There were a few. I was very, very tentatively one of them. And it was louder elsewhere, especially Spurs Reddit.
It had a weird parasocial element to it, I don't blame people for being weirded out.
But what I do insist upon is that the campaign against Ange is WAY more irrational, WAY more personal and non-football based, and relied WAY more on obviously incorrect arguments than any of the Daddy Ange shit ever did, and the way it is still carrying on even with him gone only proves that further.
Ange , José even Malcolm Allison ( for those born early enough to remember ) are / were box office.
Media see coverage of football as an entertainment ; what they ( the media ) want is a circus that they can portray and project . Ange fits the bill ( ¨ straight out of central casting ¨ etc ) .
Sam Goldwyn knew a thing or two about entertainment ;he’d have loved Ange IMHO .
Ange’s implausibility at actually managing at a Premier League level only adds to the drama
( Greek or otherwise) .
Whatever we may all think of Ange; his tenure at the City Ground will be “ interesting “ if nothing else .

It just makes me wonder what the spurs gods have in line for us next. So far this year it’s been pretty bonkers even for us. I can’t help but think there’s some more drama to come this season.

I just think that he should be evenly regarded as he helped (in some way) win us a trophy and didn’t do us dirty (ear cupping aside, but the guy is only human - if I were manager, my programme notes would be titled “You’re all cunts”). As soon as he was hired I took Sels out of my fantasy team. Literally within seconds of news breaking that they hired him.
That being said he won us the Europa League and for that I will be forever grateful.

The Nightmare Before Christmas ...and After Christmas
I remember Ajax with more fondness than that final honestly. Yes a trophy is a trophy but we looked mostly poor throughout the europa final and in the end we lost the battle of who was worse. Ajax (and City and that whole run) were glittering moments where we seized something in the most improbable and courageous way. We were on the doorstep of heaven, as a fan. That was certainly a more enjoyable time than sleepwalking through Europa and winning the final almost by default.
I realize few will regard it that way but the peak of the Poch era was so much more enjoyable than moving through last year's Europa against a weak field, in the midst of the worst season in living memory. Finishing second and then being runners-up in CL were times of good play and joy and hope even if we fell a bit short. Stark contrast to the ending of last season. I will never change my opinion on that

Yeah, we were a club getting respect. Last season everyone laughed at us, just like we're laughing at Ange now.
We did deserve a trophy for what we suffered through Ange's spell, but to remember that season fondly is not easy.

And which club is better? The one that was runner up in the CL? The one that finished 2nd in the best league in the world? Or the one that finished 17th and won an honor in a second tier competition that's expressly for those who aren't good enough to be invited to the first?
I don't know which of the three clubs was best and was closest to reaching the summit, but I know the third is miles behind the first two. Getting very near to the summit of Everest is more prestigious than getting there on Kilimanjaro.
I know many won't agree but if the goal is to be the best, there are no questions on this.
