My heart is speaking to me yet again...

"Oy,Tart,"
it says, "Levy has let things ride for a few days after winning the EL, to show a bit of respect to Ange. After all, he won the trophy. Let him have his bit of Glory for that achievement. But now, in the cold light of day, with an eye to the future, the Club needs to be back in the top four again. Unfortunately this means that we must part ways with Ange and thank him for getting the monkey off our backs."

Please God, heart, I hope you're right.

My rationale is simple.

This is the guy that got the monkey off our back and won us a trophy, he’s earned his shot. The pressure for him to play strong teams in the cups isn’t as high. He got 5th in his first season, with the squad behind him, there’s every chance he gets them back to that kind of form. Especially now the medical department and support staff around him is stabilized now.

The players love him and believe him when he says “do this and you’ll win” because he’s proved it to them. I don’t want to lose guys like Romero and watch this club go cheap and shitter with his replacement. We’ve always needed winners at this club. Let’s keep the one we have now.

He’s very fucking handy when it comes to selling the club for recruitment. It was his phone call that sold this club to Van de Ven…. Imagine we are going after an Eze or Xavi Simons. Several times Ange calls persuaded players to come here instead of Frank and Brentford. Bergvall would probably be a Brentford player if we had Frank and they had Ange.
Do this and you’ll win. Did he say that before league games , if so they didn’t take much notice.

Gut feeling hes gone. Would have been classless by club sacking him straight after europa league win then just before Ange goes on holiday. I reckon hes gone by next week. That everton away game earlier in season clinched it for me. That was worse than pub football. Hearing a lot of noise about Frank. He will make us hard to beat, dubious about his style though. Poch and tuchel will be waiting next year. Tbh i couldnt give a shit if romero leaves if Ange is sacked. Im a lifetime supporter. Players come and go.
How can we miss Romero when he’s never here. Average 20 games per season over 4 seasons, Workd cup next summer…that’s his priority.

After producing our worst league finish in 48 years and our worst points total in 90 years they have some brass neck making any demands. They have it easy, never criticised no consequences to losing, none of those drills that the nasty man Conte made them do or the torture training from Poch. If they love him so much they should have shown it in the league in the last 18 months.
Exactly.

Spurs should appoint a serious manager, and then when they come back from holidays and see hopefully an improved side and CL football waiting, they’ll get to training.

These players are professionals and can disagree but will carry on. This is fact of life in football. Anyone who puts down his tools is only hurting himself and his career.

If someone forces a move, fine. Change of management always results in some coming and going. At least in the case of Romero we’d be selling high. But I believe everyone will be making happy noises again by the time the season begins.

And if it is Frank that gets the job I honestly don't think that he will have a super hard time getting the majority of the players on side. One of Ange's big strengths has apparently been getting the players to like him, and that is also a strength of Frank's. He's beloved at Brentford.

He wouldn’t be my first choice but he’d certainly be an improvement so I would be cautiously optimistic about next season.

Especially compared to the prospect of keeping Ange and sacking him in October, which we all know is what would have happened.

Would you have rather finshed 5th and no trophy or 17th and a europa league. He said he would deliver a trophy and did.
And what he gets for that is a lot of gratitude and a place in our history (as well as all the money).

But the managers job is not a reward or a present that gets given out because someone deserves it. It should belong to the individual who the club believe is the best available person to develop the squad going forward. We know thats not Ange Postecoglou in the clubs eyes, because if that 90 minutes of football fell the other way, he'd have been sacked before the plane landed back home.

"Right Thomas welcome to the club, your first job is to stop that PSG super team with Doue and Krava, don't worry Bren scored 21 goals last season and we now have European experience so should be easy, off you pop"

Very true; but it takes time for even the most charismatic of managers to build up that level of love . AP , despite his many other apparent failings seems to have that “ in the bank “ . If only he could get someone alongside him to help him with the more “ technical “ stuff required to win games in the EPL and CL . There must be someone out there who could contribute that requirement.

It actually is as simple as that. He delivered a result. A result that most of us were extremely happy to take at the seasons start. It’s a no brainer.

Er no it isn't a no brainer. If it was there wouldn't be so much division amongst the fans ffs lol.

It's a difficult decision but we should we let him go, the league form is far too concerning.

Winning the league is the goal. A team in 5th with a legitimate manager that is playing CL football could attract players with similarly lofty aspirations, and could grow one more step into those aspirations. A team in 17th is in more danger of going down than daring and doing anything great.

One of the top ten most valuable clubs in the world should be aiming at the biggest honors which those other nine are winning, not what the Spam are aiming at, just staying up and maybe grabbing something silver once in a blue moon. Our aspirations are not to win second tier honors just to stop banter from rival fans. A season that gets us closer to the former, of being the best, is a better one.
