Long term injuries i agree with, players missing 2 or 3 here and there happens to every club every season. Not having an option in Moura has hurt us. We've had to keep playing Son despite his drop in form. When Kulu has been out at the same time, and Richarlison as well, we've had to call upon Gil
It's an accumulative effect.
Bentancur missed 2 in August/Sept and 4 since the return from the WC
Romero missed 3 between Aug and Sept and 5 between Oct and Nov so 8 from 18 missed.
PEH has been over played because we can't afford to rest him. Compounded by having to play with Skipp instead of either Bentancur or Bissouma. We saw how much PEH benefitted from having Bentancur to play with instead of Winks. They're a good combo.
With our fairly limited squad, these injuries are and have been a big factor.
The blame for Conte really is his utter refusal to see an unknown Djed Spence is a better bet than a tried, tested and failed Royal. He could have seen Diers head isn' straight but then his alternative is Sanchez or Tanganga.
Is it Conte's fault Son has fallen off a cliff? It's like someone has replaced last seasons prolific Son with a tired, confused clone. Pretty much half of our threat has hone with Son's form. Scary but how does Conte get blamed for this?
I agree on Spence. I think he's used him as a bit of a scapegoat for perceived transfer failings which is poor. Sarr and Gil have had minutes out of neccessity and are proving good value members of the squad.
No its not all Contes fault on Son but he himself wanted Kane playing higher up the pitch which has helped Kanes goalscoring but not our creativity and not Sons running in behind and feeding off of Kane which was arguably his greatest strength. He's always been a fairly limited winger which is the role he now seems to be playing. I do think there has been a big drop off on Sons part though.
