It does feel like its a 50/50 between keeping Ange and hiring Frank at this stage. Sounds like frank has beaten off all the other competition.

Sounds like the board have already interviewed Frank and want to give him the job. Paratici is definitely in the Frank camp anyway! While the players are very much behind Ange and probably pushing back against the board and club. We are all assuming Levy gets the final say but its hard to know if its all being left with him either. This new CEO might have a say in it too. Its rare that you get such a huge split between all the players and all the board members. Someone needs to make the decision and a lot of people won't be happy with the outcome either way.
Here's a question worth asking ourselves.

Would Gooners and Chavs fans, our two biggest rivals, be happy if we kept Postecoglou?
They'd probably be having a party.

Would they be happy if we hired Thomas Frank?
They'd probably be having a party.

:mourweird:

You can also think we was no where near good enough in the league and that is down to Ange, Injuries or not and also give him some credit for the Final, even more so when we won it without Maddison, Kulu and Bergvail.

Anyway I feel this thread is just going round in circles, if he stays I'll accept it but realistically I don't think he would make Christmas, if he goes I just hope its not someone like Frank as I would just be a bit underwhelmed any way regardless of who is in charge next season, the squad is not good enough so with the transfer window open we need to be making some moves ASAP.

I have.

Why are you so wilfully oblivious? Man City will be sacking Pep any day now in order to make room for him!
Waiting for the compo

I wouldn't put it past Brentford going with Ange if we get Frank.
That would be fucking disastrous for them, go from a Manager that improves players and gets more than the sum of the parts from his squad via attention to detail and being tactically drilled, to one that cripples them and gets less than the sum of the parts via vibes and no coaching at all?

I'd put money on relegation for them if this happened, they'd probably finish 20th on -ve points if they had a run in the domestics!

The other possibility is that he's not leaving and they feel no need to state that he's not until he is. He still does have 2 years to run on his contract.
Yeah but circumstances are different here. One of the biggest clubs in the country has just lost more league games than they have for like a hundred years and finished 4th from bottom.

There's bound to be speculation burning across the whole media and the fanbase regarding his position, and understandably so, and not clarifying it one way or another just feeds the flames and destabilises the club.

If he's staying, at least have the fucking balls to tell us so we can move forward as a club and start preparing for a massive campaign that starts in just a couple of months.

Do people not think Poch has lost some of his aura since he was last here?

He left after an awful run of form. Hasn't really done a lot since.

Yet some can't wait to get him back.

If we have to rule with our heads and not our hearts for Ange, surely it's the same for Poch?

Nothing new in here really, sort of confirms what we suspect. The journo James Olly says the senior figures he's spoken too cant look past 22 defeats. Basically thinks we're trying to get a replacement signed and sealed first but until thats done he's here, so i guess if we mess up he may end up staying by default.

Xavi is right there, doing nothing but eating cornflakes and playing pokemon. He said he's ready for a 4 year project in the prem.
we let nagelsman and Enrique slip though our fingers pissing about last time too, both who were also free and ready

The delay in decision making is getting ridiculous now. Its 2 weeks since EL final, we still not sure what we want to do.
All the while, other clubs are implementing their transfer plans.

I didn't call anyone a mug or state that we ought not bother winning it, it's just a simple fact that it's the number two European competition. We won it, I'm glad, well done to all, but it's still what it is.
Not sure how anyone can seriously argue against this.
In the same way West Ham recently won the 3rd rate European competition and Newcastle won the 3rd rate domestic competition and their fans celebrated wildy and rightly so.

You forgot millions celebrating at wee hours across half of the globe and another millions at the other side dancing into the evening. Stupid us in doing that, wasting our time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Holy fuck you guys are so sensitive. People celebrate league cups and they’re a second tier domestic competition FFS! The conference league is third tier and 1.5 billion big spenders Chelsea celebrated it after beating half of Eastern Europe.

It is by definition second tier. Not sure why this reality should take away from the enjoyment at the time but also not sure why in a discussion thread this can’t be mentioned without shrieking banshees telling us we’re trying to play it down.

The whole point of this thread is pointlessly weighing up the pro’s and con’s of Ange’s time in charge. To do that honestly you have to actually put the Europa league in proper context. Sorry if this upsets or offends.

I think he lost a lot of it in the 19/20 season tbh. He looked spent to me.
I liked Poch. Was sad to see it end the way it did but it was the right decision at the time.

I actually like Jose and think he's the hardest done by of our recent managers.

Did not like Conte but the bloke had proper issues personally so won't say too much against him.

I like Ange. Has brought us an amazing trophy and defends the club exactly how a fan would want our manager too.

All this is to say I'd keep Ange and give Jose another try before I even thought bout Poch of our recent managers.

Absolutely. Look who the club bought for him and understand what he had to work with. Jedson, Vinicius and Rodon.

Be nice if we could roll them all into one.
Poch's work ethics.
Mourinho's cup nous.
Conte's league nous.
Ange's phone blagging for signings.

If he'd called it 2nd Tier no one would have batted an eyelid.

He called it 2nd rate.

He's minimising the achievement and we all know why.
