i'm not a medic or a spurs insider but i've just never seen a club bring back two injured players like that before and that's probably because they're likely to get re-injured just like they did. they weren't match fit and should've been eased back in separately especially since they play the same position. in my experience that's the conventional wisdom on this.

I said at the time it was obvious he was playing them not fit. It just didn’t make any sense they’d both come back on the same day.

For that to be true it would mean that;

1. The medical team told Ange that the players weren't ready and he ignored them.
2. Romero and VDV both told Ange they still weren't 100% and he also ignored them.

Do you honestly believe that?

These weren't slight knocks that players can play through with an injection, these were both long term significant injuries.

Romero's 2nd injury wasn't even related to the first....

Also makes you wonder if the players are doing their best to take care of themselves.

Easy to point the finger at Ange and the medical teams. But all the stuff that happens on their own could also contribute to health. Gym work, stretching, eating right.

So you are purely speculating.

You are basically saying that Ange ignored the medical team assessment and asked two players to play injured out of desperation and risked them aggravating long term injuries.

It just doesn't wash with me, For starters VDV and Romero would have piped up about that don't you think? Particularly after getting injured again.
It's their careers which are at stake if the manager is indeed forcing them to play injured why haven't they spoken up?

We know Romero isn't afraid to speak up.

People need to be a bit more consistent with their arguments, fans have always believed our medical team aren't up to it and they've been pretty rubbish in the past...the club have twice now conducted investigations into it and sacked a load of staff as a result...so how comes people are choosing to believe that evidence of them being entirely incompetent and put the blame on Ange?

Once again these arguments aren't making sense.

Not to mention that our players who do the most sprints are fine.

Data is everywhere - Romero hardly every sprints and VDV this season hardly did any either.
It only takes one sprint to pull a hammy, it's not a set number.
Compare the number of sprints with players from other teams as well, rather than vs team mates.

It's the pitch at the megadome.

The football pitch slides on and off on a tray.

Look at it this way; If it was suspected that the pitch may be responsible for the quantity of Injuries, to Spurs and away players, would Baldy try to keep it quiet?

It’s not really about Ange overruling anyone, although he did admit to leaving VDV on longer than he was advised and injuring him again. I’m sure both players passed their fitness tests before the game.

It’s about whether it was prudent to start both of them in a massive game after a long period out (both with hamstring injuries). Ange is a reckless manager and he made a reckless decision, Dragusin had been playing alright and he could easily have started just one of them alongside him then brought the other one on. Instead he started both of them despite knowing it was unlikely that they could both complete the 90 minutes.

He was desperate for a win and in that desperation he fucked our entire season. For someone who talks so much about long term decisions vs short term, he really made himself look foolish there.

The argument makes perfect sense. Shit medical team + shit management by Ange = record breaking injury crisis. Double whammy.

You are banging your head against a brick wall. They don’t want logic, they just want to blame Ange for it because we are losing games.

How would the pitch cause hamstring injuries?

Maybe knee injuries I could listen but still bollox. Muscle injuries? No chance

The megadome pitch is pretty unique.

It is the one thing that makes Spurs different from every other Premier League club.

None of them have a pitch like the one at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Sometimes the solution to a puzzle is the most obvious one.
