That's got to be the best looking trophy you can win in English football

Guy is a tedious prickly ego

Lol at comments on the Trees’ forums. Eg

“Interestingly I saw a stat on Sky earlier that said Ange's win percentage at Spurs is 46% which was a little surprising, mainly because I think a lot of people, myself included, forget he finished 5th with Spurs too.

So his win percentage is better than Nuno's, was his Spurs team better than Forest? First season yes, second season, probably not.

I don't really know what my point is here tbh, I think I'm probably just searching for the positives to say let's see what happens and it might work out.“

His league win % is actually 40.8% (31 wins in 76 games). Nuno's was 50% (5 wins in 10 games).

(Statistically, he has the lowest PL win % of any ENIC era manager, except Hoddle, 36%, and Ramos at 27%)

No point except proving that stat.

Forest scored 58 goals last season, tied with Villa and Bournemouth for the lowest among top 10, 20 of which came from a 33 yr old Chris Wood in what was clearly an outlier of a season for him. Elanga, their third (?) highest scorer with 6, is also gone.

Even here, despite eye catching numbers in both seasons, due to very uneven distribution of these goals there were dry spells where we actually looked very toothless up front. We would score 4 at Etihad, put 5 past Southampton and then average one a game for the next few.

I don't know where the goals will come from for them honestly. Even if newly added strikers ensure that strikers will have Wood's most recent output between them (20) at the very least, none of Hudson-Odoi, McAtee, Bakwa are likely to hit the double digits. And MGW already scored 7 last season in a Nuno team, so I'm not sure how much more Ange or any manager can get out of him.

He can't afford another season where his team ships 60+. Numbers just don't add up.
They are going to get shredded the exact way we did- except their CBs are slower than VdV and will be punished worse for it in key games.

They built that squad for Nuno’s system- not Ange ball. We’ll see what happens of course but I can’t see it working out any better for them than it did us.

The reason I was focusing on goals scored is that that's where he can realistically oversee an improvement compared to Nuno, albeit a relatively small one for the reasons I outlined above.

He's certainly not improving that defense, no way. He wouldn't be able to concede less than 46 with a handpicked back 4+ keeper of his choice, let alone an average Forest backline.

He's a little bit unfortunate to take over a team fresh off of a season where they overachieved tremendously. A sharp contrast to the situation he inherited here that caused a lot of people to continue cutting him slack for a -very- long time despite his obvious shortcomings as a manager.

Ange still living rent free! Is this thread going to be active every time he does a press conference for Forest? :ange-arms:

I couldn't care how he gets on at Forest. He won us a trophy so there won't be any hate on my side but I don't want him to succeed there either. However, I would love if they got a result on Saturday against Woolwich!
Hate would have to be the most hurtful word to use!
Why do people hate people, even when they have not met them, I cannot understand!

There are certainly components of Forests squad that are more suited to his style than ours though.

He’s got better direct wingers than he had at Spurs, a better 6/DM in Anderson and arguably a better 10 in MGW.

Defensively could be an issue but Murillo is a quicker CB than most in the league.

Another massive element is that the expectation and scrutiny at Forest will be far lower than it was at Spurs.

I could see it going pear shaped for sure, but it genuinely wouldn’t surprise me if he did very well there either.

Apologies to all the Ange admirers, but why are we still talking about this very poor premier league manager who got lucky in The EL?
Mickey Vander Van, doesn't make that acrobatic clearance and Utd go on to win The EL. Are we still remembering narcissistic Ange?

Yes well in past times I would say "If your aunty had balls, she'd be your uncle" but these days even if she had balls she could still be your aunty, so that's out.

The reality is and should be that the Ange and Spurs story is over and no more needs to be said.. He's a part of our history and always will be, but we moved on. He's been able to get another job in the best league in the world. To my knowledge, he didn't throw too many barbs our way today, and even mentioned how the Spurs fans he meets are very warm to him. It should be nicely wrapped into a little bow.

It's the press that are going to make this whole thing exhausting.. Us and Postecoglou are constantly going to be brought up in reference to each other, Say Forest win on Saturday and we drop points, there is going to be a bombardment of "haha Tottenham, what have you done?" And not just Saturday.. If there's any weekend, where Forest win playing nice football and we drop points, the same will happen.... It'll be interminable.
