Yeah this thread is a laugh tbh, amazed that people genuinely still get angry and still have the energy to twist comments and do everything to put him down when it should make 0 difference to their lives lol

This is about where 85% of "normal" Spurs fans land, I reckon.

Nobody is abormal for thinking Ange is a bullshit artist. And nobody is really angry. The laughable thing is you've spent all evening on here trying to talk down to fellow Spurs fans because they don't like Ange, yet in the same posts criticised those fans for having sad lives. LOL.

Ange is a chancer, always has been always will be. His cultists wherever they are in the world are embarassing. They were embarassing when they defended Ange to the hilt even when he was failing like fuck at this club, and they still are now.

But it's fine, we all have a difference of opinion.

Obviously Ange is responsible for the mess we got into in the league last season, and it's very fair to say he is a big part of the reason why we have continued to struggle this season.

The fact is, our terrible relegation style league form started under Ange. And whatever bad habits and losing habits we picked up in the league last season continued under Frank.

Under Jose, Conte, it was never ever this bad. It all started under Ange, he initiated the worst PL form we have seen in decades. He started the rot, and the squad hasn't recovered.

Frank was totally the wrong man to stop the rot, in fact he made it worse in some aspects, but the rot started under Ange. He made losing every week acceptable in the PL. We completely gave up our standards in the league.

And winning a few games and a trophy in Europe against mediocre opposition does not make any of that acceptable.

Frank wasn't wrong when he said we finished 17th the previous season. He was obviously being self serving to lower expectations, but the reality is the rot had started before he arrived. He couldn't stop the rot so he was rightly sacked, but the rot = Ange.

Football is all about momentum and trends, and the reality is the form we see now is just a continuation of Ange's tenure. Frank couldn't change it, let's hope Tudor and the next man can.

If you don't like my opinion on Ange, ignore it, but you don't get to police what we say about him.

Nice essay but you didn't answer my question

Let me ask you a question.

Do you think if hypothetically Ange got sacked say in April before we played Frankfurt and we had no manager going into the final matches, do you still think we'd get over the line?

It's a stupid question because it's impossible to know. I am happy to give Ange some credit, because he was the manager that we won a trophy, it would be silly not to. Where we differ is how much influence he had, and based on the overall analysis of his tenure, I think he was a fraud that got lucky. Remember Ramos won us a trophy, and look how history looks on him. Sometimes these things just happen under objectively terrible managers.

I am happy to discuss what has happened, in both ways. We did win a trophy last season. He also took us so far down in the league, he instigated the worst PL results we've had in 40 years which we haven't recovered from and might still end up in the Championship.

We were never this bad before Ange, that is a fact. Whatever the hell happened last season under him has completely screwed the club in a huge way.

Ok.

I watched that whole thing. There was next to no probing at all. It was more passing comments than actual querying

He was asked in the first episode about Levy. He said he didn't have a lot to do with Levy, that Poch was the only one Levy was close with, that before the Europa Levy said we've last all finals we'd played under his watch.

Re: transfers. In the previous episode he said Champion League money was THE key to transfers and the club did not want to spend the money required to compete at the top 4 and above level.

He talked at length about Van den Ven and his comments. He said he looked at how the Europa winners played and found all played defensively to win and felt that was the way to do and that he could replicate it, No indication of a player revolt.

To be specific he talked about them not paying the wages required to land the quality of players required to fulfil the stated aims of the ownership.

Which is nothing we didn't already know but somehow made the derangers clutch their pearls as if he was attacking "Spurs".

Equally you could say, the club was given a platform of winning something that it hasn't in decades, champions League money, and that should have been a platform to build on.

The notion that this season is Postecoglou's fault is ridiculous. He was rightly sacked for last season's performance in the league, and is the reason why another manager was given the job. Its all on that replacement manager and group of players for the mess we're in now.

Yes, exactly.

Also, when he does answer the questions re: Levy, transfers, binning the league, the Europa final and Van den Vens comments, if the answers aren't what they want them to be, then he didn't answer them or he wasn't "probed".

Its ridiculous.

I'd rather be lucky than good.

And were worse before Ange. We were 8th before. He got us the fifth, 2 points from 4th, and had we won that game against the scum that we wanted to lose we would have got fourth, and Champions League money to bring in better players and maybe not finished 17 the following year.

If's and maybe's.

Some of the worst derangers are claiming he had a go at Van De Ven.

I mean... if nothing else we know for CERTAIN that Ange loved Romero and VDV - and that they fucking worshipped him.

Now this may or may not be a "good" thing - but to try and claim Ange was throwing VDV under a bus in his interview is just more lies and distortions which is all they have.

It's morbidly fascinating to watch.

If it was so easy to win trophies how comes we never managed to win one for 17 years?

Gonna hide this thread after this post it's clearly the most toxic on the forum. Feel like everyone's dug in and it's just getting abusive.

The hardline Ange-defenders act like he did nothing wrong and all his faults were down to external factors, while also acting sanctimonious about the cup win claiming Ange-doubters can't/didn't enjoy it (which is patently bollocks).

The hardline Ange-haters can't see anything good about the guy at all and think the cup win was a fluke and nothing to do with him at all. He's just a lucky, self-serving, snake-oil salesman who had no redeeming qualities and is solely to blame for our current problems.

Think, as always, the truth lies somewhere in between. I think Ange is a very gifted manager with a lot of great qualities, but some colossal flaws too. I've got a massive soft spot for him as a bloke and I think it's clear the players loved him and would've run through brick walls for him, but I also think he's a bit of a bullshit artist and the way he self-mythologises is extremely calculated and often disingenuous.

Overall, I'll always love what he did for us as the cup-win was one of the highlights of my Spurs supporting life and in many ways he embodies exactly what I want from a Spurs manager: brave, proud, inspiring. But fuck me, his tactics weren't half naive and his pig-headedness around how we set up, rushing players back from injury, not adapting to game-state caused us lots of problems. I think had he stayed the 3rd season would've been bad and he would've been sacked before Christmas - everyone and their dog had our number and we were such an easy mark.

Frank was fucking shit, but I have zero faith that Ange would've had a glorious resurgence. Think sacking him was, ultimately, correct. We just picked the worst possible replacement.

Anyway, enjoy ripping the shit out each other :)

Am I alone in this? I’ll be reading a perfectly well argued, well structured post, then get to the word “cult” or “cultist”, then just fucking give up?

Got to be in the same ballpark as grown men actually typing “lol” and cunts that use wRiTinG LiKe tHiS.

We need a war. Or a proper plague. There’s a thinning out required.
