As I've aged, I've realised that it's normally a sign of stupidity, or perhap lack of wisdom is a better way to express it. The wisest people seem to be on another intellectual level, they can normally accept (albeit at times reluctantly and often feeling baffled) that others hold different opinions to them, that those opinions are valid in those other people's thinking, and that those people are entitled to have those opinions. As for those who can't do that, well I don't know whether it's stupidity, narcissism, too much time in echo chambers, or perhaps just not having the resilience to cope with not getting what they want, but the number of people in the world who are capable of accepting opinions of others that differ from their own definitely seems to be shrinking, not increasing.
I try - there are plenty of people on here whose views I find ridiculous, and some just plain trolling, and I call them out from time to time, but I'd never try to 'hound them out' of the fanbase, they are entitled to have and express their opinions the way we all should be.
The black and white thing is frustrating too - the amount of hyperbole on this forum is about as insane as the lack of nuance, and understanding thereof. That frustrates me because often people probably do have valid things to say, but those things get lost in hyperbolic nonsense.
