Fuck me, for once we are almost in agreement over something. We didn't get 5th last season because of a fluke. We did very well to deal with the loss of Kane, and then suffered injuries to key players. We had to play Royal/Davies at CB FFS, and had no fit striker for much of the season.
The club keeps leaving the squad woefully short of experienced players. Holjberg was an excellent experienced player to bring on late in games to organise the team - and for whatever reason he left for nothing, to be replaced by 2 X 18 years with zero experience at this level.
I don't disagree that this season has been a major fuck up across the board. Recruitment, coaching, medical, players, but the blaim doesn't lay with a single person - it's a combination of all of those things.
Can the existing staff learn from this and improve? Or do we need to throw everything away and start again? Changing 1 part of the jigsaw achieves nothing new.
Look at my posts, I'm one of the most vocal when it comes to pointing the finger at the owner, chairman and that board for their sheer incompetence, how they've let us down for decades. I'm absolutely not saying Ange is the sole culprit, or even the main one. I'm always saying that til everything changes, nothing changes.
BUT...keep those fuckwits in place and give that same sorta squad to a proper manager and he'd get (much) better results for sure...Poch mean anything to you? Whereas you keep Ange and change the directors & even squad, yeah results may be better but it's really not guaranteed...a shit manager will still be a shit manager, just with better resources at his disposal. Why'd you think Newcastle binned Brucie to get Eddie Howe instead, for instance? Julen Lopetegui was shit at super rich Real, he was equally shit at Wolves or Caravan FC.
You think Ange is that crazy good manager who's just been terribly unlucky with injuries, and who could win us the league if key players could stay fit. You also claim he could easily take over from Pep at City. Which is utter madness and one of the most outrageous takes I've heard in years. The man is horribly out of his depth in the PL, he should never ever have been anywhere near the Spurs job. That famous 10-game spell is what got us 5th last year, but once the novelty effect wore off and he got found out, we started losing weekly and it'd have been the same with half the injuries. On top of that, he's a horrible person...rude, obnoxious, arrogant, childish, always finding excuses - no matter how ridiculous or contradictory - for his shortcomings.
At this stage, I really cannot understand how any Spurs fan can still have his back.
