Well, that makes him English as much as it makes him Serbian.
After 15 years I can tell you that in my experience most second generation children consider themselves British primarily - although I've noticed a tendency to swap between identities depending on what suits at the time, and how much there are a part of the greater ethnic minority community pertaining to their roots. My ex had a habit of doing that.

Part of it crosses the "border", so to speak, into South Eastern Europe. So I guess it depends what part of Serbia his family claims to be from.
