My counter point to that would be, how many players were already superstars when Klopp bought them at Liverpool? They were pretty far removed from any meaningful success themselves at that point, well over a decade since the CL win, consistently finishing below us apart from the one Brenda year they nearly won the league. Guys like Salah, Firminho, Mané were not high fees even in the time period and none of them were sure fire successes when they came in. VVD in my opinion really only fits into the Richy/Solanke mold of transfer, I would be willing to bet he didn't sign for 200k/week initially. Liverpool themselves have a significantly lower wage bill even now than the likes of Woolwich, City, United and Chavs, sitting somewhere roughly in the middle of us and those clubs, yet won the league this season. Of course they can now afford to reap the benefits of their recent success and level up to signing the likes of Wirtz. We built the Poch team on a lower budget with a bigger disparity to the clubs we were challenging at the time until the core of the team had signed bumper contracts.

You are right, we will need to be operated in an incredibly astute manner with these owners to achieve consistent success, which begins with finding the right man to really align the actions of the scouting department and the board with the aims of the manager, make best use of the resources at their disposal, and find a way to utilise every drop of potential in all the squad players. Ange is clearly not that man if he is using his heart rather than his head in signing 18 year olds at the expense of an established senior pro.
I agree with you on the likes of Klopp and Poch. They've done extremely good jobs on tight budgets and getting the most out of their squads. I just didn't like the Maresca shout at Chelsea because he's managing a billion pound squad and trying to create this nonsense rebuild story.

Ange doesn't look like the man. I don't agree that his effort at Spurs has been as bad as people on here claim but I'm not convinced he is taking us forward. I'm underwhelmed by Frank but maybe he can level up with better players. Its a big gamble going Frank. No CL experience and it'll cost us 15m between sacking Ange and paying Brentford. Its a massive gamble for someone as tight as levy.

You're one of those people who still believe that Santa Claus is real aren't you
Of Course. Where else do My cookies go? I guess to the same place your ticket money goes.

I believe in a man who brings presents once a year. You believe in a man that supposedly brought football, once, sometimes twice a week for more than half a year. Who's the bigger fool?:ange-arms2:

If they do sack him. I think it would be a complete piss take to say Thomas frank is the one to take over.

Yeah good point.

Let's see if we can coax Klopp out of retirement,or maybe we should go for Slot, or Howe or Glasner.

And if not then, maybe Luis Enrique just to show we mean business.

I mean when we took the winner Pochettino from Southampton, what the hell were the club thinking.

Oh sorry, I get it. We can't replace a 22 league game losing manager, overseeing 17th place with a manager who is less than outstanding.

I understand you might not be a Frank fan.

This is wholly and completely about Postecoglou. Frank is a convenient no for those who seem to want to say let's stick with incompetence.

again, you're willfully obtuse and twisting the truth. why can't you guys make a case in good faith? there are obvious reasons said over and over why people like me don't like him personally. there's nothing 'strange' about it. and no one is saying he's a 'total fraud' and will 'never get a managerial job again'. we're saying he's a fraud at this level and won't work in a big league again.

the fact that you have to exaggerate and shade the truth makes you look weak but, your arguments are weak so no surprise there. what even is your argument? are you just having a go at fellow spurs so you can feel righteous? get over yourself don
I don't know where I stand. I try not to take sides but that seems to just offend people even more. This would be my summary of where my head is at with Ange and why I don't understand either extreme views. The "Ange In we can't sack him, he just won us a cup" or the "I hate Ange. Get him out. He is so out of his depth". I think the truth lies in between.

1) Ange's first season was acceptable. Great start and poor finish but 5th after losing Kane was fine.
2) Ange's second season was volatile. League campaign was a disgrace but we did target the cups all year and go strong in them and that gamble ultimately paid off when we finally won a trophy. Ironically that same trophy also guaranteed us CL football next season so made our league season almost invalid.
3) I think fans should be grateful to Ange for targeting the cups (probably against club advice) and ending our trophy drought.
4) I completely understand why fans think Ange needs to go as overall our season showed no consistency and we lost far too many games to believe he can turn it around.
5) I don't understand why people hate Ange.

I think most posters on here don't fall into either extreme category before I offend more people! But I think this place does tend to kick people into one direction or the other! If you find yourself on here arguing every day for the club to sack Ange (very fair opinion) then you are more likely to get annoyed and become more extreme. People calling him a fraud after he broke our 17 year drought would fall on the extreme end.

I’ll admit I have a strong dislike of Ange and want him gone but I can still be grateful for him leading us to Europa League glory, the 2 things aren’t mutually exclusive - a bit like in pre ww2 Italy I’m sure there were plenty of people who hated Mussolini but were grateful he got the trains running on time…
So what I'm getting from this is that you're grateful to Ange for winning you a trophy but you'd still like to lynch him and his wife and leave their bullet riddled bodies strung up for all North London to see? That about right? :ange-blow:

I don't think Frank is the guy I would immediately think of when it comes to being Spurs manager, but he is no more a punt than anyone else in my opinion, I think there should be some understanding that whilst we have just won the Europa League we also finished 17th, and we have drastically pinned our future hopes on seemingly keeping this promising generation of youngsters together that we are buying and hoping they largely flourish at the same time, which could work out very well if payers like Moore, Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic, Dorrington, Odobert, Sarr, Udogie etc can all be kept together, keep improving them and add senior players to fix immediate deficiencies with the team, but we really don't have a very good first XI at the moment. Really need to see some players seriously step up next season.

Lol, what a sharp distinction
You just don't get subtle nuances of it maannn

What about 19 league defeats... would you hire a manager who didn't win a cup and had 19 league defeats in a season?
Totally depends with who.

If it was 19 defeats with a Man City or any of the top 7 or 8 revenue clubs, then no.
If is was 19 defeats with a team with a fraction of their budget and team looked coherent, then quite possible.

Bayern took Kompany after I believe they had 24 defeats that season for example, and that looks like decent decision

do you really not understand? c'mon man. why not give another bold, fence sitting position along the lines of, "i can understand why people dislike him after he taunted and confronted fans and the way he acts in interviews." why do you feel the need to demonize the people who he badly rubs the wrong way? his saltiness is part of who he is ffs
He got pretty out of pocket during the last few months in a way those of us interested in keeping him are kind of conveniently forgetting, I will admit.

The stuff about how there was a mole in the club feeding injury information to the media? The fuck was all that?

On balance though I think Ange is great at dealing with the media.
