Did you celebrate the win? Did you feel any joy at watching the parade?

What do you think?

Spurs didn't pay the wages that the other top clubs were paying. I've heard Steve Perryman talking about this period regarding 'off the radar' payments being the norm at other clubs; but not at Spurs.
Bill Nick refused to make those payments on principle. We stopped being a top tier club when the maximum wage was abolished because the top players went to other clubs who would pay the higher wages and the under the table fees (effectively what we would call Signing On Fees in the modern game). This is covered in a lot more depth in the book Glory, Glory, Gone which covers the decline of the Bill Nicholson era, Terry Neill and the relegation and renewal under Keith Burkinshaw.

Bill Nicholson believed that the honour of playing for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club should have been enough for any player and the idea of players demanding higher wages and under the table fees was complete anathema to him. This is why we went from a team that challenged for the league to a team that finished in the top 6 and/or occasionally won a cup to being completely unable to attract players and compete in the top flight.

I agree to a point but Bill Nic had begun to make mistakes too. Selling Dave McKay too soon and letting Souness go being the obvious errors.

Spurs pursued cup glory in the second half of Bill Nic's tenure because it was more lucrative than attempting to win the league. It was the same as Levy chasing the top 4 if the truth were to be told. It was a way of achieving European football, bigger gates, tv money, advertising and other revenue.

What annoys me most is that the consensus in the 80's was that Spurs had gone too long without winning the league; a bit like United before Fergie won it for the first time in 26 years at the climax of the 92 / 93 season.

Now Spurs are just regarded as a joke in terms of winning the league and that narrative has been created on the watch of ENIC, Levy and Sugar.

Spursy is the period from 1991 until 2025.

But it’s bullshit lol. Ange has never united the fanbase. While we were having that parade the polls on sacking him or not were probably an even split.

‘Ange brought us a glorious moment’ would be true. Ange united the fanbase was most definitely not true.

I didn't say Ange united the fanbase.

I said that bloke felt that Ange united the fanbase in his view. Almost certainly based on his personal experience. And almost certainly because he's never once in his life visited TFC

Lucky fucker...:D

The thing this guy understands that the experts don’t, is that emotions win the biggest games, not tactics.

Klopp understood this, countless other great coaches as well.

You can hear and see why those players played like they knew they had to win.

Makes a complete mockery of those who insist that the players won in spite of Ange, not that this validation was needed anyway

For all the talk about his lack of tactics and his stubbornness and so on, there can be no doubt that Ange played a significant and crucial part in bringing us a trophy.

This documentary proved that.

Those who denigrate him give away more about themselves than diminish his achievement.

We move on but the guy should forever be respected by all Spurs fans.
