbase want it both ways, they want instant success and want to win things but at the same time want youth players who have 0 experience to step in and play matches, it's not realistic.
IMO it comes from clubs like Barca, Dortmund and Ajax who have done it for years building their first team from their academy.
What a lot of us miss from that is these clubs spent decades building a culture at the club of integrating their academy into their first team and as a result have an ingrained knowledge of how to identify players young and then what to develop into them. We aren't going to just start playing 5 Academy kids in the first team the year after deciding it's our plan to do it. It will take decades. We have some really talented kids atm but even if we are talking about the 3-4 most talented ones: Moore, Williams-Barnet, and Lankshear it could be 5 years before we see all 3 in the first team together.
Then there is the difference in physicality of the PL to consider. It isn't the same bringing a 17/18 year old through in the PL compared to Spain or Holland.

I have no doubt that this joke of a season will continue in a similar fashion in 2025. We're done. Teams know exactly how to counter Angeball. All they need is a disciplined approach and take their chances on the counter and set pieces. Of course we have enough quality to win some games as our attack is good and we score many goals. But football is not only about scoring goals. Football is mainly about winning. The die hard fans would rather win in a boring fashion than losing in an entertaining way. Ange was supposed to be a winner but now his only claim to fame is that he plays entertaining football. It's not hard to be entertaining when you don't do things thoroughly and only play on inspiration. We have a strong squad. Extremely strong if you look at the bottom half of the table. Only other team with a strong squad in the 2nd half in Man U. The rest are all teams you would expect in the position they're in.
Some posters use Man U as an example for keeping Ange. They say that Man U is a proof that changing manager doesn't work. but that's not quite correct. Man U also shows that keeping a failing manager is no success. They have actually given their managers a long time. Ten Hag got 2.5 years to change things. Van Gaal was given 2 seasons. Ole was given a lot of time. They have actually given their trainers even more time than Spurs. See how that worked. When it's not working, you're better off changing as soon as possible because time won't solve it.
Whether Amorim will work out for them is not clear. It takes time to rebuild. But if it's equally bad after one year, the manager has not been able to have the effect. Man U are currently ahead of us because next season they will have a new style that has been implemented.
We on the other hand could still start next season with Ange. Better to replace now and get a new manager to prepare us for next season. Because this season is already dead so we need to think about next season already.
Yes, we have the cups but that was not the deal. Still being in 3 cups gives us certain winning chances but we would have winning chances also with another manager. It's not like Ange is the only manager in the world to have won a trophy. In fact, he never won a trophy in a really competitive league. If he would luck a win in a cup it still wouldn't change my opinion. Especially not in the league cup. It has to be the FA cup. All the others are second grade. A few years ago we almost won the biggest prize in club football. We aimed higher than second rate cups. Liverpool will probably play their reserve team in the cup. If we beat their reserves, what is it worth really? It doesn't make us a big club. We won't get respect for having a trophy. Not even Levy cares for the league cup as he sacked Mourinho just before the final. Wanting to keep Ange for the league cup shows how we look at ourselves these days.
Wigan and Portsmouth has won the FA cup fairly recently. Wigan and Portsmouth won the league cup. But they couldn't finish high in the league so they are small clubs right now. It's the league that matters. Don't fall for Ange's bullshit I always win in my second year. It's irrelevant for a club like Spurs.

But again. even with time and patience, the majority of youth players simply don’t make it at this level imo.

I think you can apply that to the owners.
I want experienced players in and the youth to be on loan, honing their craft to see they're up to the task. But we've splashed cash on inexperienced kids so might as well use them because we don't really have options. Not unless we want too see further injuries. We have to rotate.
If the plan wasn’t to develop and use the kids now then we should have bought MORE players in the summer. Not just kids and given them squad numbers and spots in squad lists lol. That suggests using them.

That's not how it works.
Someone can want something but not be prepared to do what it takes to get it. if I wasn't married I'd want to fuck Beyonce but I'm not prepared to do the necessary ground work for it to happen (fly to America, stalk beyonce, kill Jay Z etc).
