Here's the thing- at this point, we really might be better off with any cheap, basic defensive caretaker.

All the squad are fine- we'll easily transition into any managers system. Bizarrely enough, we're probably worst set up for Anges tactics than anything else. Without a doubt our defensive roster suggests back 3 more than anything else, and our attack suggests in cutting wing-forwards, or a two-ST setup.

This fear of change as something that will make this season worse seems misplaced. We're doing very poorly already. It's hard to do any worse without getting relegated.
I'd take 4-4-2 with Steve Bruce after the Everton first half.

The problem is the pool of managers willing to work for Daniel Levy and the shackles of ENIC will be extremely small and limited.

This is also why I think Spurs fans will need to accept an underwhelming-seeming pick if they really want someone who is optimal for working with Levy and this club. Any too established of a manager will whine about not getting enough (Conte), one too un-established can underperform with naive tactics (Ange). I'm still all for Iraola, or Silva if Iraola isn't interested.

Silva for me.

Prem experience with nearly 500 games and improves players.

I think honestly Silva is best choice for us too- people always think of his tough time at cursed Everton, but I remember his Watford squad being extremely dangerous and plucky. I like Iraola too, and it seems more of the crowd here are enamored of him. I can't honestly say his record is worse than Silva's so I try defer to the facts where they are available.

It's not just fans though, and that's the problem. There are presenters, pundits, ex players, ex coaches, current coaches, social media "personalities" etc absolutely everywhere that pump out this narrative non-stop.

Harry Redknapp a few weeks ago said give him this AND next season.
Glen Hoddle is arguing now that linesmen and VAR are to blame for our hamstring issues. Not suicideball.
There's so many of them that are constantly saying the age old cliche "you have to give him time"
havent heard that from hoddle. he obviously called the chelsea game out for what it was at the time. he might just be saying the VAR doesnt help, i dont think he rates this clown.

redknapp probably wants that to happen to make it look like his body of work is a lot better than it was lol.

na i know what you mean, a lot of them i think just say what they think the public want to hear, they are yes men themselves a lot of them. thats why i liked souness as he wouldnt care less who got offended. carragher calls this shit out for what it is, im starting to like him, prob the best pundit now souness has retired.

Pragmatism is the key to being any form of success under the restrictions put in place by Levy/Lewis.

Not necessarily in the on field sense, playing defence first (although some defensive structure would be nice) and all that. But in working with what you have and making the sum total better.

Early Poch was great at this and could develop players. Him wanting more ready made players was a factor in things falling apart.

Not saying that we shouldn't sign some experienced ready made players. But a good manager here needs to be able to develop the young potential that is brought in on the cheap.
