Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Whoever does replace Ange is going to have a hell of a job undoing the damage he's already caused in terms of footballing systems and poorly coached players. More so if we leave it until the end of the season, we all know how Levy operates, there's no way in hell that he's already got a replacement waiting in the wings. It'll be a mad last minute scramble so that the new manager doesn't get any sort of pre season with the players and for 2/3rds of next season it'll just be used to undo the rot that the incompetent moron has instilled in the already average squad.
I'm gonna take a page out of Richard Arlison Richard Arlison 's book and say that a manager who knows what he's doing at the top level would get that same squad to perform much better. Sure, they still wouldn't be good enough to make the top 4 or win a trophy, cause end of the day a turd is a turd...but yeah they defo wouldn't be 17th with 21 or 22 losses comes end of May.

But in the end...til everything changes, nothing changes. Said it before and I'll say it again, you could put Pep, Ancelotti, Klopp, Enrique or Inzaghi in charge...and sign 2 or 3 very good players...and still we'd eventually combust. Cause our issues go deeper than a crap manager and a very average squad.

It's the whole culture of the club, its core purpose...and that's all to do with ENIC & Levy. They're the ones who have zero friggin ambition for the football club...or who want to achieve success without doing what's required or go about it the cheapest way possible. They're the ones who give players watches for making - not winning - the CL final. They're the ones who sack one of the best managers ever 4 days before a domestic cup final...but keep the worst manager in our entire history before an EL quarter. They're the ones who have literally wasted 800 mil on transfers (go listen to Adam Osper breaking it down on LWOS with Kieran Maguire & Lilywhite John). They're the ones who built a fancy new stadium for much more than it should've cost...then fucked the Naming rights thingy...oh and also forgot to have statues & other stuff like that to celebrate our great club's history and legend...better to keep that money for the cheese room and go-kart track. The list goes on and on and on.

The difference between your posts now and a few months back is unreal. It’s like night and day tbh and I remember for long periods you talking about how sacking Ange would lead to Ryan Mason and how awful that would be, now it would be beautiful and great for fans?

That Ange effect is strong eh! Still, good to see you on the sensible side of things now.
To be honest, I give Don Pedro Don Pedro his dues. Took his bloody time but he's woken up and now sees things for what they are...and man he ain't shy of calling shit out.

Plenty nuggets like that Harry7 we all despise still refuse to acknowledge they were shit wrong. I mean, it's beyond belief. I have more respect for flat-earthers than I do for them absolute helmets.

Our cultural issues are THE problem.

The culture at the club is the reason good managers look inept and talented players end up inconsistent and soft.

Until the culture from the top is fixed, we are going to struggle.

Agree.

We need someone who is adaptable and flexible with their tactics. That doesn’t mean being either overly attacking or defensive, just being balanced.

Brighton game is a good example, after being 2-0 up we needed to steady the ship, because the Brighton comeback was inevitable.
I genuinely for these reasons think I want Frank or Glasner. Frank play possession football in the Championship but switched to counter to stabilise Brentford as an EPL side. He is savvy, where as the absolutist like Mckenna take their teams straight back down. He's got Mbeumo and Wissa and Tony and Watkins to elite and works on a budget. I think I'd take them both over Iraola. Even though I think he'll get the job.

Imagine winning the ropey league without winning any of the 5 games from the 1/4 final onwards :roflmao:

Then imagine still trying to defend Angeball as exciting
Sounds like a challenge for @profspurs@bsky

You're right, but Matt is right that the goal numbers are misleading and this is why the league position in the end says who you are.

That goal total is heavily weighted toward just a few days of the year and seasoned with consolation goals, when the reality is we present almost no attacking threat against decent teams and in tight games.

Being still in the blocks at 90' against Tamworth is all that need be said
To date we've scored 60 league goals.

Of that total, 33...so over 50%...were scored vs Southampton (8), Leicester (2), Ipswich (5), Wolves (4), West Ham (4...in one game), Man United (4) and Everton (6).

If those teams below the 40pt mark weren't so dreadful defensively, we would be fighting til the very last matchday to avoid relegation.

And that idea that we're a superb attacking force able to score multiple goals past any team is beyond ridiculous.

Yippee-friggin-yahoo we scored 3 vs Liverpool (in one game) and 4 x vs City. We also scored 1 vs Woolwich, 0 vs Forest (still gotta play them once), 2 vs Newcastle and 3 vs Chelsea. So basically 13 goals vs top 6 sides (that's 21% of our total)...or 17 goals (28%) vs Top 7 if you include Villa knowing we still gotta play them at theirs. Let's leave aside the fact our goals vs LFC and Chelsea were right consolation prizes...and that we smashed 4 past City & Villa when they were atrociously out of form.

Same.

I spent yesterday watching some videos of YouTube of Frank, and I’m really sold on him now.

He said the first thing that attracted him to Brentford was the fact that they played aggressive attacking possession based football (sound familiar?) and he liked that there was a philosophy there and that they were building a project.

He had to abandon that way of playing after coming up to the PL and play pragmatic because with their budget, it was the only way they were going to survive.

But he is absolutely adaptable and can manage a game perfectly. He’s not the boring manager everyone makes him out to be if you do a bit of research on him

not really pragmatic, defensively Brentford have been pretty poor

Don't even need 4 wins.

Draw at Frankfurt...win on pens.

Bodo/Lazio: Draw away, draw at home...win on pens. Or draw away, win at home (or other way round). Or defeat away, bigger win at home (or other way round). Fuck me, even if we lose the first leg then win the 2nd and it's all square on agg...you can win on pens.

Win the final...or draw and bag it on pens.

You can literally lift the trophy without needing to win another game (in 90+ET), just draws and pen shootouts. Or even just with one win in the semis or final. Highly unlikely, yes, but shows it doesn't need to be 4 straight wins, something that for the life of me I cannot see the fat bastard and that shite squad of sissies achieving. When did they last win 4 (big) games in a row?

But even draws and pen shootouts, I can't see the Blob manage that. He's that ridiculously incompetent.
I get your point, but relying on us winning three consecutive penalty shootouts is a very long shot indeed.

I’m listening to this now.

I’m angry.

I’ve just passed the what we paid Vertonghen part. It made me very unhappy; that and listening to a litany of total football mismanagement.

People who believe the earth is flat.
People who believe in God and the bible is spitting facts.
People who believe in the dinosaurs.
People who believe Tupac is alive
People who believe in Bigfoot.
People who believe Ange Postecoglou will win us a trophy this year.
People who believe Trump is a Russian spy.
People who believe in aliens doing Anal probes all the time.

Which of those people are actually the craziest??

Tbh I can’t really see the point of a caretaker for a handful of dead rubber games. Let him finish the season and then move on.

What? Why?

He hates the fans. Why would you be ok to do this to our fans?

I am (honestly) sorry, if it comes off too strong against your point (I'm actually ok with differing views), but why would you want actual harm to the club you support?

I can give a very tangible and real life experience.
I'm currently finishing higher intensity working period and there will be 1,5 weeks of vacation coming together with some overtime bonus (to be topped off with increased base salary stating from April too). So I have some time and money on my hands now.
I like London in springtime, but... I also live 2000+ km from London.

So to me here lies the question - when we sack that miserable piece of shit, I would start checking if I could arrange quick trip to our beloved stadium. But with this braindead imbecile on the touchline - not a chance. Why would I go there to see unmotivated and uncordinated side getting almost certainly beaten. He does not even play the youngsters, despite the results in league not deciding much. Wolves game was first across how freaking many when Gray got a chance (of being played out of position). Where was Moore? Where has Scarlett been? Why are none of the EL game scorers never on the bench?!?! It is shit football, shit spirits and youth get no chance.

Why not put on someone on the interim to actually open the doors and windows and let the all the smell out before summer vacation!?!?

Let's not forget that we owe 441 mil in previous transfers and that a big chunk of that is due this summer and in January...that'll defo impact the budget for new incomings.

Levy wants that debt cleared asap - so revenue can be put towards priorities (not football) - and obviously we're still paying for the stadium.

But hey, look at the positives, chaps & gals...we can count Porro, Kulu, Bentancur, Romero & co as 2025 transfers.
All that's left for you to be fully r/coys is to say something like, "not having players injured will be like several massive transfers!" :bissoumateeth:
