Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

but he is the manager and he was happy with the summer and January windows. if the manager is saying "I'm happy" why would the board spend more money when they've already been one of the highest net spenders?

Our fanbase, on the whole, were also happy. Look at the ratings the majority gave when rating the window after the summer.
Ange will probably never get another chance in the Premier League.

Levy gave him a chance.

Why would Ange not be loyal to Levy?

This is all 100% on Levy and he does not give a fuck.

If Levy gave a fuck he would have sacked Ange, payed him off and brought in an interim or permanent manager.

The supporters are now expected to go through the motions and get behind the team despite having no belief or confidence in a manager who has so far lost 15 league games.

THFC is going nowhere under ENiC and Levy.

Something drastic needs to happen soon.

Well that's great, if we could play Everton every 4th game we'd finish with 27 points.

Oh dear, we've barely got more than that now...
Well, quite. Though with this method you'd get 12 points per 4 games, it's a lot fairer for us.

Take this classic Ange run in December- January. It may look like 2 defeats and a draw, but is in fact a 7-5 (AET) aggregate victory and also moral victory it's fair to say. 5 coached wins too.

Forest 1-0 Spurs
Spurs 2-2 Wolves
Spurs 1-2 Newcastle
Spurs 1-0 Liverpool
Tamworth 0-3 Spurs

You know that those subtle digs at Levy will eventually culminate in a Conte-esque exit rant at some point. The question is when.

Regardless, it'll be his last moment of fame before he fades into obscurity. It'll even get some people here to rewrite history to portray him as some kind of a martyr that died for Levy's sins. Can't wait.

Bit late to be on about it now though. Does feel like he's clutching at any straw he can find
Do you recall him punting the crap to Gold about how impressed he was with the kids in training we didn't need any more additions. Lol now the fraud wants to hide behind "no one told me there were extra games and by the way how we played did cause us problems". He can fuck right off and keep going.

You have to think like a degenerate gambler to be Ange in.

"Well yes I have a terrible record and I've lost my savings, but look at all these occasions where I *almost* won. Just another card here or there and things look quite different. And these others, those were just due to spectacularly bad luck, you can't do anything about those. If you look only at the examples I carefully select then things aren't too bad really, and the bad luck has to turn around eventually."

ok well then what do you expect the board to do then? get more players in when the manager is saying the squad is fine?? literally no board would hear their manager state they are perfectly happy with the squad and then proceed to sign more players, it just wouldn't happen.

This board have absolutely screwed managers over previously. Poch was absolutely shafted, Mourinho screwed, Conte screwed, Redknapp screwed but on this occasion I don't get what they're expected to do?

What do we actually expect the board to do, Christ? How long do you have?

If we actually think that the board chose to listen to the manager for the first time ever and said 'you know what, we're gonna take what this manager says as gospel' we need to stop taking these naive pills and even if they did actually think that the manager was perfectly happy with the squad then I question the kind of football operation we are running at this club, I mean we all do anyway so I'm not sure why suddenly the need to take pressure off the board and put it all on the manager all of a sudden.

Levy won't sack Ange because if we went out of Europa it would threaten Levy's own position.

Think about this as Levy, with game theory:
  • If you retain Ange and he wins Europa, you get CL money next year, you glorify yourself for hiring this genius who finally brought us a trophy, your position is stronger than ever.
  • If you retain Ange and he fails to win Europa, you just sack him and he takes most of the blame. Your position is still secure.
  • If you sack Ange and then we fail to win Europa, you get all the blame. You made the key decision. We had a chance at a trophy and you botched it as with Mourinho. This threatens your position, coming at a time when your position is weaker than it has ever been.
  • If you sack Ange and the interim manager somehow wins Europa, credit mostly goes to the interim and you are criticized for allowing Ange to sink our league season when replacing him showed immediate improvement in results and brought a trophy.
So if you're Levy, worried about your own position and your future earnings, there's no question.

Some really basic stuff could have been done right off the bat to prevent all this- like rotating fbs and cbs more, using reggie AT ALL, despite not wanting to ( we badly needed the depth he could have provided). Rotating Son more capably, using Lankshear more.

Shocking how badly he underestimated the wear and tear of needing to play league and cup football. A joke honestly.

He's right when he says that we basically fucked the recruitment up, again you may want him gone but we clearly didn't do enough in the Summer.

That still doesn't excuse his own performance throughout the season though.

He refused to play Spence, Reggie and Lankshear. Wouldn’t play Dragusin at first either.

There were enough pieces around to do all that was required but somehow none of those boobs could figure it all out.

Our fan base are nice people and our friends, but people who called for Ange out before last summer were ridiculed. And yet it has turned out as predicted.

Safe to say our average fan has not shown great accuracy in predicting successes. They may struggle to see all the signs of club health or not.

I'm not talking about these players, I'm talking about our recruitment,

We didn't buy a backp CB to push our injury prone CB's
We didn't but a backup LB
We didn't buy a competent/combative 6
We didn't buy any ready made wingers
Brought in a load of kids

This is after an poor injury record after our first season where we played 40 matches in all comps, a season with Euro competition what did we actually expect to happen?

We all got it wrong, recruitment, the manager, the fans.

no I'm not an "all of a sudden" kind of guy (you have perfected that art tbf).

I said at the time I think we needed players like Gallagher and Eze but when the manager made it clear he was pushing to go down the youth route (he even specifically spoke about why he wanted to do this as well) then I gave the window a 7 (I think) based on what the manager wants. I said the board had to back exactly what the manager wanted and on this occasion they did (even to go as far as spending 65m on a 27 year old...something they would never have done previously). I said personally I wouldn't have signed Gray if it meant we wouldn't bring in a more experienced midfielder and I would have preferred a proven player like Eze over Odobert (but prefably both).

I don't deviate and move goalposts to suit agendas. I think Levy on the whole has performed poorly but if I was judging in solely on Anges stint I'd say he has definitely backed the manager.

Let me ask you this, do you think the board could have done much more in the Summer window to improve the team or were you definately satisfied with the recruitment?

In his statement, ange has tried to shift the blame onto the support base by claiming, they have lost belief.
Yes we have ange, we have lost faith in you and your shit tactical set up.
It’s been coming apart since last seasons farce of a game against Chelsea, it's all pretty much gone downhill from there apart from the odd good result.
He has been undone by most of the shit teams in the league, both him and levy are clinging to the hope that, the club will win the Europa which they won't.
He is finished at spurs, sooner it's made official the better.

You're not understanding what I've said.

I was not completley satisfied with the window. I wanted us to get experienced players over youth (i was fine with the Bergvall youth signing and thought we shouldn't spend 35m on Gray if it meant we don't bring in a more experienced central midfielder). I also thought we should go for Eze over the Young wide players we were linked with (doue being the main as Odobert wasn't even linked).

It doesn't matter what I wanted though. Above everything i stated that even though I thought the manager was absolutely useless it was absolutely vital they back him with what he genuinely wanted and I'm certain he was happy with the window.
