I disagree with this because it's great to be involved in any European competition, let alone win it.
European nights and glory are what this club is all about, so to say that we'd have been angry about it in previous eras is just not true.

I'm 51 years old and I've never been disappointed with my club playing in Europe, never.
You are slightly older than me, so we are from the same era. And I am also never disappointed to be in Europe, but I do recognise I am disappointed when we are not in the Champions League. The objective is Champions League, so when you come up short it is disappointing.

Slightly moot point now, will be a while till we see Europe again now.

Yes I was, and have been at every cup final since 87 - bar the 2021 League cup - why that specific question ?

Just intrigued by the "booby prize" reference, I guess. It certainly didn't feel that way amongst the fans during that weekend. At least not in my experience. I'm probably just over-reacting. I know that you mean "of secondary importance" which it is indeed.

Nope, we're going to be in Europe again after the next season.
One season out to clear the squad and learn the De Zerbi way with one game a week while climbing into the European spots.
COYS!

Difficult to believe there are STILL Ange fanbois...

The first generation thereof ; dynasties are taking shape …

As I’ve said before I can actually see both sides to the Ange “ discussion “ ; and in a way that’s what makes it as irresolvable and endlessly fascinating as one of those centuries-old mathematical hypotheses that you get a million dollar prize for successfully proving or refuting.

Nah mate the Ange pull, a guy utterly irrelevant to European football who Doue had probably never heard of, who is considered a caricature on the continent..

Probably couldn’t wait to get out of that training ground and sign for anyone else.
So you don’t really know them. It’s just what you think. All of this is conjecture. “Irrelevant” to the point where he won a cup in European football?

So what? So did Kane. We still appreciate him and he never won a European trophy with us 🤷‍♂️

😂Ffs if whataboutry is the best you can come up with for keeping a dead thread going then fill your boots...my remarks had nothing to do with lack of appreciation but more to do with curiosity as to the recent developments/events that may have caused the thread to be bumped again.

Alas there is nothing new to offer opinion on other than the refusal of some to accept the fact a former (like so many others) manager is gone and never coming back, so the sooner those who can't let it go accept it the quicker the therapy can begin.

Ok.

All evidence points to the thread being anything but dead. Certainly it has morphed into something quite extraordinary. Whether that is good or bad is a matter of opinion. The one thing thing that is, without doubt, not true is that the thread is dead.

Nope. We did play very good football first season for a good part of it, we just never developed that or improved on that or dealt with other teams exploiting us. I have zero issue with De Zerbi wanting to emulate what we did early under Ange, but I’m sure he’d also then want to actually kick on and have a bit more nous about us tactically.

Well hopefully he has alot more luck with injuries than ange did and gets the players he wants in

Lol, Ange first season had one game a week and a perfectly normal amount of injuries. It still fell apart after an excellent start because the momentum went and we didn’t develop or adapt. We never again played consistent good footy under him after the honeymoon.

Guy ended the season with a near fully fit team clinging on to fifth desperately. We could only beat Sheffield and Burnley.

Net, only Conte had more invested in to the squad than Ange did. Let’s hope RDZ can make more of the players he has, doesn’t run the team in to the ground, and can adapt tactics a bit and not rely entirely on momentum and can prepare for more than one match a week.

You gonna walk back your comments about De Zerbi "just being polite" about his admiration for Postecoglou the other day? :D
