Also the word is that a fair few think Levy HAS backed the coach reasonably and money was badly spent.
This is the truth more or less as I see it.

We clearly are willing to spend money now that we have the stadium. And he as got what, 300-400 mil in total backing or such?
We have just had some bad luck with squad building and how we spend it.

We are probably never going to spend 200 mil in one window, but we are clearly willing to invest money in the squad consistently now.

But I guess its a case of did he get the backing and players he actually wanted? It was said that the only player get requested was Gallagher, but apparently his wages were too expensive and we gave him Gray. Now Gray is a clearly a huge talent but we didn't give him the tools to do what we wanted in terms of ready made starters.

Apparently he wanted a prem proven good to go winger now, we gave him odobert, because netos wages were too high. He wanted more creativity in the central areas/wide playmaking, he wanted eze he got bergvall, again a huge talent but not a ready made good to go player.

It depends how you look at backing. If you look at purely money he has.

We have spent low risk money on fucking children and made our wage bill significantly smaller.

Stop it.

I agree- and it's hard to say- we just won't know that information unless Levy or Kane or Poch come out and say it. I would wager there is a sizable legal penalty hanging over all their heads forever over disclosing that information publicly, at least that's how I would expect someone like Levy to operate.

In the end I think Kane slightly hurt his chance of winning silverware with us by these choices, but also padded up his stats too. It's interesting to think about what might have happened had he been a bit more deferential towards the team, and accepted/requested benching and coming on as a late sub instead in that CL final. Also of course in other moments throughout those seasons.

Obviously still a great player and legend but those are the little what-if's that maybe keep you from greater success. I obviously am rooting for him to win a CL with Bayern because he deserves one. I think they have a very good chance this season. Won't be easy but it's doable.

I doubt Kane had a very solid footing on the contract in terms of privacy etc.
Bare in mind who his agent was

Southgate? Allegri? If that is the shortlist we in for a world of hurt. Great that Iraola is on there but it's for me to see us getting him- especially if he gets CL with them.

Terzic I feel very meh about. The Alonso link I simply find hard to believe.

Not great news overall. Southgate or Allegri would be awful, morale killing for us.
Bullshit.

You'd have to have morale for it to be killed...

:ange-bored:

Yep this is what I was told we have contacted:two coaches already, one out of work one in work. So it's one of :Terzic, Southgate, Allegri and it's obviously Iraola. The good news is I was told all of the parties approached were interested and none turned it down out right.

Subsequently I was told Alonso has also sounded US out about him potentially wanting to be considered. It's funny the people thinking we couldn't get a coach of quality are way off. Also the word is that a fair few think Levy HAS backed the coach reasonably and money was badly spent.

Clarification the stuff in Italics came from a bloke I met who is connected to senior board members the second was just told to me by a football writer for a decent print/ media site.

We could get a decent coach, I have little doubt.
It's whether Daniel Greedy will do what it takes, which is usually compensation, wages and a solid promise of funds to spend how that coach wants.

“Is it a case of there being no more excuses now?”

Vicario : “Around this football club we spoke very, very, very few times about injuries. We didn’t make excuses but the fact is we’ve been through three very, very tough months. Also the manager never complained about that. The players talked and we say this among each other, that we never thought about injuries, crisis, injury problems.”

Good morning. Have mainly been reading on Twitter and SC (and ocassionally been posting there under a different name) and holy shit a lot of people are deluded regarding Ange. Last few days there have genuinely been people on SC arguing about "this season not being so terrible". Like, I respect other people's opinions but Christ almighty. Thought I would give this site a chance and it's refreshing to see that you generelly are able to see it as it is, that Ange is a truly awful manager.
Welcome to the forum Erni

And congrats for finally escaping the cess pit otherwise known as SC

Think the majority on here have finally accepted that Ange is clueless , keep on your toes though , there is still the odd soul lurking that can't escape the cult of Ange

I can't stand seeing this narrative about Spurs having spent big money too - ITS THE FUCKING WAGE BILL where the real money is!
Kids with sell on value are exactly the thing a top team doesn't do as their top priority.
The wool has been thoroughly pulled over a lot of fans eyes, its baffling.

Money spent still has to count as well. Its the combination of both. Weve spent more and pay higher wages than forest, bmouth, fulham etc. So we should at least be ahead of those

Yeah, and wage bill alone is a questionable metric. How well does Man U do? They must have one of the highest wage bills and have had for many years.

And you could pay the players a million pounds a week, but with Ange's system they would still get injured and we'd still get killed on counters by opposition who knows exactly how to play against Ange's amateur tactics.

Vicario in his press conference with Ange said that we have had injuries for 3 months and “the manager has never complained about that.”

I actually fucking laughed out loud.

Vicario probably doesn't watch Ange's press conferences.

He's probably talking about internal conversations. Tbh the communication we get from the club is very likely a completely different world to internal communication inside the club.

Alonso wants to come to Spurs?

If that were true it would be the shortest shortlist ever.
