Think he's just saying that he wants to stay but it's out of his control.

Anyway did you end up watching the match or did you skip it like you said you would?

I watched bits of it but not all of it, and I went for a shower at 90 minutes and came out just before the ref blew the whistle. Then ran around my house naked. Couldn't deal with it if we conceded in injury time.

I rewatched the whole pre-match and game afterwards until the early hours of the morning. Even though I knew we'd won I was still nervous rewatching it haha.

It's hard to explain but the pressure was so immense that we won on Wednesday. Now that we've done it, I will actually be more relaxed watching future finals, because we've got that monkey off our backs.

I hope there’s a lot of critical, objective thinking when the actual decision is made.

On this board there’s no grey area, there’s people playing down the achievement of finally winning a trophy after 17 long years, whilst pointing out that it doesn’t change the problem at a club which has lost 21 games in the league this season.

Because we won on Wednesday there’s also people running around now basically claiming that anyone who said Ange wasn’t good enough overall are now all sorts of names because him winning that same trophy seems to render everything else absolutely irrelevant.

Two things can be right, there is some genuine decision making to be done because you have to balance the idea of us winning something against long term form. However whole swathes of this forum seem to be more interested in mud slinging because on a given day their view seems to be slightly more correct than the other. It’s just mental to watch, genuinely think both sides have numerous posters who are more interested in being ‘correct’ and calling other posters names than they are actually bothered about the long term future of the club, and that’s before you even get to those who love nothing more than to log on, flip flop between the two and call both sides names depending on which way the wind is blowing that day. Mental.

The matters in his favour are:
  • Fought strongly on four fronts
21 league defeats.

It is kind of normal to see teams have an awful league campaign when doing well in the Europa
Atalanta won it last year...also finished 4th in Serie A and made the final of the Coppa Italia. The team they beat, Bayer Leverkusen, won the Bundesliga undefeated and German Cup. Villarreal finished 7th in La Liga the year they won it, Sevilla 4th the year before that, Chelsea 3rd in the PL in 2019, Atletico second in 2018...

Maybe, just maybe cause their managers & players didn't openly sacrifice the league to win the EL (and save their rep).
  • Didn't throw anyone else under the bus when things went badly
Ask Timo. Or refs/VAR.

Even the football gods.

  • Is now on paper by far our most successful manager for 40 years (measuring successes and scales in terms of competitions won and rep of competition)
I always win second rate things in my second year.

Funny how I've heard so many fans say this, my shirt came off and I ended face planting on my kitchen floor :D

Totally inept manager only being able to win against inferior competition.

Celtic against poor scottish sides.

A rich PL club against poorer European sides.

Oh, so impressive.

Against similar teams. Lost 21 out of 37. Over 50% loss ratio. Laughable. An inferior coach that will go down as one of the worst in PL history.

Read the room mate. I don't disagree with some of the things you say but right now I think people just want to enjoy the feel good atmosphere around the club. And rightly so. It's been a long wait.

Have a heart mate. These clowns have felt like they were winning the whole season and felt like they were finally right about something.

They were basking in it, calling some of us all kinds of names… only to have it ripped away from them in one night. It will take them some time to adjust.

Still at it?

Keep fighting your fight.whoever you are fighting it for, I hope they are grateful because your dedication is admirable

Or to the 225,000 people who were out for the parade yesterday.

The internet though. It's the place for a weird flex.

It’s just not reflecting real life. I would say most people are conflicted who I have spoken to. It is very complicated. If I was a betting man I think he stays and then is sacked in November when we are still shit. Just because I can’t see levy letting him go now and risking the next bloke being shit. It’s much easier for him to wait and sack him then when will inevitably be mid table or worst

I don't understand, why would I answer that specific question when I'm not even arguing that point? Are you actually reading my posts?

It's obvious CL is more prestigious than EL but WINNING a trophy is seen as a success and trumps all besides all that this isn't my point - you said that Woolwich were a European force, that's what I'm arguing against.

The stupid thing is that this debate kicked off when you said it was much more of an achievement getting to the CL final then it is winning the EL, then proceeded to tie yourself in knots claiming that Woolwich have achieved more than us this season which is downright bullshit and uber weird BTW for someone so desperate to paint such a narrative for us and our rivals, weird.
He’s right- and you’re again reaching, twisting yourself in logical knots in an attempt to save face in a chat room. It’s very ironic that you are guilty of nearly every rhetorical sin you accuse others of.

It is not a crime to try and keep things in perspective. We would have gotten absolutely thrashed in CL this year. We got absolutely thrashed in the league this year. We got squarely beaten in the domestic cups. We were not competitive in domestic cups or the league. The EL was massively easier a comp than any of our domestics or CL.

What exactly is difficult to understand about that?

Fair enough, I really don't want to take the joy away from anyone. But I also feel I'm not the only one feeling this way.
It's great that we won, but some are trying to make this win about them being right about Ange, while in reality, he has an unacceptable loss %. I'll not accept their narrative. However, it's beautiful to have won something after being so close so many times. Especially as so many so called experts want to shit on our club, saying that we're serial losers who will never win anything.

What are you talking about, do you even know that the debate is?
