It was bad in some quarters. I remember Flav wanted 'Arry gone as soon as he said it and we felt relief when he left in the end. It was mainly saying we were gonna have a title challenge half way through the season, then signing Ryan Nelsen instead of Mario Mandzukic, getting distracted by the England job that never came, taking his eye off the ball in the league and not realising Chelsea could take the CL place.

Our form at the end of that season was poor. I wanted Levy to sell Arry to England because then all parties would have been happy and we could have ended the season stronger. That isn't dismissing the great work he did before the second half of his final season.

Just saying all good things come to an end and we better not rewrite history entirely.
I appreciate the detailed context. I remember some of that, and the flirtation with Mandzukic. What happened with England again? They suddenly dropped their interest of Redknapp due to some shady items in his past or something?

Is there any evidence of this?

I ask cos I see people building a strawman argument against fans who apparently worship ange, or his previous experience. But never once seen anyone on here do that.

I don't give a fuck about the manager by the way, I'm bored of arguing over crumbs. But I keep seeing people have a go (on here) against a mythical set of fans who say ange is God

I think that's really just how it feels lately- most of the diehard Ange in holdouts have all changed their opinions by now.

A few weeks ago though it would have been more true to say that.

Some of us called for Ange out as early as the end of last season though- MemphisWill and myself, and perhaps Shotgunmichaelbrow but I can't recall others off the top of my head. At that point it very much was considered a heretical and blasphemous thing to say.

I don't get it mate. I've not got skin in the game as haven't tied myself to a mast on ange but I don't ever see people worshipping him.

I see a lot of puerile criticism of him. I don't remember seeing people suckikg him off, just people having a go at a seemingly mythical fan who does that.

Anyway whatever, I obviously could be massively wrong which I accept. This forum is nothing like the pubs in Tottenham anyway.

Some posters have been very stubborn Ange in- it's been taken by the Ange-out crowd as ignorant zealousness and so likened to mindless worship. Is that fair? Probably not but you know how it goes.

For me criticizing Ange on footballing aspects is fair game. Criticizing him based on his appearance and other superficial aspects is nothing more than ad hominem bullshit- not even really useful to debate or consider. I agree it's been puerile at times.

Re: the pubs in Tottenham- would you care to share your take on the opinion of Ange there? I presume you feel you've got a good read on how the folks feel there right now?

Yeah of course that's completely fair and tbh we probably agree largely on ange. It's just this forum feels a lot more negative than Tottenham on a match day.

I wouldn't want to try to talk for others ... therr will be plenty of fans who can get to games and disagree with me. But just based on my subjective experience in the beehive, elbow room, blue coats, brickies, and others, the usual vibe I see is support the team, not cunt off the manager

I have seen countless times on this forum Ange apologists using the mythical Ange guaranteed 2nd season trophy as a legitimate reason to stick with him until we are out of all cups at the earliest, which is a belief predicated entirely on his previous experience at other clubs, the fact it is referred to in series can only mean his time in the J-league and Australian league are being included in that.
They may be becoming more and more mythical with each passing week but just pop along to the Everton match thread if we manage to blag a win up there, there will be more than a few preaching patience and trotting out the usual "imagine how good we'll be when we get players back" like we haven't been here a dozen or so times this season and completely failed to put a run of form together throughout regardless of the status of decimation by injury.

I think even with our best 11 available we are just too volatile to achieve anything of note over a whole season. We lose too many games just from giving away the ball under pressure or individual errors combined with high line/all out attack. That's mostly because of Ange's playing style, but it doesn't help to have a lot of unsuited players. Perhaps prime City or Barcelona could pull it off but I think it will never work in an ENIC environment. The players injured today will most likely get injured again in the future so we need a manager able to set up the team to pick up points even in difficult circumstances. Overall it doesn't look good for Ange..

lack of adaptability & game & squad management is his downfall.. if his first XI is never injured - the following players wont get a sniff this season
* bergvall
* gray
* Spence
* austin

Just on these coupla factors lone is reason for sacking.
not suitable.
But i reckon he would suit Real Madrid - they have endless money supply and squad size

Ange made a big mistake by saying the performance wasn’t good enough. He’s been doing this all year and I think it’s going to cost him. Whilst he’s not pointing the finger at any player specifically, the players will be taking offence to this. Kulusevski has come out and said everyone needs to take responsibility from the top to bottom. This sounds like the players feel like they’re getting all the blame and he’s defending them…

Go back to Sir Alex Ferguson, Mourinho at Chelsea, Wenger at Woolwich. They never criticised the performance. In public They always blamed the referee, the ball, the weather, some curse etc but in the dressing room the hairdryer went flying.

The problem is Ange and other managers are to honest. If that was Mourinho or Ferguson, they would have said that the corner that should never have been a corner lost us the game. Also means you get better decisions next time

Mourinho??

I reckon you should quote those posts/posters to see who/what you're talking about...I would after all 😉

If we don't beat Everton then it has to be game over.

Austin?

LOL.

These guys, also, were getting minutes. Bregvall came on in our first game of the season VS Leicester I believe.

Why are people so desperate to just make things up - there is enough to be mad about already

LOL,

Yeah he should have taken the Arteta route and said " we didn't deserve that result ". Seriously ?
The petty shit that some are espousing has gone to new levels.

I can accept that most here want him gone on the basis of results and results only.

However, posts like this reaffirm my belief that some will seek any angle to get rid of our manager, His suit, his voice, his demeanour, his weight, his heritage, his resume, the correct surname, etc etc etc.. Fuck off with this crap.

As long as he is our manager i will support him.

I mean, lose on Saturday and he should probably be shown the door - but without an adequate replacement, it just doesnt feel like a worthwhile endeavour before the cup games...

I dunno.

The fact we are even using the word relegation in this forum tells me the guy needs to go now . Has been backed ? No . Should we be hovering above relegation and getting 5 points from 9 games ? Absolutely not . No one on here can guarantee we get 40 points this season , with the squad we have that is just criminal . The away performances show me we have zero fight and at home more often than not we need to score 3 goals to win a match , on what planet is Ange the right fit for us ???
