I've noticed you like bullying and throwing personal abuse at people ,for someone that spends a lot of time complaining about people bullying and throwing personal abuse at people.

Also a lot of time trying to police any opinions that differ to your own, for someone that also accuses people of trying to police opinions that are different to your own

We were just trying to sell the club to him and it's not unusual for that to happen, lots of players visit lots of clubs when thinking of a move.
I can't remember for sure but I thought that we just didn't want to pay what Rennes were asking for what was just potential at that time?

He's not the first player we've missed out on and he won't be the last but I don't think anyone is really to blame for it.

Ha I know you're trolling here, you can talk about his managerial abilities but one thing anyone cannot deny is that he has pull as a manager.

I reckon if he was left to continue his project for another year I reckon we'd have a player like Rafael Leao by now and perhaps Nico Williams or a player of his ilk.
 
This thread is fascinating , it reads mostly as emotion v reality.

I’m not sure as to which is the primary factor behind judging Ange, but having looked at the facts.

First ten Games - 2.6 points per game.

Last 66 - 1.18 points per game.

2024 - finished outside of the Top 4, despite the highest points tally after ten games, that is (harshly) failure.

The booby prize of Europa League was something that most of us would have been angry about in previous eras, as it is falling short. THFC lost out to Villa. Should they have done…many reasons why, as opposed to it being Ange alone, but recall we lost to wolves, West Ham and Villa all in a row after the Chelsea game. And the end of season was a complete catastrophe, that he should not have been forgiven so easily for.

2025/26 is abysmal. Picking the bones out of that is pointless. finishing 17 honestly didn't feel like an "echo of glory it just felt like failure and an embarrassment.

Ange went all in on Europa League after Christmas and it was a happy ending of sorts, but then they could be seen as over celebrating when you consider the league position. Which ( non emotionally ) is the higher marker of quality.

For the little it’s worth, my view is that the club should never have hired Ange, they should never have backed him ( actually in hindsight they didn’t really ) and his sacking is justifiable without emotion involved.

There is a reasonable question as to if we could / should have given him the start of this season. Maybe In hindsight yes, but I doubt the outcome would be any different as his system was worked out 16 months before the start of this season.

Yeah I know - it's just embarrassing and very similar to Frank's quote on Semenyo for anyone to be celebrating the fact that a young player at a mid-table Ligue 1 team came to "have a look" - especially when he turned out to not be interested

I disagree with this because it's great to be involved in any European competition, let alone win it.
European nights and glory are what this club is all about, so to say that we'd have been angry about it in previous eras is just not true.

I'm 51 years old and I've never been disappointed with my club playing in Europe, never.

Isn't it incredible our own fans putting down a trophy as if we haven't been trophy starved!

Mind you same fans will tell you how they were desperate to win something and how disgraceful it is that we have gone so long without a trophy and yer when we do win one it's seen as a booby prize, this fanbase is amazing :D

Who do they think we are, that they consider Europe's second competition to be beneath us?
It's mental, especially considering our European history.

It's no wonder we get called "entitled".
