That's the point of it all, you're only better off sacking a poor manager if you hire one that isn't poor.

Since we cocked that up it leaves dimwits claiming "We are no better off, we should have kept him". No you swellhead, then we're just as shit as we are now. We should have hired someone who wasn't useless. That was the error.
Exactly... It's such a simple concept, it's astonishing that people can't see this.

It's server tunnel vision and an inability to take a step back, breathe, and look an a holistic view of it all.

As you say, sacking Ange wasn't the issue, it was the complete and utter incompetence at picking a new one.

Yeah but it's not the be all and end all like you said before.

We actually had one of our best windows in recent times without CL football, not that it's saying much because most of our windows have been poor.

CL isn't swinging it alone if you want to attract top players to our club, that's always been the case at Spurs.
I can't even remember what I said before, I've had a hectic day.

This is a quote from an actual footballer.

“Every ambitious player wants that step,” he told RMC Sport. “When you join the national team and look around, you only see players who play in the Champions League and win major trophies. When you’re among the best, you naturally want to reach that level too.”

Mateta’s words come after a historic season for Crystal Palace, who lifted both the FA Cup and the Community Shield. The Eagles have carried that momentum into the new campaign, sitting sixth in the Premier League under a coach the striker described as “fantastic”.

The problem our club has is there's no reason for a top player to sign, the ones that Mateta is referring to in the first paragraph, all we can do is either try and outbid the other teams as you say, it's about the money, or be in the Champions League and try and use that as a point of attraction for ambitious players.

Now, Postecoglou got the club into European football for two consecutive seasons, and won one of the competitions, unfortunately players aren't so much attracted to Europa League, when he got the team into the Champions League he was sacked so didn't have a chance to see what's what with that, but the conversation is pointless because he didn't want being in the Champions League as a lure to attract players.

Struggling to understand the correlation between Mateta and Tottenham?

Perhaps we should have picked one of the most decorated managers of all time or somebody widely regarded as one of the best football managers in the world?

Then we'd be guaranteed success, right?

When will people realise it's not the manager that's the problem or Levy, or the players. It's the club itself.

The whole culture needs changing, and it can't happen overnight. The only way to do it is to give a manager time, and not bin them off as soon as there's a dip in results.

Virtually every successful club in history has only achieved greatness in one of two ways. By either throwing obscene amounts of money around, or by being patient and giving a manager enough time to build up a winning mentality.

We refuse to do neither. Which is why season after season, all we get is mediocrity,

Mateta tells us that players are attracted by Champions League football, Our club got into the Champions League with Postecoglou, so if he had of lasted longer as manager, he may have got a couple of players that were upgrades and more suitable for his system, even if they ain't the absolute elite of world football.

I hope that explanation has helped you with your struggle.

This is great but he is speaking from his perspective, he doesn't speak for everyone and also your example is stupid because as well as Milan he was negotiating with Notting Forest when he said that who last time I checked...weren't a Champions League club, You don't need to seek comments from other players for confirmation bias, it's pretty desperate but it doesn't prove a thing and you're just wasting your own time, and mine.

Now let's bring it back to Spurs, when we've had CL football we haven't attracted 'top' players to this club, as stated we, in fact, had our best window recently, you tell me when we've been able to get 'top' players due to CL pull at this club?

🤣

How completely oblivious can you be.

Who has set the culture at the club for over 20 years until recently? Levy

Who has flip flopped between defensive and attacking managers, and never really backing any? Levy

Thus destroying any identity at the club.

And of course, the managers share part of the blame... Playing players out of position, refusing to adapt, sticking to the same players that consistently let us down, in Ange's case, regressing our ability to play football, that we couldn't string more than two passes together... The list goes on.

And the players, they share some of the blame to... Butt hurt petulant snowflakes, to weak and pathetic, cowardly wankers.

The club is in this mess, directly because of the people you claim are not at fault.

Completely fecking clueless.

Absolutely. Despite reaching the Champions League final, and qualifying for the competition again the next season, we proceeded to have one of our worst transfer windows ever, which given the stiff competition is really saying something.

It's wages that attract the top players, and we won't pay them.

We didn't attract the best players, because cunt Levy offered 50p and packet of crisps in wages.

And rather than having one quality player on £200,000 a week, he would get 3 shit and pointless players on £80,000 a week or more, that the managers never wanted.

Ultimately paying more in wages for quantity over quality, and bloating squad the full of shit.

We sacked Postecoglou at the end of last season, and Levy at the start of this one.

So we must be flying up the table this year right? Oh wait, no, we're about to be relegated.

Still, we've got De Zerbi now. The new messiah. He'll surely lead us out of the wilderness to the promised land of milk and honey.

TBH, I think the point is mute regardless of whether he prioritised or not is irrelevant.

The team regressed to a point, that we literally couldn't play football.

In the final, we relied more on ManU not being able to score, than anything we did, we was completely ineffective against ManU.

Not because we prioritised anything...

If anything, we got to a point that we was so shit in the league, the priority change might have been forced, rather than conscious stroke of genius.
How do you describe Frank's tenure?

This is great n all but highly irrelevant to pretty much anything really...

Only an idiot would think, that getting rid of problem, automatically means the mess clears up...

People with a functioning brain understand that the mess left behind takes time to clear.

And in some cases, the problems can be so severe that things can continue to get worse... Just like poorly run companies, were the CEO was so poor, that despite a new person coming in, the company can't be saved because the damage has already been done.

You are one properly stupid twat.

Why do you always have to resort to personals in a footy debate man, it's not that deep man, I genuinely think you have problems.

But like that racists shit you came out with the other day, weird.

And they called me fruit loop... I.e. a nut case...

Don't see you calling them up.

This is why I have you ignore. You're just horrible nasty shit stirring cunt.

Got to admit though, you did well for few posts and actually debated points.

Before reverting to type.

You're not paying attention are you, I said you always revert to personals, he doesn't do that, you do and there you go again calling me a cunt lol

If you have me on ignore why are you even replying to me?, you're your own worst enemy

We know your type here, we all saw those racist comments, you don't have to protest otherwise.

Admin Admin why is this bellend constantly allowed to abuse people on this forum for expressing perfectly reasonable opinions.

Yet, whenever somebody gives it back, they get banned?
